I believe the rumours that give us the best players for the least cost. The other ones are garbage.11 points

Don't bother buddy. Since day one that guy has strived to make this BenHurLand. I think if you take into consideration his profile pic and his standard condescending posts it's clear the type of person he is.10 points

Well. I come on to the trade/draft rumour thread and I wonder. Hmm, which players are rumoured to be on their way to the MFC? It doesn't matter if it doesn't happen. It's just a little bit of fun. Unfortunately, I then have to wade through copious posts of people whinging and in your case Ben, rather aggressively and needlessly. It's not the end of the world, but I'd prefer not to.10 points

Funnily enough the thread is called Trade/Draft rumours, CK has heard something and passed it on as rumour, for that I thank him as it gives us all something to debate. Don't care who his sources are and don't care if none are right. When he posts it in a thread called "This is what is 100% happening and this is my source's name to back it up" then I may question whether it's from an impeccable source. As it is a rumour thread I don't demand this and would really wonder why anyone would, treat it for what it is, a rumour. To all who have posted something they have heard no matter the source, thanks from someone with no contacts within the club. '9 points

I was told tonight that Viv wanted to play under roos so was keen to become a Dee.7 points

If we can't pick up the young, quality mid-fielder we want with pick 2 we should keep it. Instead we should trade our later picks for older midfielders like Myer and Vince. These guys will be around 2 - 5 years and worth later round picks. They will help develop our younger talent, but more importantly should be able to give us the instant competitive up-lift in the midfield which we require. I am against trading pick 2 at a significant loss, despite our desperate need for ready made high quality mids.7 points

This has got to be the most boring trade period in history. The AFL have buggered up by having the free agency last for 2 weeks. Pretty much everything is done within a day as the Free agents know when they want to leave or not and the clubs know they won't match it. They should have one week for free agency and then 3 weeks for trades. It's obvious all the trades are being held up because no one knows what compo they will get.7 points

I'd be thrilled if more people posted actual rumours instead of sniping at each other and debating irrelevant crap.6 points

Why are people getting so frustrated and aggressive, as a result of MC's posts? Grow up, it's just a bit of fun.6 points

To be frank, I couldn't care less about using players as marketing tools. We need to get our footy team winning and that'll be all the marketing that is needed.5 points

Mundy, Butler, Gilmore, Willits, Polo, T Murphy, Dempsey, Bower, Stanley, Grigg, Hislop, Urquahart, Ward, Notte, Maric A, Strauss, Swift, Ballantyne, Griffiths, Fyfe, Bastinac, Smith, Pitt, Lamb. They are the picks 19 - 21 from 2003 to 2010. Of the 24 picks I reckon there are 4 or 5 good players - Mundy, Ward, Fyfe, Bastinac. There are some ok players - Grigg, Ballantyne and Smith. If we trade pick 20 for Vince given our situation I'll be thinking we've done a sensible thing. If we get Lyon as well it will be robbery.5 points

"The Dockers also appear resigned to losing young midfielder Viv Michie, who is keen to join Melbourne after three years with Fremantle". From today's AFL website trade news.4 points

He gave us 10 or so years loyal service and left to play finals at a time when Melbourne was making all senior players feel very shaky - eg Jnr. I'd welcome him back in the future.4 points

Guys, instead of debating the validity of the "rumours" can we debate the worth of the players coming to melbourne? Its just a bit of fun guys. Loosen up FCS.4 points

Couldn't give a stuff about a senior assistant. Roos is the coach and by now his competitive juices will be flowing again. If Roos implements the right culture and structures other stuff will evolve over time. The media need stories, so the fact that Melbourne is progressing slower than first thought will occupy the airwaves and papers, but in reality it means sfa. It would be more important if Roos was entering his final year, but he's not. In the overall scheme of getting better as a footy club right now it ranks low in the level of importance. If the club can't find who they want they should shortly put an end to conjecture and say they'll assess this position in an on-going fashion during the course of the next 12 months.4 points

I must say hats off to stevethemanjordan for opening this thread - a well calculated thought/ trade. Things are looking and sounding positive, from what I've heard he's not over the line yet but sounding likely.3 points

We should not pay overs. If so, we walk away and draft a gun at #2! We pick up cross and one other with a later pick. We drive development out of the young guns we have and support them with a few older, able types. We swing a few interesting changes like Watts to the midfield. Why pay overs?? It is Adelaide and Essendon that have to 'buy' their way back to the table. If we pay overs we are way too stupid to deserve to be in this competition.3 points

Melbourne - in - add certification from WADA that any Essendon players involved in any deal have complete immunity from sanctions as a result of any investigation past or present into that club's supplements programme.3 points

It's kind of funny the way that so many people in this thread have talked about trading pick 20 for Vince or using it on Jones as if they're the only two possibilities for the pick. I don't remember reading anywhere that said we'd pick Jones with pick 20.3 points

I am over this pick 2 debate. I honestly think we get some afl experienced mids with our sylvia compo and later picks or psd and just use pick 2 on the best kid in the draft. That way we get some top up experience with later picks and psd but we also get a ready made midfielder who can play 8-10 years. So keep pick 2 and use later picks on afl players and after next season if we are more successful than previous ones suss out free agency. No use trading pick 2 this year as all the good players are staying put now.3 points

The critical point is that we cannot compromise our standards by rushing to make a decision now, from a list of candidates who don't quite measure up. If we can't nail the right Senior Assistant now, then we must wait until we can, because the long term interests of the Melbourne Footy Club depend on it. PJ and PR know this.3 points

We're like someone with a bad credit rating. Yes you can still buy or borrow but you will pay through your nose until you get some legitimacy back in your game. We need to do what ever we need to do RIGHT NOW in order to get back into the game. 2014 , 2015 etc will have their own opportunities, draft picks trades etc. We simply have to work with what we've got for now. Work within your means , then expand your means !!3 points

In terms of the player's salary that's true, but what business is it of the player manager's what happens in the trade? It's got nothing to do with him at all, that's a deal between the two clubs. At best, commenting on what pick his player is worth adds nothing at all, and at worst it could hinder the trade.3 points

"If Shaw doesn't go to Geelong, he'll be a Dee." Look up post #2933. Page 118. You're so thick Stu it really is shooting fish in a bucket. Second dumbest poster I've come across on any forum.2 points

I think it's been a while since you read a Nudge / chilliboy thread, because his posts are a class above the CK rubbish. Essendon are out of the 1st & 2nd round of the draft... so are stocking up on 5th round picks? If you're going to manufacture rumours, at least put some effort and intelligence into them.2 points
