Posted on another thread but suitable here... Eade's coaching stats: Took the Swans to 5 Finals series in 7 Years including 1 GF (54% winning record) Took the Dogs to 4 Finals series in 7 Years including 3 Prelims (55% winning record) His first year at the dogs they just missed the finals (9th) after less thsn 5 wins in the previous two years. I kind of like the fact he hasn't won a flag, he'll have the burning hunger we need!!11 points

We know absolutely nothing about the situation really, that's the whole point, might find out it's all sorted and we're waiting for more appropriate times to make announcements.6 points

What about blatant discrimination in the treatment of one club in respect to another. Where does that leave you? A former Carlton premiership player, interviews a former Carlton assistant Coach, hears the allegations and says no case. The Chairman of the AFL is a former Carlton Premiership captain. The assistant Coach repeats the allegations, on the same channel that Brock appeared on and to the same interviewer, is corroborated by the former club leading goal kicker, Fev, in his book and in the papers and nothing happens.5 points

Really good topic to take our minds off the unbelievable amount of dung hanging around AFL at the moment. 1. New President and Senior Coach 2. Get Clark and Dawes fit, for crying out loud!!!! 3. With everything we have got, get one of Sewell, Del Santo and/or Daisy Thomas. (1 experienced A grade midfielder) 4. With everything we have got, land one of Adams, Swallow, Sloane (1 young rising, potential A grade midfielder) 5. Only trade Watts/Syvlia if we get better than we are giving. 6. Big preseason for Hogan, Barry, Evans, Toumpas, Viney, Clisby, Terlich, D Kent - for the first time in a long time this list of young'ns looks capable. 7. Time to go Davey, Nicholson, Gillies, Sellar, Jetta, Bail. 8. A proud major sponsor, not some flaky nut bag like Energy Watch, or fly-by-night Opel. A company willing to promote themselves while helping to grow MFC. Note: I hearby solemnly promise not to type the following phrases into the Demonland forum for the 2014 preseason: elite kick they looked really sharp a big change from the training of Neeld player "x" should get a game based on the training I have seen Trengove has an injury and will not train until February4 points

Players have not been served with infraction notices even though ASADA believes they have enough evidence in the interim report. ASADA are understood to have withheld their decision pending further evidence that might be available due to additional powers of interrogation. The Essendon officials have been charged under AFL rules not ASADA rules for bringing the game into disrepute. David Evans and Paul Little have both admitted the supplements program's were wrong. Essendon's own commissioned Ziggy report paints a picture of a cowboy chemical operation without due oversight and governance. They entered this program despite being clearly an often warned by the AFL about not being involved in illegal substances. They have sacked a number of people involved with the highest executive scalp being the CEO because he did not know what was going on. Yet those that should have known remain intact in their jobs. Essendon's interactions with Dank and their program has been the subject of an ACC report into illegal supplements in sport and has lead to an extensive ASADA investigation because Essendon don't know what went on in their club. Essendon's folly has derailed media attention away from the football and sidetracked AFL focus on more important issues for the game like equalisation etc. And you think Essendon has enhanced the game this year? They may challenge the legality of the AFLs disrepute law in the courts but this won't take away the stain and smear of the most reckless and unprofessional conduct ever seen in a sporting club in Australia.4 points

Ok, I got a graph that show the correlation between winning and uncontested possessions: The margin correlates to the 'margin' of uncontested possessions quite clearly I think. This next graph shows the dramatic improvement in the first 8 games of Craig's tenure over the last 11 of Neeld's. This graph shows the average margin and the average UP margin of the two tenures. There is no comparison really, the lines don't even cross... The players simply did not want to run and be bold and take the game on during the first 11 games of the season. I don't put these up to illustrate a desire for Craig to stay on, although I can see the argument for that, I say it because I want people to know that there is hope and that improvement so marked like above can come in such a dark season then imagine what a good coach would be able to do with a summer to work with.3 points

One thing is for sure. Wherever Roos ends up the spotlight will be well and truly on him. He knows this. The question is, will he succeed or end up looking like a rabbit in the headlights? An aura has been created around him. I think he is good at coaching but is he really THAT good? Who knows but I have my doubts.3 points

Robinson just bombs it to no-one. There's also a difference between being driven by desire and achievement and being driven by brainlessness. Definite no from me.3 points

Just explaining this to a work colleague (non sports fan), and the discussion turned to an interesting point, which I would be happy to hear some views on. Essentially if Essendon did(does) not know who was being injected with what and/or when; then how could this be seen as providing as safe working environment. For what if a player: was on some other medication (perhaps prescription drugs), or perhaps suffering another condition outside of the football world (such as anxiety) or be susceptible to something not currently obvious (allergies for example) How could any diagnosis or follow up treatment then occur (in the advent of something going wrong) when records were not kept. At the very least, a program such as this should have detailed records so that the effects (both good and bad) could be monitored, and acted upon - particularly for adverse reactions. For it would not be unreasonable to expect the possibility of an unknown substance reacting adversely with the large variety of human conditions and/or substances that may be consumed by a person. This would at a minimum necessitate sound and detailed record keeping. From this point alone, Essendon as an employer must be in a very precarious position; when you give careful considerations to the real dangers (even potentially life threatening) the players were placed in, through this situation. Imagine if a doctor /specialist was trying to determine the cause of ####, only to be informed by a player that he was taking this drug, suffering these symptoms and being injected weekly with an UNKNOWN substance!3 points

The advice from the club to Clisby would have been that, whilst there was a chance he could get off, there was probably an equal chance he'd lose his appeal (given the tiny proportion of players who succeed at the Tribunal), and would therefore be risking missing Casey's entire finals campaign. Clisby would have decided that the safety of playing that one final meant that he'd rather accept the penalty and move on. This isn't a case of MFC weakness, as some are bleating. This is a pragmatic decision that Clisby himself will have taken.3 points

All very incestuous. Spoke to Rod Austin who gave the all clear - a bit like Mike Fitzpatrick now running the Commission at that great bastion of highly selective integrity, the AFL.3 points

Very true. But certain Demonland members will use any development whatsoever in our club or in any other club, to put the boot into our club. And when there aren't any new actual developments , they can use rumours and speculation, which are legion, to do the same. Just look at almost any thread.2 points

Roos was signed and sealed by the bombers 3 days ago......apparently2 points

Age says Lions will announce new coach end of next week. Roos says he has spoken to them once. Also says he hasn't changed on coaching interest from what he told PJ. That means if he is to coach Lions and be announced next week, he will have to change his mind quickly, or someone is telling porkies.2 points

I really don't understand why everyone wants to trade Watts........He has had a pretty good season and will just keep getting better as he matures....... I think we need a midfield but not at the expense of players who imo will keep getting better...... Watts in a good side would be icing on the cake..... Trading is a bit over rated.......IMO2 points

being a premiership coach means knowing whats required to win one, roos and choco could sell the most hope2 points

No need to panic. There will be more experienced and good coaches looking for jobs than positions available. While Roos might be the favourite with supporters, Williams, Eade, Laidley, Ratten, Voss, Harvey, etc all have something to offer and should not be considered as "second-best". Which is the best of that lot? I have no idea - that's why we have a selection panel.2 points

Gary Pert said some weeks ago that PJ had spoken to him to agree on how they would approach Eade without disrupting the Pies. He was very appreciative that PJ was doing it this way and said he would work to facilitate any contact. I'm sure they won't stop talks taking place before the end of their season. I would say they don't want an announcement made before then, that's all. They won't want to go through what they did with sacking Neeld in the middle of their finals campaign which apparently had a significant impact.2 points

I think Eade is good for getting us from where we are to a contender. I'm perfectly comfortable with him doing that, then making way for a flag-capable coach at a later stage, rather than, like the doggies, riding along with Eade until the chance is gone. We've gotta take those first steps, then we reassess.2 points

So because there's speculation that Roos may be linked to the Brisbane job "he's not that good anyway" and "it was really Lyon and Longmire that should take the credit". Speculation from people not equipped to know. And heresay from expert "Geelong" sources. Classic Demonland.2 points
