7th of August, 2013 To whom this may concern, The apostrophe has now been removed from my previous post #1778. I am terribly sorry about this mistake. I promise to check all spelling and grammar for now on. Regards, alias2758 points

This just reaffirmed my belief that half of the posters on this site just need a go out and get a good shag....7 points

Why do some find the need to include an apostrophe in the name Roos? It's Roos, not Roo's. Or should we start referring to Nathan Jone's, Jack Watt's, Jack Grime's, Chris Dawe's etc?7 points

If we hire a coach for any reason other than he is the best choice to coach the team to success, we will have already failed. The team starts winning and the supporters, members, sponsors and wider football community will all "buy-in".6 points

Wellman! This is the guy that bolted to Essendon less than a month after signing a three year contract with us. Can rot in hell for mine.5 points

i do worry about this but it's two years off and i'm more worried about fixing our club at this present time.4 points

Yep Tyler has his Year 12 exams next month. Dylan has finished school. Dylan plays for the UNSW/ES Bulldogs. Bounces pretty much between Premier and 1st Division in the Sydney AFL. He was on the same Swans Under 18 Academy with Brandon Jack (same age) and we know who Brandon now plays for. Dylan has more interest in Basketball than AFL and I believe he has no interest in an AFL career. Tyler from what I've heard doesn't play at all. So by November Roos has both his boys out of Cranbrook School. This is why he hasn't brought it up this year. edit: Removed my accidental yet so irritating apostrophe from Roos, just for the grammar Police.4 points

Jack Martin signs contract extension and Jesse Hogan doesn't so Hogan must be gone. Isn't the Human brain amazing in how it can make logic jumps like that? When Hogan's contract expires in two years from now he'll have a nice Melbourne local girlfriend, will be living with a couple of his best mates that he'll have been playing footy with for 3 years, and will have had a taste of the absolute worship that will come with being a star footballer. Even if he's homesick now, if he still is by late 2015 I'll be staggered.4 points

Knew he was gone when he had his media conference and said he had not had contact with GWS. He had travelled to Sydney the previous Christmas to speak with them personally. Was told as much by a Scully family member. No need to lie unless he was leaving, so was not necessarily dumb luck.4 points

That would explain why he was on the 5:30am flight out of Melbourne the other week.4 points

I must admit I have a different view. I was never expecting ASADA to get positive test results and nor would I expect paperwork to be in order for such an investigation. But I don't see why that means that the players should get off or be seen as innocent? Whilst I think the players are victims of a 'pack mentality' where there would have been a lot of pressure to sign up and do things because everyone else has done so... I am still very dubious of the fact that these players didn't think something funny was going on either. How more 'innocent' are these guys than Ahmed Saad really? I think they are all idiots, and the EFC has let them down very badly. If every players escape penalty here, I would be amazed, and ASADA would look like a joke to the rest of the world in my opinion. The AFL are conflicted in this because they don't want to damage their competition by suspending half the players, but if that is what it takes, it should be done. Melb Storm played a season without points, they came through it, why would the EFC and their 50k odd members be any different?3 points

I have a funny feeling we're only seeing the start of things now. The various parties are positioning themselves. They are shoring up their defences ( with wigs ) and posturing prior to the real stoush. I also think that for the first time in a long whiles Demetriou may well and truly come unstuck. This is not totally his circus though without doubt a star clown. This is not some inclusive look and see/ slap on wrist between Essendon and the League, even if thats what they might like it to be. We have other outside interested parties. WADA, ASADA The AFLPA, The Gov itself and then we have the disgruntled. Robinson, and Dank. Dont forget the self serving piousness of the media ( well certain elements therein ). Grab your seats oh....and like a dam...it will take only one well placed crack Once the fabric of cohesiveness breaks it will be catastrophic.3 points

He is signed until 2015. And his agent not negotiating, if that is the case, is just another case, like Watts, of an agent doing his due diligence and protecting his client. Billy2803 is a poster here and he has said that if we hire an inexperienced coach he won't support the club anymore. But we expect our employees stuck in limbo to show ultimate loyalty? Make some good additions to the FD and hire a proven coach and we will keep these players. Note: I do not mention billy to ridicule, only to point out our expectations and our hypocrisy.2 points

Have we offered him a contract extension - maybe. I'm sure we would've at least discussed it. But it's not really an issue. And his homesickness is likely real but again it's not a huge problem right now. We've deliberately managed him and given him plenty of trips home to Perth so he stays healthy and fresh mentally and physically. I fully expect as he starts playing games over the next 2 seasons he'll get more of a sense of pride for the jumper. Plus he'll keep making new friends and settling in. Every club has had guys who are completely homesick early and then once they settle in can't imagine ever leaving. The most important thing we can do for Hogan is turn up next year and cheer when he does something good and not be too hard on him if he struggles to adapt to AFL level straight away.2 points

he is contracted til 2015, i know for a fact he is loving melbourne so im not concerned at all infact well done to the young man.2 points

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-08-07/hogan-happy-to-wait Says we haven't even offered him a contract extension, nothing about him not agreeing to anything.2 points

Don't think anything will happen tomorrow. The players will get off, the club will get 2mil fine, lose points this year (useless) and draft penalties for this year only. Will be the biggest joke since..., well since forever!2 points

A lot sort of depends on when any fines and penalties can/will be handed down. I really dont think there will be anything clear until after the season, finals included. Personally Id really like to see the bustards have to play a season for NO points.. Just let them wallow in the futility of it. Storm did. They survived. The loss of the first two rounds of draft picks for 2 seasons 2M in club fines Monetary fines for those who seemingly too the AOD ( because as OD and others keep telling me thats most likely ) Any player who took anything else Thyomsin etc 2 year ban or reduced to 12m if mitigation is applied. Hird banned for 10 years for being a fwit2 points
-
Records of who took the banned drug were not kept(or conveniently shredded) before the bombers handed themselves in. So to be on the safe side all players must be banned for 2 years. The records might suddenly appear then.2 points

You could say the same about anymore involved in MFC, including the supporters.2 points

Roos was speaking at the NGV tonight. Bucks, Ball, The North Leadership Group among the attendees. Didn't see any dees there but there were a couple of hundred in attendance. He was asked about the Melbourne coaching job by none other than Ron Barassi himself. Every other answer he gave that night was long with explanation, with that it was a simple no. However, for the rest of the night he used Melbourne as an example when he was talking about building culture within an organisation, getting the right people in etc. He thinks the world of PJ.2 points

Just a heads up Frosty.... If you are going to get stuck into arguably our best player for being "terrible" the last four years, you might want to remember that he was an AA in 2010. And that he has a significant hamstring injury that will prevent him from 'firing up', as you say, for the next 3-4 weeks. 'Terrible' is how I would describe this thread.2 points
-
We would not get near the kind of deal I would want to move him. And like I care that he isn't showing ultimate loyalty to this club. We have not been ultimately competent and The Jack Watts Experience is Exhibit A in the trial of this club's terrible culture of overreliance on draft picks and nonchalant development. Jack Trengove showed after 186 that he has the kind of loyalty as a Demon that he re-signed in a dark period. And what has that gotten him? A whole lot of nothing. I hope we keep Watts and the next coach gets something out of him.2 points

A lot of the points I was going to make have been mentioned but playing within limitations is very important. For example, Tom McDonald should never be allowed to kick across the face of goal.2 points

"we have no leadership" I know how to fix this. trade our two best leaders. good logic. possibly the stupidest thing ive ever read.2 points

I am awake. If he is still avoiding the hard ball after a year of Roos at the helm i will believe you. Until then i keep saying he has not had the coaching needed.2 points
