  1. Sick of these "cannibalistic" threads.

  2. Overreaction. He had a few awful clangers, but his first quarter was fantastic and he has been far better in 2012 than 2011.

  3. Cale Morton ran off the ground and supporters around me were cheering. FFS imagine running off with 30,000 people heckling you, then having the coach yell at you. You would want to bury yourself! He obviously did not turn the ball over on purpose, and as annoyed as we and Neeld were, I bet nobody was angrier or felt worse than Morton. Give him a break FFS. If Neeld was so furious he would have subbed him off. End of story.

  4. I think one of the best things to come out of today was the fact that at 2 or 3 times the floodgates really could have opened, and we could have ended up 80 points down, but we didn't.

  5. Tapscott was totally out of order, they should have both been stretchered from the ground.... GO BULL!

  6. Good old Strawberry Fields Morton's is having the best year he's ever had, so he made a mistake, he ain't the only one. Picture. Big. Observe

  7. While we're on the subject of Demon sites, I don't think we should underestimate the value and importance of DemonWiki as a fantastic resource about all things Melbourne. I'm researching for an article at the moment and found it invaluable. I think it's time the MFC recognised its importance from the historical perspective of the club. I often hear Cameron Schwab and Neil Craig talk about the history and traditions of the club and I know there are some good books around but DemonWiki is a gem of a site. Of course, Demonland and Demonology have both become a small part of that tradition for many of us and both deserve to continue on for the benefit of the members and supporters.

  8. I rewound it twice and Neeld said,"Cale, kick it long down the f**king line" No big deal.

  9. take out the first quarter and we played well IMO

  10. WTF is this thread about?! Tappy did nothing wrong. Bit late, but so be it. He didn't hit someone behind the play, he didn't target the head. At worse he'll get a week off, and Collingwood will think twice next time they play us. I loved it, and I hope he goes harder against Scully if he is not suspended.

  11. Jones used to get caught holding the ball going to buy milk. He always did too much, he always tried to be better than he was. Now he is our best midfielder by an absolute mile. I don't care if Blease goes for a run and gets caught twice a game. He has played barely 20 games, and if that's what it takes for him to grow in confidence, then so be it. His pace and disposal are his assets. And as long as he goes hard when required, and two weeks in a row now he's copped heavy hits because he put himself in the middle of the contest, then let him be. It's not selfish play if you're alone against 3 opponents and you burn them off with your pace. It's selfish play if you're Moloney and you try to blind turn 9 times when you have a teammate next to you waiting for the handball receive.

  13. Far too easy for the simpleton supporter to pick up on that clanger 4 minutes in to the third and let rip. I saw numerous "1%ers" and "pressure acts" where he was willing to put his 42 kg frame in and take the game on. You saw that clanger - which Little Jonny No-Brains could have picked up on - and now claim to be a f*ing expert on his future. The kid won't justify pick 4 and pretty much everyone concedes on that. But he can amount to being a "good ordinary player" and he's trying hard to be that player.

  14. Somebody please explain how long you can hold a player out/down before and after he has the ball because those flouro maggots were all over the shop today . OPSM being their sponsor is yet another sick joke designed to put me in a mental hospital . Take out those annoying twerps and their deluded attempts to befriend the big name players and take out the first 10 minutes of the 1st and last quarters and I would be a lot happier than I am. This forum already has a couple of people who agree with Bruce McAveney that Tappy was "dangerous". Suck it up ladies-people get hurt out there-when your team is crap and someone is menacing and threatening violence that is what you call a good thing . It's rough and tough out there and Tappy did well . Apart from that- I think I will make it to next week .

  15. I actually didn't think the first quarter was that bad from an effort point of view. I thought we tried, as we did all game, but a combination of bad decision making and poor execution (along with Collingwood's efficient ball movement) meant that we got punished every time they went forward. Brad Green's miss was a shocker as we needed that goal to steady ourselves. Instead the steadier didn't come until midway through the second quarter. Green's been a sensational player for us but it's been fairly obvious this year that he struggles with the pace of the game. If you're not a marking forward or a quick crumber, you need to be able to run and go through the midfield and that's where Green is struggling. But overall I was pleased with the effort. At 8 goals to 0 we could have been smashed, and again in the last they could have run away with a 15 goal win. But we fought back both times and while we never really looked like winning, we at least kept them honest and forced them to lift to fight us off again. At the end of the day we're near the bottom and they're at the top for a reason. They are a classy side and I thought that the level of class was the key difference in the game. I walked away pleased that for three weeks in a row we've had a real crack and have really only been let down by simply not being talented enough. If we can inject some young talented midfielders into that side and they maintain that level of effort then I'm confident we can turn things around fairly quickly. And finally well done Jonesy, what a season he's having. Sensational.

  16. Posted this in match day thread but obviously belongs here. .... I'm quite happy to have a player with unwavering c@&$ in him that will do these things to upset other teams and players. If it causes a few suspensions here or there, fine. We need opposition players to be fearful of the Demons. If Tappy brings that to the table then we are one step closer to success in my opinion.

  19. Absolutely no issue with Tapscott showing some much needed aggression. With Viney coming in next year we better get used to it. I can't wait.

  20. Interesting. Why do you think I'm right? If it's just because my opinion happens to agree with todays atrociously inconsistent umpiring team, then that's no ringing endorsement at all!

  23. A very poor coaching decision to put 2 players behind the ball in the first quarter, allowing the Pies an extra 2 players at each contest. They killed us around the stoppages for this reason and just kicked over our spare 2's heads for goals. This mistake was rectified at 1/4 time when we went man on man and from then on,we lost the game by 7 POINTS!!!!!!!

  24. Here here Jaded. Nobody anyone's opinion on Cale Morton, it was disgraceful to hear MFC fans collectively booing a player wearing the red and blue jumper as they ran off the ground. The turnover was terrible as he had options on the boundary, but the booing IMO was not on.

  25. And a big congratulations to all who "cheered" him off the ground after it. I didn't know we had so many high-school twats in the MCC. Did you guys rush to your phones and type "SPUD" into your Facebook status? Give me a spell ...

  26. 3 things that would have made this game better: 1- a first quarter that wasn't as utterly as embarrassing, weak or uncompetitive as it was. Can't win a game with that sort of pathetic start. Unacceptable. 2- If Tappy hit and injured a few more Filth players. Should have hit Fasolo harder. 3- If the umpires could show some sort of consistency. AND USE THE DAMN VIDEO UMPIRING AT APPROPRIATE TIMES!!

  29. Can people please get real for a second. Morton shouldn't be dropped because of one turnover. He's a confidence player. He needs to play some consistent footy. He played some good footy today minus turnovers. Couch will NOT be put into the team unless one of Moloney, Magner or McKenzie are dropped. We can't have too many averaged-paced inside mids. Magner possibility to be dropped/rested. Cook will NOT be put into the team until he has the requisite fitness to play out a full game. At the moment, he's young and coming off injuries so clearly only can play a half at full tilt. Until that fitness comes, let him develop nicely at Casey's number one target at full forward! Davey, Bail and Bartram are strong and only chances to return after the bye I would have thought.

  30. This game must surely put to rest the argument about the game plan changing! It has absolutely, categorically, evolved and/or changed for the better - but now it is time to put a massive amount of time and work into developing the skill levels required to turn this game style into success!

  36. The reason for this is that we have most of our midfielders trying to stop the other teams. Who is actually trying to win the ball? Jones maybe. Do you think the likes of Swan, Thomas, Beams and Sidebottom are spending all their juice trying to stop McKenzie, Magner, Morton and Moloney? Or do they just get in and win the ball? Our midfield is putrid. Whenn the game was still slightly in the balance at the start of the 4th quarter, 3 clearances to the Pies in 3 minutes for 3 goals. Game over.

  37. Jamar wins most of the centre bounce taps but almost always taps it to the opposition. Surely if he is goof enough to win the tap then he is good enough to put it down Moloney, Trengove or McKenzies throat! We were smashed in the middle all day today (except when Clark rucked).

  38. Im sorry but if Jack watts has to go to casey then surely it's Jack trengrove's turn he is well down on form. I love the kid but he has no impact on game anymore and needs to go get some form just like Watt's.

  49. Not so long ago football disappeared from the sports pages mid week. There was the Monday match reports/wrap up of the round, and if we were lucky Tribunal hearings on a Tuesday night. Then it was dead until we had team selections Thurs night - Friday morning's paper. Because of the proliferation of pay tv and sports radio we now have so much extra time to fill and the fall off in quality is obvious. Now we are supposed to give a rats about every third rate opinion - sorry I don't. Take a look at Caro Wilson's back page lead on Tuesday - it was comment masquerading as news - that's where we've got to. Opinion outweighs facts. King is just a low rent instance of this truth.
