Don't see why people even care. Its a multi-faith room that anyone of any religious belief is free to use. I've never had the need to use the parents changing room, but that caters to a segment of the population too.4 points

I don't get it. That is the lamest bench I think I've ever seen. Why does the squib Morton keep getting a go. Alright MFC, I get it- he was pick 4 and you must exaust all efforts before you make a call, but I can tell you something that I and everyone else knows it- even if they won't admit it. He won't make it. He won't make it for the home and away season and certainly not in the rough and tumble world of finals. We are waisting games on this kid and it is frustrating me to no end! Macdonald and Dunn don't belong in the team either. Sellar looks like a stop gap at best. We play all these guys and yet Martin gets dropped. Martin has shown a lot more than any of these guys. Why does Morton keep getting chances and yet Martin is dropped when Casey has a bye FFS! Way to develop him you spuds! Don't even get me started on the Couch situation. Why promote someone you have no intent on playing. Give Fitzy a run too! This match selection panel have cob webs in their heads. Bloody sick of it!3 points

I'm hopeful, but not confident. Last game for a while where we have any hope whatsoever, so I'm clinging to it for dear life.3 points

Fast ball movement depends on team-mates getting into a position to receive the ball before their opponents cover the man/space. At the moment Neeld is clearly working on first phase footy, which is winning the contested ball (Tick. VG), and will no doubt develop second phase footy, which is getting players in the right spot to receive the ball (Needs to improve - a lot).2 points

Cool, so Satanists will be able to undertake rituals and sacrifices next to Jews, Christians and Moslems? Who knows, some Black Magik might be just the cure for what ails the MFC.2 points

I agree with you Deers. I cop heaps of cra p for being a passionate Dees supporter - especially living in Sydney. My response to this is always, " ... unlike you pr1cks, I have character. I could easily choose another franchise/more successful club to support, but my loyalties can't be bought. And cop a tip - the clubs you support would love to have the core MFC supporters behind them - because we stick behind a club that hasn't exactly given us a lot of joy over the past few decades. Supporters of the Swans, the Toyota Camrys and several other franchises would have skipped the coop long ago if they had to endure our run." I also say this to kids who support the Dees. Stick in there - it shows character. It's easy to support some cliched club that's always competitive and that all your friends support - it's much harder to show loyalty to a club that isn't quite as cool. But, at the end of the day, you know who'll have the most respect as a person and a supporter. Gallipoli wasn't exactly a successful invasion - but it did say a lot about Aussie character, and that's why it's now such a celebrated and iconic part of our history. In much the same way, for all the heat we've endured in this journey, I reckon a lot of people will not resent any success that ultimately comes our way. And it's for this very reason. ------------------------------------------------------------------- As an aside, whenever a friend of mine has a kid, I give the kid a Demon beanie bear - they're only about 10 bucks. Despite generally having many more expensive fluffy toys in the cot, it's bizarre how many of the kids only want to hold the Demon beanie bear. I'd like to think I'm programming their minds before they even know what's going on. My mates don't particularly like giving their kids anything red & blue, but, because it's a present for their kids (not them), they generally feel obliged to let their kids have the beanie bears. Even if it only converts a few, it'll be worth it.2 points

Call me naive, but I trust that the selection committee have reasons for their decisions. We all see the superficial stuff during the games. The dropped mark, the turnovers, the poor second efforts, the odd shirking of contact. And that's just Morton But seriously, we don't see the adherence to structure, the defensive mindset, the players doing exactly what the coaches ask of them. They obviously see things that us supporters don't and would in no way miss what we see, especially with how precise and intense post-game video analysis is these days. So if they don't see a fit for Couch this week, so be it. If Petterd hasn't done enough, so be it. If MacDonald is offering what they're looking for, so be it. As far as Davey is concerned, all he could be expected to do was improve on his performance that saw him dropped and I don't think anyone could say his Round 3 game wasn't an improvement on his Round 1 game, surely. Would I have picked this team if it was up to me? No. Would I play the players in the positions they have been named if it was my choice? Hell no. But the fact is, it's not up to me, so my opinion means bugger all. The worst part of all the whining and complaining about the selected team is that if one of the questionable selections has a shocker everyone jumps in as if they knew it would happen and the coaches are morons for picking them etc. But you never hear someone say how wrong they were if the questionable selection has a blinder. How safe and warm it is in front of our screens, criticising those who have the burden of putting their credentials on the paddock every weekend while our main concern is which train to catch or where to park so it doesn't take too long to get the hell out of there after the final siren. Go Dees!1 point

Wow..... ring in the amazing changes Demons. Honestly, how we can't find a place for Couch, assuming he stays as emergency....but we can find one for J Mac and retain Morton...words fail me. Bate, Morton staying? Even Tappy who i'm sure will be better for the run...IF he's played down back somewhere....but still....hasn't earned it based on last weeks performance (or any other in the VFL so far). Common guys. This is such an uninspiring plodding club right now, even off the field (selection wise). If we're gonna keep rewarding under performance then IMO we get what we deserve on the field....and eventually it'll come back to bite our arse off the field too! You'll find decent goers (even though they might not be up to the required grade in the wash up) like Couch & Magner......will be off elsewhere pretty quickly once they get a sniff of this BS. Then we'll be left with the cream...like Morton, J Mac, Bate, Davey, Bartram etc ....who'll play for as long as we keep giving them a go....UFB MFC.1 point

Well.... theyre rolling the dice arent they.. ( maybe theyre loaded !!) Well sometimes you just turn up and hope its not a bath, hope theres something akin to a crack and sometimes you just hope. I barrack for Melbourne and always will,, ill cheer them on come Sunday...but I picked the pups in the footy tipping. Call me what you will but tipping calls for pragmatism, turning up only requires blind faith !!!1 point

That shot is not from Base Camp, we have made some progress since it was taken, even through the Bailey years, although some find it hard to believe.1 point

Hodge, Ball and Judd were unanimous top 3 in 2001 and the Eagles had pick 3 - yeah they backed themselves to pick the one that was left. Or he took one look at the Junction Oval facilities ... well done Einstein! Next it'll be Napoleon and Hitler invaded Russia because of their love of biathlon.1 point

Good for you Rhino-perhaps you could share the cement you obviously had a cup of? Ski season doesn't phase me. Clubs hanging sh!t because we are soft, well, I question why the playing group doesn't change that view.1 point

No Petterd? Funny, when I think of Josh Kennedy-like players (i.e. someone who wasn't getting a game, who would be a great target for poaching) I can't come up with too many across the league, but I reckon Ricky would be one.1 point

Happy to have a slow midfield if they are a hard-running, hard-working midfield.1 point

We are slow .....or bumbling....regardless of who we put in there ATM....with the exception of Jones maybe. You've left Jones out and i realise he's being used on the ball a fair bit as well but i feel he can offer us something of a pace change up if used well. Not saying he's super quick but his agility, burst speed and quicker/more precise decision making (ie., quick kick into the forward 50 if needed) is a rung or 2 above the other 3 atm. I'd rather hit the opposition hard with tough hard nosed mids through the middle anyway at this point (given what's on offer for us as an alternative right now... ie., pretty much Zilch!) and stick it to them in the body on body with these three plus Jonesy rotating, than get smacked both on the inside and outside as we are at present having hulks like Morton running through there or Tappy/Trenners who have absolutely no idea in the middle (lost sheep). We need someone with genuine pace/agility/speed/clean/quick ball handling for sure....but until we uncover them, we gotta stop the bleeding and give our boys a slightly better chance to stem the flow....and give our defense a bit more time to set up....and a decent rest once in a while. Our defense is getting pummeled every week due to our crap performance in the middle (among other crap performances around the ground lol) atm.1 point

Totally agree. Doesn't lay many but he's one of the few that does....and not only that....when he does he at least sticks a decent tackle, unlike most others in our forward line such as Green, Petterd, Davey, Watts and Martin (when they're in there) who often get brushed aside in the tackle or lay a neck high tackle (which doesn't involve too much body on body.....soft way out IMO). Maybe Howe the only other who's able to actually get his hands on the opposition and stick a decent tackle in the forward line recently. Not only that, if you watch Dunn's bodywork and positioning in the forward line, he has an ok read on the play and a very capable contested mark using his body pretty well in the contest. With the exception of Clark, uses the limited opportunities given in our forward line reasonably well compared to our other non-existent/inconsistent forwards. And no i'm not saying Dunn's the answer up forward long term, nor a stellar performer for us in a comparative sense to other club's top forwards by any means. But, until we find someone better....he's a must have. And as i've said many times before, one of the few players who can kick a roost goal from 50 or just outside in the team from a set shot. There's few others who can apart from Howe and Jones. He also doesn't take any crap....which doesn't make anyone an automatic "in" i realise, but at least he gives back as good as he gets. Downside is he's pretty slow paced and sluggish as forwards go but then he has plenty of mates lol.1 point

If I had a left nut, I'd give it to have Ross Lyon as our coach. I rate him hugely.1 point

Gee it's a funny game isn't it? I think I recall about 9 or 10 months ago when posters were wondering why we feel the need to play on at every opportunity. Bailey's game plan is ridiculous. We need to savour our possessions and take our time. From one extreme to the other I guess.1 point
-
Yep....i think he was asked something along the lines of "what was the main focus for you when taking on the new team?". And his response went something like "The biggest key for me is without doubt get a few early wins on the board to fuel the belief factor". One of the reasons we desperately needed the win against Brisbane first up IMO, especially given the trip that was up next. Freo have the luxury of 'genuine' home games to ensure they're at least a reasonable chance of winning a few early ones anyway, plus a much advanced/more senior playing list of course which showed up against the gritty win against the Cats.1 point

So, let me get this straight, prayer rooms are already in place at three AFL stadiums, including our own. There is a request to extend that to other interstate grounds. People have a whinge about the cost, of which I doubt they have any idea of a figure and to further highlight that I doubt that they knew that such rooms already existed at the MCG, Etihad or ANZ Stadium. Honestly, what a non "issue."1 point
-
The xenophobia here is palpable. Why should it concern you in the slightest? How exactly will it impact on you in any way? Providing prayer rooms these days is a commonly-accepted necessity as much as universal access (wheelchair access in layman's terms).1 point

Trav had more time ans space than the starship enterprise He and Farmer were the greats that I loved to watch and watch and watch Remember in 1998, I think it was his first game he kicked the winning goal against the Pies (Trav that is) His game against the Crows in that 2002 final was as magnificent a performance as I have ever seen1 point

Inate talent? Then the recruiting should be held accountable, not Travis? Gee, he's playing a game at Chelsea and the same olds still can't let go. He's at least a # 1 capable ticket holder in 2010's! Many more at Melbourne have disappointed more than Travis, some still to today and both on and off the field. I'll continue to enjoy some of the memories. Good luck to you # 16.1 point

How often have you said, "it's not the draft picks" ? We all know that they need to be developed and have $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ spent on them. And we all know that this wasn't happening enough at the MFC. No revelations there. It was more appropriate when a chimp was your avatar.1 point

But wait, there is a pattern here and it's obvious, you are wasting everyone's time, but fortunately not mine any more.1 point

My fondest memory of Travis was when Matty Whelan polaxed James Hird and Trapper swooped on a loose ball then banged it from the Boundry 55m out Ponsford end. The roar from the crowd was spine tingling.1 point

I strongly supported it in 2009, but it was a massive emotional drain that I still haven't recovered from. I couldn't support it again I don't think. Plus I don't think there's any need. Just like in 2008, I think we're about bad enough to lose enough games on merit anyway.1 point
