Absolutely DC. I just hope he can find players that can run out forequarters...5 points

Mitch Clark kicked 5 goals last week. Ben Hudson is dropped this week. Do people still regard Matthew's opinion too highly?4 points

Well , we can send Eddie and Nathan off to the 'Easter Islands' . They'll probably look familiar to the locals so they'll fit right in . As for their fans . Stop all centrelink payments . The money we save can pay off the Greek national debt . We at Melbourne can help ease their salary cap pressure by offering Cloke a new home . That'll do for starters !3 points

Agree cant stand Buckley, Collingwood or for that matter Carlton... Can't they both lose?3 points

Credit where credit is due> If the CEO has to take responsibility for not securing a sponsor, he gets to take to take the credit and kudos when one is secured.3 points

What...he has played 2 quarters of footy on the ball so far, and has managed to rack up the touches in that time. And not to mention both times he has come on he has been thrust into a midfield which is being destroyed and more than held his own. I am not saying he is going to become Chris Judd but I wouldn't be abandoning it already after investing a whole pre-season and turning down a trade for it.3 points

I've been watching the Pies getting touched up by Carlton and I'm finding it very upsetting to see Eddie grimacing every time the camera pans onto his tormented face and body. The bloke came to our help last week when we lost EnergyWatch and his impassioned pleas for a new sponsor eventually bore fruit for us. Bottom line is that we should be grateful to Eddie, bow, scrape and genuflect before the great one. But now that it's his club that seems to be on the nose, it's our turn to come up with ideas to help Eddie and his great club to overcome their moment of adversity. Any ideas as to what we can do to help?2 points

I think their personalities are too big to not be involved. Hird I reckon will come good, very intelligent guy with a lot of empathy for those around him, but Buckley will probably go the way of Voss and be more frustrated with a lack of intensity than trying to mentor the young kids. They were at their best when being able to lead by example but when it comes to stepping back and leading a team from behind the glass, I don't think it's gonna work. You could see in the way Buckley was reacting to the game, he wasn't analysing it trying to to work out what needed to be changed, he was getting angry with small mistakes and in the end it all compounded. I reckon they'll have to put aside their own passion and their idea of how the game should be played if they want to become good coaches. The problem with those two is that they can see every player as a reflection of themselves and very few were as hard at it and putting in as much as those two so everyone on the ground is immediately not putting in as much as they should be. Getting angry about it is only going to hurt them in the end. All the same it doesn't heaps worry me if it gives us two teams we can eventually walk over.2 points

I have Pendles, but my opponent has him as Captain. I'm happy to take the hit this week if it means my enemy's captain is out of the equation.2 points

Maybe we should campaign to get Dane Swan on The Biggest Loser. He's looking a little porky.2 points

I'm of the opinion that our side desperately needs someone to do what Judd did for Carlton in 2008 - someone with skill and leadership in equal measure. Goddard definitely fits the bill, but at nearly 27, he may only give us 3 good seasons. It would definitely be worth considering, but the price may just be too high - especially if the Saints demand both compensation picks in return. Still, it would be a nice feeling going into 2013 armed with Goddard and Viney.2 points

And players that can kick the bloody thing well. I'm sick of our blokes that continually shank it.2 points

Uhh, you realise this guy is essentially just a spotter, right? This is essentially an entry-level position in to the footy industry for those who don't have a passage in through playing. All the clubs have lots of guys on the payroll like this, both full time and part time, including ours. There's a guy who used to be a regular on Demonland that made his way in to the footy industry this way. The "tried and proven" candidates all have better jobs. Asking for Pelchen or "the Geelong guy" to fill this role would be like asking for George Calombaris to apply for the role of kitchen hand.2 points

Not all of Joel's turnovers convert to a goal, and regardless, I don't think he is the reason for us losing by 100+ points. Tough ask now for Greeny, this is now about his character and attitude. I hope for his sake that he can work is butt off and return to the senior side, and get to play a good amount of games in what would appear to be his final season. He has been a great clubman, a great footballer for the MFC, and while there are no passengers, he deserves to leave the game with integrity, and I'm sure Neeld & Co are of the same opinion.2 points

Who's this Addam Maric guy? Sounds like a gun. I hope Neeld assigns a heavy tag to him.2 points

Greeny's a classy guy. His twitter reactions speak for themselves: "Thank's for the msg's. I have the utmost respect for Neeldy, we always have open and honest discussions. The reason I am not picked is form." "Get behind the boys on Sat, I want to see a huge demon crowd at the MCG... I will be doing everything I can to get back in the side...." Hopefully he can recapture some of his form from 2010. There's a reason we were all clamouring for him to be given the captaincy at the end of that year.2 points

I'm led to believe that we have an agreement in place that the Collingwood assistant recruiter Jason Taylor will be announced as our head recruiter at the start of the 2013 season. My understanding is that whilst he has accepted to take on the role Collingwood has refused to release him from his contract, going against somewhat of an AFL convention that staff are free to pursue more enticing positions. This is why Eddie came out a few months ago in the media and threw that hissy fit.2 points

I think most of us lost some respect for Matthews when he had a go at Jack Watts after his second game. Having a crack at an 18yr old in his 2nd game when he kicks a couple of goals and takes some handy marks. Now he is saying that Clark will not be as good a recruit as Hudson is just ridiculous. Hudson will be lucky to play 10 games for the lions before he retires for a second time and Mitch will be with us for the next 6-8 years. Sometimes these old commentators make stupid comments to seem relivent...you can say the same thing about Malthouse.1 point

Yes. And the timing in this instance (due to EW debacle) has given Webjet so much more exposure than would normally be expected.1 point

Get on with plenty. Their backline are pygmies. Disposal wise, none of them could hit a cow's arse with a banjo. Their clearance work is worse than ours. Their top level midfielders are superior to ours but they fall away quickly. Their forward line is Riewoldt - yeah, good player - Miller & Maric Get on with plenty C&B1 point

That can't be right. Several usually means three or more. It's a one year contract, and the old one was for an unprecedented 2 million dollars. Unless the two-year extension is included in the "several million dollar" figure, this report appears incorrect.1 point
-
According to an article now appearing in Real Footy: "The amount was not revealed, but it is believed to be worth several million dollars." Full article is here: http://www.smh.com.au/afl/afl-news/dees-fly-with-new-sponsor-20120412-1wwyz.html1 point

iSelect have stupid amounts of cash too. I've been inside their offices, and they installed a slide for the staff to get from the 2nd floor down to ground. They honestly seem to be looking for ideas to spend money on. When quoting to them, you know to add on a healthy margin. Get in there CS! Webjet.1 point

Gary Lyon bringing up that Hudson was dropped, then points out that he was meant to be a better recruit than Clark according to Leigh Mathews hahahaha nice work Gaz -asked it as a question to, without really making the big deal about it, just with a soft tone in his voice......made me quite happy "wasnt he meant to be a better recruit than Mitch Clark?"1 point

Finally some good news. As for their logo, big is not too big given our recent predicament. I hope it distracts the Richmond players.1 point

Agree 100% JM - but aggression and mongrel without getting the footy doesn't work. Look, I feel that I'm shooting Bambi, but honestly, Ricky has been very disappointing the last couple of seasons.....1 point

I guess now I'll have to actually book with them, instead of just using them to check the available flights and then going direct to the airline to avoid the webjet booking fee. I guess this has more to do with the fact that most of my travel is really simple; no car rentals, no hotel bookings, just flights to and from. I'd imagine if you were looking to plan and book a whole trip to, say, NT in July, webjet comes into it's own there. It would make sense that the rumoured 'secondary sponsor' would be a destination. So maybe NT it is? Or 'China'. All of it. MFC is now sponsored by the People's Republic. The entire population has been instructed to clap once during each game... 140,000 claps per second ought to help get the boys over the line.1 point

Indeed - the fact that they've got two players in their side who were not good enough to get a run with our bunch says plenty.1 point

No experience? Vic Metro assistant 2 years running. Can you name any of Geelong or Collingwood's "big name" recruiting officers? Pelchen is employed by St Kilda in a much higher role, as is "the Geelong guy" Stephen Wells at Geelong. One just started in a role where you'd expect he wants to stay for a while and make his impression, the other firmly entrenched for 20+ years and part of the furniture. Not likely.1 point

We don't know why Davey didn't play at Casey. Maybe his knee was a bit sore (which wouldn't make him a sensible emergency - unless there was no intention of playing him or anyone else and therefore an injured player was picked as an emergency to ensure fit players got real game time with Casey). Maybe the club decided after his week from hell his mind wasn't right to play with anyone last week (my preferred theory, by the way). Maybe he's over his physical and mental problems and now has his mind and his body right so he's ready to play. At least, I hope so.1 point
