We all jump on this site and give our opinions, but today 23,000 people attended a game between two Victorian clubs, IMO 75% North Melbourne supporters so I would love to know which posters on this site attend todays game. Because if you didn't you let the club down just as much as the players.

I was there. Two thirds of the total crowd were Kangaroo supporters.

Sometimes people forget how to support their team through good times and in BAD.

I was there - usually get at least one of my kids to come but none of them were interested today - can't blame them and I guess I spared them the pain.

I am loyal (stupid) and will go to every Melbourne game even if we don't win one all season.

I have the same disease

It sucks! Hate it - sick of all the hilarious jibes and it is only round 4! Still, you have to take the good with the bad and surely we are due some good some time soon - any season now.......anytime will do........please........

Do we all need to stand on mass and boo the crap out of them?????? I know that is really mean and won't achieve anything but gees they are so bloody frustrating at the moment.

Posted

I was there left with about 1 minute to go so I would miss the crush.

Will go again next week but it is getting harder with each loss and I wonder why I bother, this lot don't seem to care so why should I?

Turning up on mass will be a start. I am really concerned about our club, I get to every Melb home games and usually most Melb Vic. away games but IMO we would be lucky to have 10,000 supporters that are like me die hard get to the footy supporters. The way we are going we will get under 10,000 to our home game against Fremantle in three weeks that is crap. We will be the next AFL relocation target unless we all get to the footy. Don't kid yourselves our name can only save us for so long.

We will loose money, no doubt. We should sell these games to whoever will give us a buck for them. The club is going to bleed to death at this rate.

Did anybody else hear the Paul McNamee interview on ABC radio before the game this afternoon? Whilst I believe he spoke extremely well and has the passion (and I'm hoping, the ability) to turn around our current financial state, one thing he said completely summed up the 'support' (or lack thereof) that this club receives from it's own. A telemarketing campaign was recently undertaken in order to reach the elapsed members from last season, and from the thousands of calls made to those members yet to re-sign for season 2008, they were successful in signing up only 1 member.

He argued that the financial sustainability of the club should not have such a heavy reliance on it's on-field performance, and suggested that building and strengthening relationships within the corporate world would be the club's targeted major revenue streams. However, it begs the question, what potential sponsor would want to align themselves with the Melbourne Football Club if it's own 'supporters' will not?

The MFC have put themselves in a vulnerable position. The cry for members is loud, but with performances such as these, our HOME games against interstate teams are shaping to throw our club into financial turmoil. Something's got to give and unfortunately I don't think the club can afford to keep on going like this. On field success should now be a priority, because with this brings support from the members or supporters whether they are paid up or not, which in turn could really turn things around for the club. I hate sitting there week on week watching dismal performances, but it's what I do as a member and supporter - but there will be new members out there who refuse to jump onboard all because they don't see the benefit in supporting a team that is performing so poorly on field. Sad, but true.

I`m afraid I am infected with the same disease as well. I will never miss a game in Melbourne unless I am interstate or in hospital. Hang on a tick, I may well miss a game soon cos my heart can not take too much more of this pain! Guys ,we are in diabolical trouble. I doubt we will get another 500 new members for the rest of the year and as other posters have mentioned, we will struggle to get 10-12000 at the G against interstaters. If all of us sad n sorry diehards dont stand by our club we may just have to consider travelling across the railway to Olympic Park and jumping on the Storm bandwagon. There will be no Melbourne in the AFL. Yes , its hard to watch and yes its hard to listen to MFC supporters yelling ``kick it to number 10``but we have to show some spine ourselves despite the embarrasment. Geez it hurts, but I will be there through each and every pisspoor performance we put in for the next 2 years

I was there displaying schizophrenic behaviour.

First came rage, then came disbelief, then came sadness, then came amusement.

God knows I could have stayed home to do a logistics assignment due on Monday, but as if watching you team get smashed again isn't better!

Besides, I never miss a match in Melbourne. In fact, the Geelong game last week was the first Victorian match I missed since 2005 I think.

Can't wait for next week. Going with friends who barrack for Carlton. I don't know which one of us is suffering more right now.

I was there again and watch any improvement disappear after 30 seconds of today's game. If North were good they would have won by 100. I have supported this club for over 30 years and we have had some really bad sides in that time but I am struggling to remember a time we have been this bad. Carlton will beat us next week and I am really seriously wondering who we can beat.

Our skills are deplorable and the Chris Johnson kick in the forward line schmozzle has nothing to do with gameplan, coaching etc it was just plain embarrassing.

Can someone please enlighten me as to when Daniel Bell became a kick in specialist ????????

The only two shining lights today was Flash showing a bit and Cale Morton. If we can keep him away from our senior players he could be anything.

I have not seen nor heard any press conferences tonight but if Robbo is wheeled out to give us the lame excuses again I will spew. He is a big part of the problem. The last qtr just proves it.

If we are going to keep getting the results we are getting lets not do it with the team we have at the moment. Bring in Martin, Maric, Cheney, Macnamara, Frawley, Valenti, Zomer and anyone else who is young and get rid of the dead wood that are making us the laughing stock of the league.

God it is hard at the moment

That is a fairly easy question to answer!

Melbourne are a shitload worse than Carlton at the moment!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
