Port Melbourne vs. Sandringham

Saturday 5th April

TEAC Oval at 200pm.

Port Melbourne

B S Brewer Dalton Pleming

HB McGlynn Baird Dwyer

C Robbins Cotchett Nahas

HF Smith Pitt McGrath

F Livingston Bonaddio McMahon

Foll Fanning Pinwill Spriggs

Interchange (from) Cain S de Bruin Gilham McLaren Martin O'Keefe Pearce Thomas

Sandringham

B Bode Lamb Biddlecombe

HB Frawley Martin C Liddell

C Whelan Weetra Bate

HF Poyas Newton Yze

F Maric Crowe Sautner

Foll Jamar Summers Valenti

Interchange (from) Buckley Cheney M Johnston T Johnston Meesen Monaghan Warnock

Matthew Bate is back and playing on the wing for the Zebras and James Frawley who is one of the list of interchange players for the Melbourne game has been picked in a position in the Zebras team suggesting he will be named an emergency for the Cats game. Only 12 AFL listed players can take part because Port Melbourne is a stand alone club so expect some omissions as the Demons interchange bench is determined.

Barry, has Spencer been playing in the twos? Haven't heard or read anything at all about him. Presumably he, Zomer, McNamara and Cheney have all been in the twos.

He missed most of the pre season and has only played the last two games which were both practice matches. He's tall and gangly and needs plenty of time put into him but, other than that, it's too early to make a detailed assessment.

Hows McNamara been going? Getting a game in the 1's? Interested to see how the youngest player on an AFL list is going after a few appreances during the preseason.

Anyone know what Ricky Petterds injury is? I thought he would've been picked for Sandy this week after missing last week.

Can anyone confirm if this is televised on the ABC?

The Age website has a listing for VFL on the ABC from 1pm - 4pm but doesnt say which game (and I thought they generally only televised TEAC Oval games which would be 2pm - 5pm), the ABC website has unrelated shows listed all arvo and I couldnt find anything mentioing telecasts anywhere on the VFL website.

Ive emailed the ABC and got an automated response saying I would get a reply in up to 4 weeks <_<

Preferrably Ill head down to TEAC but if something pops up it would be nice to know if the TV options there or not.

LOL at Warnock in the SANDY RESERVES (no disrespect to Sandy meant)

Delisted at the end of the year. Why did we bother?

Oh well, at a time when the club identified that we needed key deenders he had shown a bit, so at the time you could argue he was worth a punt.

Bate can't get a game in our seniors while Miller the worst footballer in the AFL can. I knew Bailey was a [censored] but I didn't think that he had completely lost his mind.

I don't think that's really what's going on.. I think it's more that they're trying to ease Bate back into it after his injury??

Gee Lord Travis it must feel great to be right every time! Tell us how you cope.

Disappointing result brought about by some poor kicking for goal in the third quarter and a lack of discipline giving away a couple of 50m penalties allowing Port Melbourne to stay in the game. Matthew Whelan was in superb form and should be back in the red and blue next week. A couple of MFC emergencies weren't there indicating a possible chaneg or two tomorrow perhaps?

Missing were Jace Bode and Brent Moloney while Matthew Bate and Michael Newton were among the selected players who also did not play.

great news about wheels, will be welcome in our backline...

question about valenti, i've never remembered him kicking a lot of goals... is something he's just added to his game? barry do you think he should've been promoted ahead of wonaemerri? i do, however I guess the match committee were after a certain type of player...

BRB, Excuse my ignorance, but I'd be interested to know if Sandy's gameplan has changed at all this season. Do they play "run and carry" or a traditional "kick and numbers at the fall of the ball"?

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
