Yes shame no Rivers, and with that Full Forward line the Doggies are going to be running the ball out of defence so fast my heads spinning already.

true, davey is named on the bench, would love to see him start in a pocket, [censored] robbo off

Anyone who saw the game last week could see that we were absolutel run off our legs.

So no surprise to see that we dropped Moloney and Petterd (neither of whom had full preseason) and Yze (who doesn't have a big tank).

In comes Sylvia (with a full preseason and good form under his belt), Dunn (good endurance and full preseason) and Bartram (super endurance and running ability).

Before you call things 'absolute stupidity' how about you think about how one event affects another, which affects another, which affects another........

Moloney injured me thinks, no sense in dropping him at this stage....UNLESS...

'Calling all units, prepare the TANKS for battlestations'

One might think Round 2 might be a tad early but if you go and watch the 3rd qtr of last weeks game again you'd change your mind. I am not sadistic enough to suggest anyone should watch the entire game again

Petterd was rubbish on the weekend. IMO he was worse than either of Green or Bruce (which is clearly what you're getting at). Yes he had plenty of friends, but I certainly wouldn't have described his game as "reasonable". Young or not.

Disagree.

But then maybe they dropped him because he is still struggling with his fitness a bit, which would make sense.

Either way, players who deserve to be punished for the horrible display on Sunday (you know, the ones responsible for leading our team) are still getting a game. At least Yze is gone.

Yeah, because the rest of the team was out there demonstrating their elite fitness

Besides, give me a half-done Moloney who at least tries his guts out, over a fully fit player who stands around waiting for the action to come to them.

Unless he has pulled up sore, he should be playing. The best way to gain match fitness is to play some games.

IMO he must not be 100%, because there really is no justification for dropping him... but hey, if everyone else agrees, than surely they must all be wrong.

I cant find Rivers as listed as injured..or pending a return on any of the normal places !!

something amiss here <_<

Beamer I think has simply been ommitted.

Going to be a Dog Day afternoon !!!

The fact is he still has shown a lot more than Garland and Weetra.

Didn't think he was any better than Weetra, and Garland is not vying for the same position.

Excellent point. No doubt your post will be drowned out by all the noise though. It just about has been already.

Moloney dropped! he was the only one that tried!

We must be tanking!

Disappointed with Moloney's relegation. He was one of the few to show any fight last against the Hawks. Maybe DB's just being cautious with him after being out of footy for so long. Imagine that's the reason Rivers hasn't been selected yet (hopefully that's all).

Petterd looks like he needs a run with Sandy, and Yze must earn his spot. Both were woeful last Sunday.

Good in's, but cant wait to see Rivers name there. Nice to see Morton and Buckley retained too.

Yze did not even make the emergency's, good!

Moloney out is the worst decision ever! if he is an emergency it's either one of 2 things, 1 a dumb decision, 2 some one is not right but named and will not play.

Petterd should not have been dropped, I'd rather him play more and get more game time in the first than sandy. I think the game v the bullies he would be suited too.

Bruce and Miller survive

But Moloney is axed

LOL.. Youre kidding me?

And we still all wait for an explantion as to why probably our best BACK still doesnt make the grass !!

I'm not upset about Rivers because I'm fairly sure they are just taking their time with him.

Agree.

What explanation does it require for some?

DB has stated he will only play players when they are fully fit. Frustrating as it is.

Rivers by all accounts has been travelling fine.. he's not listed anywhere as injured.. Why would you not possibly at least name him on the pine.. and get him into the gae for 5 mins here and there.!!

Since when have injury lists been reliable. Clearly he isn't playing because he isn't fit.

Clearly he isn't playing because he isn't fit.

Well he manages to play excellent games for the Zebbies.. Hasnt been pulled up there.. ..so..enlighten me again..He's not fit ??

Moloney ran out the game fine last week, and if it was all about fitness then Bruce wouldn't be played, as he was clearly running around on one leg.

Pettard and Yze dropped are good calls. Moloney is not.

I must admit im curious re Beamer...one thing that hurst the Doggies is a direct attack at goals..they really dont have the might and fire power to shut down quick deliveries down the guts. Kinda exactly what Moloney does !!

Again Ricky not as cooked as hoped.. fair enough.. ooze.. already getting a good kick up the bum for nonchalence !!

Still all shall be revealed come Sat arvo i suspect

Ten showed the interview with Bailey.

They are adamant Moloney was dropped not injured.

I was actually surprised he didnt drop his head last week and he played better than I gave him credit. But it is all relative!

I still dont rate him as a real loss because he is easy to coach against, but my belief is that he will still play.

Im still getting used to expecting nothing from the full forward.

Dont forget we had nearly the same amount of inside 50's as hawthorn.

Yes it does depend on the quality of the input, but it is definitely the forward line, and the dearth of any silver linings that has me worried the most.

I would rather Robbo be given enough rope than have to watch someone swing in the breeze.

trying to make some sense of these decisions...

well each player has been dropped for a like replacement...

Petterd -> Bartram: will play across half back

Moloney -> Sylvia: will play in the guts

Yze -> Dunn: will play midfield/forward

i didn't think ricky played well last week, so i can understand them wanting him to get a run in the 2's... moloney i don't have a clue, why he got dropped... and yze didn't play well, but it's also a message to the playing group that no one is safe...

however I think the three ins will bring a lot to the team, looking for good games from Sylvia and Dunn...

Rivers was always going to be between Rnds 2 and 5 depending on match fitness and how pulls up. So DB wont rush him back early. Was mistake few times last week. no value putting him on the pine and playinghalf a game!

As no one other than Weetra played above expectations on Sunday any of rest could have been dropped based on their performance.

The selection that really baffles me is Holland!!! Who is he an emergency for?? No big gorilla in Dogs who need him to match up to. Cant see how Ben wud be in line for a game in 2008 unless major injuries to a few big guys & certainly not beyond this year

Posted

i know a line up on thursday is nothing to go by but i still worry about our forward line...davey needs to play forward!!!

Posted

i think it is a good call to leave rivers out for one more week... the doggies don't have many tall players down back, he's probably a team we could afford to play without him... and didn't brad miller play a good game in defence against the dogs?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
