I really can BB, especially with his last comment.

I think there are people who have had enough of the "close but not quite" attitude

its like when you know theres a storm coming.. ( well my left knee lets me know for starters..lol ) but... you can sense it without having anything material to base it on. Its all just little things in a sense ( Not that new coach is little...lol ) but a little thing here.. a different word there.. attitudes are changing and forging. And for a change its seems real..not just a lot of " f**k I hope we do alraight next year " sort of thing !! More of a deliberate and determined desire to get the ol tub turned around and up the knotts !!

Many are going to underestimate the Dees in 08... lol................... at their peril may it be !!! :D B)

Ridiculously emotive post - but I agree with every word.

he was a key component of the engine room in the '98 onwards renaissance.

Can offer a huge amount to the new regime.

Well done to the Board for making this call.

Anyone who marries a ballerina has to have something going for him too - more good off-season news. Thanks for the post.

Was that when Schwarz palmed it down to him from a boundary throw-in?

thats the one, l turned the tv over cause l couldn't stand to watch it, then when l turned it back they were interviewing Neitz, and l thought 'hang on a minute WTF happened?, couldn't believe it, it was beautiful

Gardner and Co kick another goal.

We turn over players, coaches and administrators at regular intervals in search of that elusive winning combination. It's a very harsh industry - just ask Simon Godfrey.

It's good that the Board doesn't think itself above this process and is prepared to make changes to the "list" to make themselves better at what they do.

You're right about the little things you notice - like in Petterd's article from China where he says "Brock, being Brock, began to run... so we all ended up running a kilometer along the great wall."

There's nothing like having an good impression of someone confirmed by another person you have a good impression of!

Leoncelli was probably the first Demon I learnt to really appreciate (My first serious Demon supporting year was 2000, from the start, mind you!). That timing also meant that I just had to love Bruce and Green.

500 possessions, 15 goals and 60 tackles (plus 9 Brownlow votes) is a good way to make an impression, especially when you get them doing the hard work.

Another claim to fame - the only player Bruce McAveny could name without annoying me - LeonCELLIIIII

I'll never forget when I was a young girl and we went to the MFC Family Day at Luna Park and somehow, someway, my parents managed to get Leoncelli to sit with me on the Scenic Railway.

Great move by the club to appoint such a well-liked, respectable past player.

I like the way the club is heading! Has anyone else noticed the amount of ex-melbourne players we've been hiring?

Connoly, Leoncilli and O'Donnel feel free to add anyone else

I think its part of the boards idea to creating a strong atomosphere or maybe its all just conidcedence (cant spell)

    MORE FIERCE by Meggs

We’re back!  Winning the last three matches has recaptured our Demon spirit and, with superstar players returning from rehab, our Season 2024 dreams are not over yet.   So come along 5.05 pm Saturday afternoon to watch this Round 9 ladder-defining match at the Field of Dreams. Expect the Tigers to be fierce, but surely the Demons will be more fierce. Playing conditions are expected to be a dry 15 degrees with a typically gusty Cranbourne wind. The media opprobrium of the ill-consi

    IN FRONT by Meggs

In this must-win clash between Melbourne 11th on the ladder and St Kilda 8th, it was the Demons who were in front all day to win in a hard-fought Round 8 clash to make it three in a row to keep theit slim finals chances alive. A good crowd of enthusiastic footy families for week 2 of Pride Round had gathered.  The full pews in the well-appointed RSEA Park grandstand provided excellent viewing.   The Saints won the toss and elected to kick to the southern end favoured by a strong 2-3 g

    THE TRADING CHRONICLES 02

Part 2: Watching grass grow by Whispering Jack Critics of test cricket (and I’m not one of them) will often claim the sport is excruciatingly boring: that following a five day match is much like watching grass grow. However, the longest form of that game has nothing on the first week of the AFL trade period when it comes to inducing sleep among those in the football public who follows this process in its somnolent moments. The week gone by has been no exception. Only two player trades

    THE CAVALRY ARRIVES by Meggs

The injury plague which has beset the Demons 2024 campaign is finally starting to dissipate and with consecutive wins over GWS Giants and a 2-point nail-biter in Adelade, a sense of optimism is rising.  Some commentators are now asking whether the Dees can make finals? A huge surprise with team selection this week when it was announced that champs Olivia Purcell, Paxy Paxman and Eden Zanker would play.   Hallelujah!  The cavalry has arrived. St Kilda missed the finals last season on pe

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised
