GAMEDAY: Rd 04 vs Gold Coast

Let's be honest, if Gold Coast is serious then it will win and win comfortably. Just as Sydney flexed last night, if you're a contending team then you just don't drop games like this. A pass mark for me is a good contest within 5 goals.

Agreed, especially with Fritsch now out. Who plays on King? He is a beast, Turner is too short, Petty is too Petty, Lever not big/strong enough, TMac too slow. Walter back in and Ethan Read alongside them means our defence is both undersized and too slow I feel. If our midfield doesn't stand up this could get ugly. Petracca and Humphrey out but they still have Anderson, Miller and now Rowell back in. A formidable trio.

Main thing I want to see is Kozzie continue his form, regardless of team performance he needs to build on his consistency and not just rip a game apart every 2nd or 3rd week. I think he can.

Hoping for a decent turn out but this ridiculous fixturing means we'll probably be around the 17k mark which sucks because the team deserves better after last week's effort.

I'll say it again Henderson???? Poor man's poor man!

Pal, you just don't get it! Henderson is the third emergency who will only play a half at Casey. They want the others to play full minutes at Casey

TMac to shutdown King and the football world will talk about it… about how King was off today.

If Kossie pull together another 3 vote game… most unpredictable game of the round

Agreed. Like Fremantle, they’re just a much better side than us, particularly in the middle.

I’m hopeful that we start well and maybe put them under early pressure, which they haven’t really had this year so far. But if they are 30 up at quarter time, I won’t be surprised.

When you don’t like one of our players being bagged but find the way in which it’s done really funny 🤣

The way to burst the Gold Coast bubble is with pressure, something which they have yet to have been tested with so far this season. Geelong suffered a meltdown in humid conditions in Carrara in their opening game when they were without key experienced players in Cameron and Dangerfield. Their two other wins were against West Coast and Richmond and the pressure which those teams are capable of applying was on display yesterday.

One of our main issues is our poor starts. Obviously, if we concede early goals to a team like the Suns, we’re in a bit of strife but if we hit hard from the start and apply the pressure, we are in with a chance.

our forward structure is very different without fritsch down there

as always, the midfield battle is where the game will be decided - huge test for our young group

Are GCS really that good!

Huge wins vs Cats, Eagles and Tigers. Yesterday's results say it all about the last two. Cats were missing Danger, Stengle and Cameron and the game was played in hot humid weather.

So nothing to rave about for them so far.

Their midfield this week is rather ordinary. Neutralise the injured Rowell and we will win!!! We can either have Kolt shadow him for the day or have Steele guard him at CB and Howes pick him up when he goes forward. Sure they still have Anderson and Miller but that won't be enough.

Maybe sacrifice JvR or Melk's game to lead Collins away from our targets.

Dees by a heart-stopping 7 points.

See you at the G D'lamders ❤️💙

One thing I am certain off is if we played the type of footy we did last year we would have absolutely no hope.

With our new faster (and more exciting) game plan we are a chance, albeit it a very unlikely chance. But still a chance.

Who knows. I’ll be there and watch it all unfold. GO DEES

Whoever posted the rumor about Fritta not playing needs to be barred. It turned out to be true. Unbelievable.

In the future can we stick with the proven heresay and uneducated wierd opinions please.

Well i’ve got some small hope of a win which more than i thought i would have preseason.

Let’s see how the game plan stacks up against the Suns.

They have not played a competitive match in a month so let’s catch them on the jump!

Has Andy ever barred himself before?

I've had nightmares about Trac tearing it up against us and getting 30+ disposals and kicking 3 goals. Glad that's something we won't have to deal with.

The form he was in before his injury that would have been very possible.

Looking forward to this game. Another yard stick to compare us too. Without Fritta I’m not sure how we will put a big enough score on the board.

Need a big game from Checkers and Roo to kick important goals. If we can get 4-5 between those two then we’re in with a shot.

If second half Dees from Blues or Dockers show up where a good chance. If first quarter Dees show up it won't be pretty.

We need all need to pull our weight in the midfield. No number 3 for Gold Coast, Humphrey and Rowell with no match fitness. We don't need to win the midfield battle just not give them easy clearance or unpressured chains out.

Suns coming in off 3 byes (Tigers, Eagles, actual) means we amp the pressure at the home of footy and they will struggle.

Who plays on King and will we leave Rioli and Noble unopposed to slingshot all day my biggest concerns.

We will have gained a lot of confidence from last week let's see if we can bring it early today.

Kolt needs to tag number 22.

Nathan Williamson is our biggest danger according to some on here.

he's such a dangerous contributor to every match - he's completely unpredictable as to what decision he's going to make or not make it

This is going to be a tough on but I hope we can at least be thereabouts at half time.

And Happy Easter to all Demonlanders!

I tip someone to post that Humphrey was pathetic and didn't get a possession.

Are you saying that Rowell, Anderson and Miller is an ordinary midfield?

We have the extra incentive of having Suns first pick in the draft

The more games they lose the better for us. Plus the death ride needs a booster

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.

The Demons snatched Victory form the Jaws of Defeat as they clawed their way back from 43 points down to win by 23 points in Max Gawn and Tom McDonald's 250th matches at the MCG. Never in Doubt!!!
