Kolt was so good defensively today. 8 scoring involvements to 6 and ran par on disposals and metres gained. He went head to head with “the best player in the afl” (he’s no Max) and walked away breaking even and dominated after quarter time. I hope this is the turning point for him. Trusted in the forward line, back line; and centre bounce. We don’t win without his efforts.

He had a fantastic second effort in the centre that recovered an error. Kudos to Kolt. He's a bit raw and makes a few mistakes, and could be more focused sometimes but he did well on a very tough assignment.

Career best game for Roo, absolutely love that for the young man!!

Hopefully, we will never see him in the centre ball up again!

Sharp had a very low time on ground but had a huge impact.

His best AFL traits are his goal sense, while the running power is good he just can't dispose of the ball well after those long runs.

This new role could help him be a very impactful forward.

My favourite win since the '21 GF

How refreshing it is to support a team that is completely free of overrated and overpaid [censored]-wits

GO DEES!

People here were questioning what Kolt's role going forward might be

Tagger? Looks like it after today's performance

As for Sharp? He can be a real weapon in the Ricky Jackson mould. A perfect injection of speed off the bench. The extra interchange allows that to happen

Sharp…..didn’t honestly think it was possible….absolutely instrumental in today’s win.

Max Gawn 9AA coming up

He was massive in that last quarter. Willed his way into having a hand in a few goals. Impressed

What a ripper game of footy by both teams. Stoked for the win.

So much to like. Massive team effort. Not amongst the best but shout-out to whipping boys Petty and also Kolt for keeping Nas pretty quiet for a superstar.

Feeling relief to finally get home in a close one. The whole club needed that win…it puts to bed a painful a few years and is a the rebirth point.

loved kingies emotion in the box too. This year will have more than its share of ups and downs but we may well be in the 6-10 bracket.

A game that could be the making of Sharp

A couple more like that and I will have to stop calling him Blunt.

Positives:

Four ladder points.
Clear game plan based on dynamic and attacking football.
Van Rooyen's new-found confidence.
Max as mighty as ever.
Newcomers Miochek, Jiang and Steele all added value.
A statement game by Culley.
Windsor starting to fulfill his potential.

  1. Concerns:
    Defence in disarray at times.
Looked very vulnerable to counter-attacks straight through the corridor.
    Overall:
    Much to be pleased about.

I wasn't a fan at first, but Kolt was a decent choice to curb NWM. Nasiah only had 18 touches, most of which came from his disposal chains from half back.

A tagging role could be good for his development. No better way to learn your craft than to play on the best.

Or a coach that hobbled the creativity of his players.

awesome to knock-off our bogey team first round!!

King-ball beats Ross's Moneyball!!

Moneyballers you don't pay 2 players a Fortune that are hacks

As I watched I understood what had been missing.

Full team commitment, and then Max summed it up. He was stuffed.

Demon fans aren't the only ones impressed by what King has achieved in his short time at the club.

The Government has already decreed a Public Holiday for his birthday in June.

Fritsch had some moments he'd like to have back (that play on and wild snap in the last was terrible), but still had 8 score involvements.

Didn't mind the role he played today.

And the goal to seal it.

Great atmosphere at the game. The trident members area was rocking.

Hats off to Sharp. I thought some of his gut running against the Tigers was excellent and he's brought it today in the last. A bit of a cheeky strategy from King resting him on the bench to then unleash in the last qtr.

Ross the mastermind had a mare leaving Nas on the bench for so long in the last qtr.

How good is FUN footy! One of the more enjoyable games for some time. Mark of the decade and a couple of magic goals.

Keep it going and there will be 60k each week. Awesome win ❤️💙

Has anyone kicked a better first goal than Latrelle Pickett?

No. I hope he repeats it numerous times this year. It was good as it gets.

I don’t care what anyone says, when sweet Caroline came on after a goal every single Dees fan was up and about!!! I like it! Was very low at first so it was pointless but they eventually turned it up and got us going!

Well done dees! I haven't felt this pumped about a win in a very long time. We played such a fast, attacking and daring style of footy and I'm so glad it paid off in the end. It's been ages since we've looked so dangerous when getting the ball into our forwardline. Our defence was leaky but I thought it lifted big time in the last quarter.

JVR can take a bow. He looked a completely different player today. Gawn's last quarter was so inspirational. He taught De Koning a massive lesson. I'm already highly impressed by Jiath, Steele and Miocheck as our new recruits. They all played their roles very well.

I think we're in for a really exciting ride this season regardless of where we finish.

I didn't think we would win that but I was wrong. Great game Dees. Funny we lose and this thread would be 20 pages, win and it is 4.
