Let's not "gift games" to anyone. On the other hand give him [BL16] games, but only if he deserves it.

I donโ€™t think he would be getting gifted games considering heโ€™s always one of the best in the vfl

Seriously, who are we going to put on NAS?

Langdon got the job done against Daicos and would seem the only viable choice

I don't. Aside from 2 goals he has been disappointing both weeks. Culley they will want in the side asap and he has been able to run and participate in drills without contact. Toss up between Laurie and Kolt for last spot and if Culley not there Kolt plays.

I'm still holding my Kolt shares - for now.

Hes got to get super fit and strong, the latter because he's a power player.

And he really needto lock into a position. I'm not convinced he'll make ir as a defender, and atm he's not likely to play mid.

Meaning hia bedt shot is a half forward who gets up and down the ground, gets one or two goals a game an kick the sort of goal he did on Friday - be a spor up option neat the arc and convert from 50.

Wherever he plays

I have always noticed that when two corridor teams play each other scores are often low due to turnovers and crowding of the corridor.

Under Goodwin we remained a boundary team. It will be interesting to see if under the new coach we become a diagonal team a la Collingwood or a corridor team such as Adelaide.

Diagonal.

There seems to be a bit of a naritive that this is St Kilda's game to loose.

I don't buy it.

We were like what 40 points up at 3/4 time in our last outing against them, with a team that wasn't playing as cohesively as we look to be at the moment. If we get in that position against them again, they aren't coming back from it.

Give wonderboy Chandler the gig! Why not??

Sharp has the tank and speed to go with Nas all day, but not the IQ. He'll get caught out. Sparrow similar minus the pace.

It probably decides the game ...I do not expect Koz to be able to get away from Windhager.

I agree with the poster who suggested we be the first to go after Nas physically. Would love it if we got totally unsociable on him!!! Windhager does it to Kozzie....

Jiath? Can he be physical?

CJ doesn't strike me as a strong defensive 1-on-1 type. I would love to be proven wrong though!

NAS is more roaming so seems a task less about defensive positioning and more about blanketing. Someone mentioned Langdon, I think for that reason. But I feel like CJ could add the physical edge.

Congrats to May on a fantastic career.

I thought Langdon played on Wanganeen-Milera last time and got a bath.

I don't think anyone played well enough in the VFL to be considered.

I think Culley has to play at least 1 VFL game before being considered.

I think Steele would know Wanganeen-Milera's game inside out. I'd consider him to do the job on Wanganeen-Milera in the middle and Turner to go on him when he goes forward.

The only change I would make to my side is Sharp to emergency and Melksham out.

Is Chandler Pickett's new Spargo?

B: Lever, Petty, Salem

HB: Jiath, Turner, Lindsay

C: Langford, Steele, Langdon

HF: Chandler, van Rooyen, K.Pickett

F: Fritsch, Miocek, L.Pickett

FOLL: Gawn, Rivers, Windsor

IC: Sparrow, Howes, Tholstrup, Laurie, McDonald

EMERG: Culley, Heath, Sharp

They're a year older and wiser plus they've brought in some very good and experienced players. Meanwhile, out of our side from last year we'll be without 6 first-choicers: Bowey, Viney, McVee, Petracca, Oliver and May.

If we're any points up at 3/4 time we'll be doing well.

So theyโ€™re a year older and wiser but weโ€™re not?

Theyโ€™ve brought in good and experienced players but Steele, Mihocek and Jiath arenโ€™t relevant?

And our change in coach/approach doesnโ€™t factor either?

Jiath was cleared by the poohs and wees for exactly that reason. His game in Ballarat was terrible; repeated dropped marks, errant disposal by hand and foot and running into trouble. He has Casey written all over him and if injuries mean he gets games, we are in trouble.

I think you're right. That gamestyle does require great kicking skills but it also reduces the number of turnovers that you see in corridor play.

Wow! Just a bit over the top donโ€™t you think???

CJ is strong, fast, brave and versatile .

Yes he may have butchered 2-3 disposals but he adds greatly to the team with all his other traits

Melbourne Football Club members will gain exclusive access to special deals and perks with The Pass as The Duke of Wellington is recrowned the 'home pub of the Demons' for the next two seasons.

The Duke โ€“ located on the corner of Russell and Flinders Streets in Melbourne's CBD and just a short walk to the MCG โ€“ has a proud history with the club, having previously been a beloved gathering place for the red and blue army. The partnership sees The Pass become the clubโ€™s Official Venue Partner, giving fans even more ways to connect and celebrate the game they love.

Through The Pass app, Demons members will receive 15% off at The Duke and 10% off more than 200 other โ€˜The Passโ€™ venues around the country over the next two seasons. To celebrate the homecoming, The Duke will also offer Melbourne members a โ€˜$20 pub classic mealโ€™ prior to the Demons kicking off their season against the St Kilda at the MCG on Sunday 15 March.

Melbourne Football Club CEO Paul Guerra said the partnership represented a further opportunity to generate benefit for members.

"To partner with a company that operates some of the best pubs and event spaces in the country is another positive step for the club, whilst also creating a range of socialising options for our members," Guerra said. "I'm looking forward to seeing a stream of red and blue filtering into the 'G from The Duke every match day."

The Pass Chief Experience Officer Marianne Mewett said the partnership would create a true home away from home for Demons supporters.

"We're thrilled to welcome the Demons family back to The Duke and give them access to The Pass, our loyalty app that unlocks benefits across our entire venue network," Mewett said. "This partnership is about creating spaces where the Melbourne community can connect, celebrate, and share their passion for the red and blue."

To unlock your perks, download The Pass app and link your Melbourne Football Club membership to start discovering the best places to eat, drink and celebrate near you.

We are โ€˜in troubleโ€™โ€ฆ

What do some of think is going to happen this year?

CJ is almost identical to our Sam Frost. Capable player who is on the fringes of good and skilful teams due to his errant run and dash, and is desired for bad and stagnant teams for his errant run and dashโ€ฆ

I am glad to watch him try to get us going this year.

My bet is that we will start well this year then get flogged by a couple teams and become inert, and I wager CJ will be one of the few who try to play footy and get us going.

Good to see you have Petty as an emergency. Hope he gets little to no senior games this year... Wish we'd traded him to Adelaide when he had good currency...

Think we would be much better playing JVR as second ruck than Heath. The new rules are anti-second ruckman (and we shouldnt play a second ruck with Gawn anyway).

Think Steel, Langford, Fritsch and Culley (if he plays) give us another forward marking threat. I also want to see Melksham in the side when he is AFL match fit. The side looks ok on paper but we could do with more pace. Bowey is a loss.

Can we leave JVR to focus on being a forward. He's been under the pump for a while and hadn't been developing enough. This pre-season he hasn't been doing as much ruck craft and frankly is looking more like a dangerous forward than ever...

Who played on NWM before they were subbed out last round? They did the job from memory, before subs were done and then he was off to the races

Windsor played on him last year.

He was doing such a great job. I still remember thinking why on earth would we take him off! Then moments later NAS went absolutely nuts. We lost the moment Windsor got subbed.

I'm not sure it is that doom and gloom. I wasn't impressed with his defensive efforts on Maurice Rioli Jr, but it was a small sample size. CJ also hasn't had much time to gel with the team yet.

Fingers crossed we can make use of his assets, being speed on the rebound!
