Unless you’re Steven May or a prominent figure in the club, it’s conjecture. All will be known tomorrow.

As iterated 99.9% conjecturelÿ correct

Ok PF, let’s wait until tomorrow. Besides, anything less than 100% correct is still incorrect until such time as it is the full 100% correct.

It would be nice if they told us something 🙄

Probs not on a Sunday. But surely we will be told something tomorrow.

I've also heard that May will announce his retirement from the game tomorrow.

It’s obvious we are all hoping that the news regarding Luker is good, but if it works out that he is out for the majority/ rest of the season, are we able to fill his spot on the list? Who is available? If May retires, we are down 2 key position players, who could we possibly pick up? Just curious to know who might be able to fill spots.

Paddy Cross has been unofficially training with the club every Friday and involved in all intraclub type games where numbers are needed.

I understand he’s not a key forward but he may be the one.

Ah Mu a good development option. Jacob Blight is ready-made but more of a back.

Agreed.

The best fullback I've seen at Melbourne. In fact, the best key defender I've seen at Melbourne.

I’m guessing because the SSP period ends Monday, so if he is out for the season we could sign a player

I have fingers crossed for Luker so Batmania can become Melbourne again.

  • One for the history buffs 😉

hahah - BatMania - it could be a thing like the Hypocrites do with the Wiz Hats (I can't stand the Hypocrites but I do like Wiz Hats)

Totally agree Gator Steven May was the Captain of the Men’s Department so fondly referred to by Gussie when we were at our absolute peak.

Won’t be an ACL..looked more Medial if anything with some luck it’s not even that but I’m ngl I’m dying to know..hopefully May is cut and that’s our chance for Ah-Mu.

My guess is that it’s a minor one if anything but I’m an optimist

I think the cut off is tomorrow?

I reckon we’d wait for the mid season now if we had a spot

Sorry, but as terrible as this is for poor Luker, the comments here are just so typical of why the MFCSS acronym was ‘coined’. Sure he kicked 24 in 17 VFL matches last season, but it’s no guarantee he will have continued success at AFL level. I want him to succeed, and I also want Jeffo to succeed, but the fact that they are unavailable for the start of the season, is not the end of the world as the tone of some of the comments might suggest - I mean to say, we don’t even know the results of the scans yet, so how about we shelve the doom and gloom stuff at least until we learn what damage has been done (then we can panic!!! j/k).

In the meantime we have Mihocek and Melksham who we know are proven goal scorers, and as was shown in Friday’s ‘game’, we are now looking for leading forwards as opposed to just bombing it long and hoping. If we can stick to King’s game plan, I see plenty of reason to be optimistic.

The difference is he was showing good form and then played well against North. He showed more in a 3-4 practise games than Jefferson has shown in 3 years.

Agree this century, but you must be too young to remember Tassie Johnson 8.

Danny Hughes went all right too but it's Maysie for me.

Gary Hardeman is in the conversation too i reckon.

Probably the toughest too, always went back on the ball with no regard for his body. Got smashed so many times and always got up. Not to mention how many people he ran through. Will miss his gameplay and guts.

My favourite 'bin'...if he was in one of the good teams would have been legend status.

Tassie..from what I remember old Rocker,Premiership FB more than once respected by peers, tough, fearless, mean and D kick miles.

Pretty hard to beat.

But I liked Biffin more.

I was discussing this with my Brother yesterday.

Tassie was his favourite player. He had a massive poster (or it seemed massive when I was a kid) of Tassie on his bedroom wall.

He agreed that May was better and the best fullback he's seen at Melbourne.

Naturally, you're welcome to your view.

And he's better than Hardeman, who was also very good.

Sadly, I suspect for many this will be forgotten behind news of this retirement and some of the stories of the last few years.

To be clear, a lot of what May has done off field has been questionable at best.

But at his peak, he was an elite full back and a key reason why we were any good at all from 2021-23.

Um they only played 2 before this and jeffo starred in the first intraclub and Luther starred vs norf!

Retirement/dismissal/mutual agreement, regardless of what happens retirement is what will be announced.
