Surely they send Viney for surgery ASAP to get this sorted for the longer term. Donโ€™t turn it into another Spargo saga.

achilles are best solved when snapped, snap it you have surgery and a definitive timeline, just inflamation and pain and tenderness, there is no surgery for that viney is in that boat and an achkilles at 31 that could spell the end for some

Across a lot of clubs there seems to be a lot of injuries.

Culley I'm disappointed to hear about. I was ready to see him up & about for r1

In a similar vein to Bowzer's rise last season, i was hoping Culley would emulate that success this year.

Absolutely tragic if its a serious injury but fingers crossed its minor.

Hopefully heโ€™s in surgery by Monday at the latest and then has a quick recovery.

They mentioned a couple weeks, my guess would be closer to four to six.

Hopefully itโ€™s a break but just a hairline so itโ€™s quicker.

Just reported on CH9 news, โ€œViney's Achilles injury could keep him out for the whole season โ€œ

Melk and Max last season make my point - which when a player has to rehab during the preseason alot depends on the nature of the injury in terms of how much of an impact the injury had.

IIRC both Max and Melk were able to keep running and cycling- ie weren't off legs. So coukd maintain their aerobic conditioning.

Whereas kolt and mcvee I think had injuries that impacted their ability to run. And never got close to optimal fitness ...

There are too many other variables and you don't know what training Kolt and McVee were doing away from the group/inside/in the gym etc. About the only conclusion you might be able to reach on the limited data we have is that older players with more pre-seasons under their belt are less impacted by missing pre-seasons than younger players, who need pre-season to build long-term fitness.

Not a terrible result, may only miss a game or two even if the timeline drags on

I believe the above also could be added to the list and there are probably more.

That is horrendous in a Pre Season and now May not fully fit and with some issues could be another not available.

MFC text saying Culley will have surgery tomorrow and have quoted four week recovery time as expecting he will be able to maintain his current fitness levels.๐Ÿ˜

If Viney is going to miss the best part of a year with an Achilles- I wonder if he retire? Seems a guy who is pretty honest with himself.

Tbh thatโ€™s pretty great as for injury outcomes.

Also pretty amazing how far technology and medicine has come.

Young Demon Jai Culley will undergo surgery on Saturday, following an arm fracture during training at Casey Fields on Friday.

General Manager of AFL Football Performance Alan Richardson said the club would take a cautious approach to Culleyโ€™s recovery.

โ€œThis was a really unfortunate incident, which took place during our training session on Friday,โ€ Richardson said.

โ€œScans have confirmed that this was an arm fracture and Jai will have surgery tomorrow to start recovery as soon as possible.

โ€œWe are optimistic that he will be able to maintain his fitness while he is in rehab program.

โ€œWe will have a clearer picture of his return to play timeline post-surgery, however, we expect this to be approximately four weeks.โ€
