I don’t know if it’s been mentioned but there’s a really good interview with CJ on the channel 7 series ‘Unfiltered’ where he talks about his family leaving Sudan and the challenges they faced.

It’s a great story.

Rapt with this signing. our team suddenly has a lot of leg speed with CJ, Windsor, Langford, Chandler, Kozzie and others.

On a scale of Harry Sharp to peak Steve May, you’d probably have this at a 6 in terms of opposition recruits.

Solid pick up if he can remain injury free and can bring some speed to the team.

Welcome, CJ!

While many have noted some areas for development (decision-making/disposals) (and I agree), he is not alone there! I think the whole team should be working very hard on their skills and decision-making in the offseason.

That said, what CJ does have is speed, dare, x-factor and will make a lot of fans quickly. The rest can be improved in time.

We can build with guys like CJ.

For those who haven't seen him play properly:
CJ Vs Carlton

He's not perfect, but when fit he's a pretty good intercept and dashing defender. Could play HBF or wing for us. If played across half back, it would free up Rivers or Salem or others to shift into the midfield more. He's best 23 ahead of Sharp and Sparrow and a few others IMO.

Good trade for a late pick in a weak draft. Ready to go.

Oooos, I forgot about Majak!

Happy with the signing but I don't understand why we always give away future picks in these deals. Not huge in the scheme of things but we are now down a future 3rd and 4th pick next year.

It was a good watch. Very interesting

Every single time we give up more than we should - it's absolutely ridiculous.

If Tim Lamb was a real estate agent he'd sell the house and chuck in the furniture, the dog and a slab of beer on top.

Wikipedia already updated!

Who does this?! 👻 👏

Big day for the MFC coterie, CJ will be the first South Sudo bloke they’ve ever met 😂

I think @deegirl's comment still stands. Majak was at the club during COVID, so probably no real chance for the coterie to meet him. He was only with us for a microsecond as well.

A lot better than the 1st we're down this year, though? (with a multiplier on it being Essendon 😄)

You could claim complexity, dg: MD was born in Sudan (Khartoum) as distinct from South Sudan, while CJ's South Sudanese parents had him in Mekelle, Ethiopia (thanks Wikipedia).

What a world lies beyond the seas...

Did we really have to give up 2 picks for him? Seems weird.

Hawks will toss them at the Dons... to further salt their wound.

He is actually Ethiopian. 👍

Welcome CJ

According to everyone on Demonland basically all players are hack kicks so pfft.

I'm looking forward to watching this guy play with a bunch of athletisim, enthusiasm and excitement.

If we're going for speed, athleticism and totally unpredictable disposal out of the back line, let's go the whole hog.

Bring back Frosty!!

Seriously, I'm looking forward to CJ in the red and blue. He's exciting. What's lacking can be taught.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
