You might want to listen again mate, he is asked (with reference to Collingwood) โ€œwhat do you like about them?โ€

He replies, โ€œwhat do I like about them? Ahhhhh, I like them better than Melbourne. Thatโ€™s for sure.โ€

BLWNBA - thanks for that, but if you go back 24 posts before your post you'll see I'd admitted my error and apologized - and I have been forgiven by the posters i called out on. So all good my friend.

Thatโ€™s my bad mate, Iโ€™ve missed that. Apologies from my end!

I am so sad.

One of our most decorated players of all time. Was well on the way to being one of our greatest ever. Set to be traded for a second round pick. AND we'll be paying him to play elsewhere.

You'll never convince me that we aren't the most self-destructive club in the league.

Contracted player. time to dig in. we want one of Sam Taylor or Finn Callaghan and 2 first round picks or he's coming back to the Demons.

Sigh..we're going to end up with a future third rounder aren't we?

I know many here wonโ€™t agree but Iโ€™m very broken hearted about this one

Clarry holds a special place in my heart and I am incredibly sad that he wonโ€™t finish his career in red and blue

He isnโ€™t perfect, in fact heโ€™s a mess, but heโ€™s our mess and I will always support him

I hope he is happy and healthy

Shock, horror... oh myyyyy gaawwwwdd

Where did that come from ?? ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿฅด

Very sad

I think that while most of us can understand why this is happening, it doesnโ€™t make it any easier

Genuinely hope Clarry goes well at both GWS and in his personal life

Now get as much of his contract off the books as possible Dees

Yet thereโ€™s only 2 players who self destructed their careers and Iโ€™m not sure the club had any role in it.

Itโ€™s disappointing for sure, but I think a lot of people at the club will be relieved itโ€™s over (besides the wage bill).

Loved him as a player, was unbelievable for us and dragged us over the line on so many occasions.

However, he and Trac were not only poor leaders, but were counterproductive to our development of younger players.

I am now a firm believer, strong system will beat superstar players on a disconnected team. We have a nucleus, but just need to build the system- which Iโ€™m confident that King can do.

We were never going to get the best out of Clarry or Trac again, comparing them to 2021 version is not fair. They might blossom at another club, but so be it.

Mark this trade period down as a positive for the clubs next 4 years. We will free up valuable $s and hopefully add some key pieces.

I love this clubโ€ฆ this club! The members, fans and anyone wearing our jumper. Players who leave to me, regardless of status are always part of the story, but ultimately ex-players.

A fair result - we pay 3 million: 1M, 1M, 333 x 3. GWS pay the rest.

We get a pick in the 30โ€™s or one of the GWS small forwards of equivalent value.

You obviously donโ€™t listen to Max on his weekly radio spot. He constantly talks about our poor performance and how weโ€™re not where we should be. He often talks about how good other teams are and his favourite players ( often not Melbourne players). He also often jokes about Entrecote! How is that not interpreted as โ€˜disloyaltyโ€™ or โ€˜putting down the clubโ€™ in the same way?

Big difference between saying we need to get better and bagging your own team. The way Oliver said it is the latter. If Oliver simply said how great it would be to play with whoever from gws or how he likes the vibe up there or whatever positive thing he could say about gws it would be fine, instead he essentially said as long as they arenโ€™t Melbourne thatโ€™s what matters.

Clarry was a great player, though his best was from a couple of years ago as with Trac.

Will he get back to his best? Well he has a better shot at it at the Giants than if he were to remain at the Dees.

With a new coach coming in and clearly setting new standards and expectations, Oliver clearly wasnโ€™t willing to commit to those.

No one individual is bigger than the club. And the way he has handled himself this past week, he has shown to be terribly immature and one who would pose problems when trying to establish a better culture and healthier environment.

Sad that it got to this situation, with all parties at fault in some sort of way.

Fits with my own view that Clarrie was told in no uncertain terms he has to get fitter and run both ways; he may not get midfield time; and, he has to pull his finger out otherwise he'll be playing in a Casey jumper.

Wow there mustโ€™ve been a lot of people in that boardroom with everyone saying what was said

ย

Sad to lose a Dees legend but if we can somehow turn this into a Leek Aleer that could be the best out of a bad situation. I know we have some great tall defender stocks in Disco, Petty and Lever. However, like others have mentioned, Adams is not yet a proven AFL footballer, Lever has recently been injury prone and its likely is Tmac last year and definitely is May's.

Adams may well be our man but I don't see how added competition for spots can ever be a bad thing.

In saying that, it is more likely we receive a pick back depending on how much of Clarry's contract we are willing to pay.

Well now heโ€™s committed to GWS itโ€™s incumbent on them to get a deal. Weโ€™re not totally without power here.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
