Imploding

Jackson, Jordan, Harmes, Neale-Bullen, Oliver, May, Pertacca, Spargo - that's 38% of the 21 Premiership team that will end up playing GOOD football at other clubs. It hardly screams great club culture does it?

NONE OF GEELONG'S 2022 PREMIERSHIP PLAYERS HAVE PLAYED FOR OTHER CLUBS!!!!'

You do realise Geelongs 2025 GF team was ~40% changed from 2022?

Change or die a slow death

We’re doomed I tell ye. Doomed

Harmes, Jordon and Spargo weren’t even best 22

Not imploding, just a much needed reset.

calm down united kingdom GIF

I think we've been imploding since 2021 and it's quite jarring to see some strong leaders steadying the ship, it's making everyone feel a bit uncomfortable but i think if we take the emotion out of it, this young group coming through is where we need to focus, and move on from 2021 and the Goodwin era.

We have to do this reset before the Tasmanian devils come into the league. Otherwise we are going to be screwed like we were when gws and Gold Coast did. Also, how many of those players genuinely will be part of our next premiership tilt? I genuinely believe people don't want our legends to move on, but I think the culture they have created is the reason we have been subpar since the Grand final.

Think you might be right. Maybe Goodwin found it a bit hard to go the tough love to some who went over the mountain with/ for him.

Our performance and hard edge has been off for two years.

Yeah, but how important can they really be if you can't even spell three of them?

Jones? Hunt? Melksham? (technically, JJ was 23)

I'm plodding.

And its costs us big time..

Let's all just take a deep breath and wait to see how things look after the trade period and drafts have been completed.

I curse my old man for pushing this club on me, up the dog park and a mate goes just change, it’s a ludicrous statement, you’re born to support a club and stick with them. This club has been the hardest to stick with, this is Neeld all over again, first time coach comes in and thinks that being uncompromising is the way to do it, he’s gonna fail and he’s gonna fail big time.

I’ll never forget King kicking Jeff White in the head, it was right in front of me, well he’s doing it again, kicking the whole club in the head, Steven King is going to fail and fail badly, he’s a bad choice, we should have given it to Buckley, but NO, the club wants an answer right now, can’t wait another frickin’ day, I’m too old to go through this [censored] again🙄

In 2 years' time, we may well find that King is a Neeld Mk. 2, but I can't see that eventuating. We are a far better-run club with significantly more talent on our list than we were when Neeld was appointed, and King is a far better-credentialled and more experienced player and assistant coach than Neeld was.

Jackson and maybe Trac will play good footy elsewhere.

Even Dogga has yet to reach the heights we all expect him to and with the role he is being asked to play I’m not sure he gets there.

Trac has a huge question mark over his courage and brutality and we know how he is with kicking and accuracy. This is unlikely to improve.

All the others you mentioned are nowhere near their ‘21 form and will never get back to it.

  • GAMEDAY: Richmond

It's Game Day on Friday night. ANZAC Eve. The big stage at the ‘G. The Demons return to the spotlight for one of our most significant nights on the football calendar, taking on the Tigers in a clash that always carries extra weight given the gravity of occasion of the commemoration of the ANZAC Spirit. Under the lights, in front of a packed house, this is where moments are made. Can the Dees rise to the occasion and deliver on the big stage, or will Richmond spoil the night? All the build-up, discussion, and in-game reactions here. Go Dees.

Round 7 is here, with the ANZAC commemoration games taking centre stage. Who are you tipping this week, and which results would be most favourable for the Demons?

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

Before Sunday, the last time the Brisbane Lions had walked onto the turf of the Melbourne Cricket Ground, they celebrated the pinnacle of the sport - an AFL premiership secured in emphatic fashion for the second consecutive year.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

From the outset, the Casey Demons lacked any spring in their steps. They were out-hustled and out-bustled and finally outplayed by the Brisbane Lions by 38 points on their home turf in perfect conditions at Casey Fields.
