I think this is a good outcome for both player & club. He played an important role in 2021, but hasn't been great since. A fresh start might get him back on track.

On his day he was a good cog player, sadly injuries have cruelled him. Long live Spargoat.
North a bit of interesting for mine though, i know they need experience but not sure about this one for them

A bit of nostalgia playing where his father played.

All the best Charlie.

Never quite liked him in the number 9, always felt he was too small for it after Neita.

Second would be fab. I doubt it would be that high, but they're talking top of the first round for Draper, so anything is possible.

we'll probably get the end of 2nd round (pick 37 before any other compo, father sons or academy picks), but if we're really lucky and norf decide to offer him like 520k we could get the raw pick 23 which would be insane

The most overrated player by Demonlanders. A small forward who didn't kick goals and averaged 11 possessions. Also isn't an elite pressure player. His supposed elite disposal was a Demonland myth.

Spargo's best season was actually his 1st in 2018.

Couldn't care less that he played in the premiership team. Glad to see him gone.

Cal Twomey has stated that we will get a late pick. North have offered him 3 years on probably low dollars.

That would be amazing.

Isn't $520,000 pretty unspectacular remuneration for a senior player these days?

bit of a guess, he needs to be offered a higher salary than 52% of listed players over 25 for us to get the pick after our 2nd i think

Good luck at Roo’s Charlie Spargo vital cog in2021 Flag but haven’t had a really decent run at it since, Achilles cruelled ‘24, he was playing a vg game for us against Swannies when he damaged his shoulder then popped it again at Casey. Hope you have better luck at North Spargypants but not against us.

all depends what they offer him, his age actually increases his compo by quite a lot. jordon got us an end of 2nd round and he was more of a fringe player for us than spargs

Players come and go. I support the club.

And what I've said is mild compared to some of [censored] written about Petracca, Oliver and May.

And then there were * Number of remaining premiership players *

Played his role to perfection in the flag year as part of the triple pronged pressure fleet.

The injury at the start of last year probably sealed his fate and then Sharp coming in probably sealed it further despite not doing much.

Think this is for the best as North could use some HFF types, he does have the kicking going for him and I hope he does well.

Wonder if Langford now takes the number 9 now

I think they’ll offer #9 to Jai.

Good luck Charlie. As others have said you will always be remembered at the MFC as a key member of our 2021 Premiership side

Very few players who reach 100 games and play in a Premiership

Why?

What is wrong with 19?

“Promoting” player numbers is so overrated. I will never forget when Liam Jurrah was “promoted” from 48 to 24 and he wasn’t even half the player he was before.

For that 2-3 year period where BBB was at full forward, with Fritsch and Spargo also in the forward line, our footy was great to watch. Spargs probably only averaged 15 touches per game but his thinking and delivery into F50 was so trustworthy. Kicking distance was always his struggle, but I loves him in our flag year.

Great servant, thanks for helping to bring us the exhilaration of the 21 Flag. Go well, but not too well when you play the Dees.

Obviously a disgruntled view from an ex Ovens and Murray sixths stalwart...

What a class act you are, huh.

Yeah everyone’s entitled to their opinion blah blah [censored] blah, but how about exercising common decency. You’re within your rights to post this, but there’s a thing called sensitivity ffs. Would it kill you to refrain from expressing your opinion on this occasion?

Four wrongs don’t make a right.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
