No surprises and thank you all for your services and driving strong standards at Casey.

Interesting no Billings and Woey. Must be a wait for after trade period.

Are people being serious proposing Spargo should be delisted?

He played 49 games in 2021 and 2022 and has since been cruelled by injury and poor form. Still only 25yo.

At the very least we should trade him, just dumb to delist him and get no value back.

this hasnt actually come out anywhere from the club yet

Yes it has.

Kynan looked alright when he was given the opportunity and showed defensive pressure and mongrel. That's a disappointing delisting for me.

Unfortunately his disposal efficiency doesn’t appear to have improved according to our Casey followers and it has become the No.1 trait that teams are searching for.🥲😢

I would expect we are giving Billings time to retire.

He may be waiting to see if any takers out there, maybe Tigers or WC would give him a go?

Club development, training base, new President, new CEO, new coach ....

But the pure basis of it all is a group of young men who work and grunt and strive with everything they have to play the best sport in the world. As much as I agree with all these decisions, I am reminded that these blokes are going from approx $300,000 per year to daily employment, training Tuesdays & Thursdays, a HUGE drop in salary and then to VFL, suburban or country footy. Sobering.

I wish them all the best.

It's a tough gig

Assuming you play one AFL game 60% of players get to twenty games but only 30% to 50 games. 100 games is only achieved by 17% and 200 by 4%.

Feel sorry for Kynan. Came on as sub and lays a game saving tackle only to never be seen again. You lived the dream of many on here playing an AFL game for the team you support. Best of luck in the future to you and the others delisted.

Being in WA I didnt see anything of him. But like his old man. seemed to all in with effort which I liked on what I saw of him briefly. Whether you had potential? But Goodwin was set on who he wanted in first, so few had a chance to show their wares like brown.

It's a hard moment, especially when the delistings include F-S players who we've had an emotional investment in since before they were drafted, or someone like Sestan who has a clear point of value but hasn't been able to build an overall AFL standard.

But... on the delistings announced so far, we've lost entirely nothing from our AFL-grade playing strength in 2025 and really only a speculative 'optimistic' chance to our 2026 strength.

My sometimes very wise but also Carlton-supporting brother described their persistent malaise as been rooted in an excess of hope. 'We hope this player will come good, we hope McKay will kick straight, we hope Weitering can solo-defeat the entire opposition tall forward line.'

Each of these players we can only say we might 'hope' they will reach AFL standard.

Do the delisted players get to go to the b&f?

Yes

I don’t think any would decline the b&f with bad blood, and also wouldn’t be surprised to see some do medicals or train on with another club given their ages, hoping to impress enough to fill a final list spot. Despite not making the cut at the highest level, I’d expect all these guys to still command a good wage at local/country level and to tear it up. Go well, former dees 🫡

Good luck to all of these guys. It seems like most of their cards were marked early this year.

Possibly some investment should be made in a development coach?? Not sure if there was a lot of that going on.

I find it totally astounding, that list decisions are being made without the appiontment of the new coach, anyone else think the same??

Not with these level players I don’t.

I wonder what that means for Verrall?

Didn’t have to wait too long for that!

Still think it was short sighted to play TC or AJ in the ruck – they are not getting any younger/taller/faster.

It was pretty obvious that a few were marked early on. Club needs to work on development.

that was choco's job

Unfortunately, choco's job turned into a whole club affair – there was no time left for the younger players.

A bit disappointed to see Sestan gone, but the other four are no real surprise, sadly.

Gotta feel for someone these lads. Real shame to have never really seen what Sestan could do.

Wish him and all the lads leaving the very best in their journeys.

spot on. I’d have added them both in, and mcadam.

Billings has been delisted just announced by Richardson

You’d think they could have added his name to the announcement they sent out earlier

A bunch of monkeys would do a better job than our comms team

Disgraceful

I am not watching are you able to give some idea how Richo delivered this news? Was he thanking all the players that have just been delisted?

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
