Why have one whirving dervish when you can have ....TWO.

Going to be fascinating to see if this 'left field " selection is actually... 'inspired'

Fun times ahead...

Very interesting pick, good family history with the footy though I mean I can't wait to see both Pickets playing together I think that will be special.

JT isn't using a high first round pick just to make kozzy happy.

We clearly rate this guy on his own merits as someone who will be a great player for our club.

I remember there were demonlanders who rated cody weightman over Kozzy back in 2019.

Can't wait to see some x2 Pickett magic next year.

I have nfi if this is good use of P12 or not.

My only thought at this stage is (IMO) LP has better chance at integrating/oerforming in a 'King gameplan' (attacking) than a 'Goodwin gameplan' (possession terriitory over-defensive tripe).

What's his relationship to kozzie?

Cuzzy Pickett

an unexpected pick 12, on memory so was Jackson and Koz a few years ago. JT see's what we need in this kid and he's got Koz to learn from and play with. Makes us much more dynamic when he get on the park with the top side this year/. (I expect he'll get good game time at least early in the season)

Dunno some are saying he only played 2nd division ressies, will he get games this year?

“We really should have taken a midfielder we didn’t rate!!”

How many mids do we have to bloody take? Windsor, Lindsay, Langford, even some say Tholstrup is better as a mid.

??

Not sure I’d be brave enough to bet against a Pickett becoming a good player.

Welcome to the Dees LSP!

May well play early in the season. Has good endurance and did a good 2km.

Promising rookie me profile. Will allow Kosi to play more mid and be extra dangerous when he (Kosi) drifts forward. Speed and X Factor - i like it.

Latrelle Pickett Draft Profile - Aussie Rules Rookie Me Central (formerly AFL Draft Central)

STRENGTHS:

+ Scoreboard impact
+ Speed
+ Vertical leap
+ X-factor

IMPROVEMENTS:

- Defensive work rate
- Exposure

The Cuz and Koz show! Could it revive memories of Jimmy and Phil Krakouer? Now that was a show.

Add Steele, Viney, Rivers and Kozzie too.

We aren’t short of mids, we’re short of a cohesive midfield that has played many games together, to which, the only way to get that cohesion is for them to play together.

Highlights are SANFL (Glenelg) 'twos' level, I believe. I'm looking forward to the recruiting team's observations on his readiness for and path into our AFL 'ones'. Might be a short-term element of 'project'?

But exciting in the bigger picture!

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
