Thanks for your part in 2021 Choco

By the way, an interesting tidbit at the end of this clip from Kane here regarding Buckley sounding out a former MFC coach/employee - does anyone know who Cleary was referring to?

Neeld and Buckley overlapped at the Pies, didn't they?

And the next one falls. Fair enough, although his energy and passion was an important cog in our premiership. Thanks, Choco.

Nothing but LOVE for Mark Williams thanks so much for helping us achieve what most of us thought was impossible.. Cheers again and hope you find something else fulfilling, you deserve it.

I think Jared rivers was an assistant under bucks?

Rivers and Bruce haven’t been at the club for years. It sounds like Buckley is seeking out information about the day to day running of the club. Neither of them would have a clue. It sounds like someone who departed recently and worked under this current FD.

Richo sacked him, now calling all the shots.

I thought Richo would be first man out the exit.

The club is ready for the last rites.

Think he mentioned this last night. One of our AFLW coaches who was moved on a couple of months ago worked with Buckley in the past. Can't remember the name

If you watched Agenda Setters on Tuesday night. Mitch Cleary was referring to Marcus Wagner. I must admit this took me by surprise.

That's it. Former GM of AFLW program. Now curiously being run by Clare Pettyfor.

Always found that one strange in the way he departed the club.

There was no real explanation why he was leaving except that he was departing the club.

If its true that Bucks has reached out to potentially return then clearly there was a fallout with Goodwin.

Would love Burgess and Brendan Mc Carthy to come back!

Thanks Mark. You genuinely did all you could to get the best out of these boys. However like Goody, i think your message fell on deaf ears. Wish you all the best.

To the incoming head of development, may i suggest bring some concrete bags, a few skits and training drills inspired by the squid games, because it going to take something drastic to improve the skills of this side.

Why do they have to say 'Axed'?

Not deserving of that.

Media.

(And, @Demonland, don't let us be like them. Modify thread title?)

Agree, axed is too severe. At this time of year, many assistants will not have their contract renewed. It is an AFL rule that the assistants have to be notified of their future contract status before the end of August. I thank him for his service, but as the club has declared they feel the need for a new voice, it is difficult to see any of the current assistants lasting beyond their current contract.

out of contract at the end of 2025 afl season, he was always likely to go this year

choc is a particular type of person, and while he's undoubtedly mellowed with age, i would think his stint at the dees has been longer than that with tigs or gw$

Could be Mark Neeld who would have been a Senior Assistant at the same time as Bucks.

The Demon stalwart surpassed the number of his father's appearances for the club towards the end of the season. As he approaches his thirties, his pace is inevitably slowing, and he is likely to explore alternative opportunities beyond the team's midfield.

“Disco” took his time (four seasons) but the mid-season draftee has been a shining light of Melbourne's campaign, improving to become a versatile option at either end of the ground. He has great marking skills which allows him to play as a marking target up forward or an intercepting defender down back.

The skipper delivered another outstanding season, leading the team from the front, participating in every game, and earning club champion honours, while also securing an equal record eighth All-Australian blazer as a ruckman.  Max Gawn is arguably the greatest exponent of ruck skills in the history of the game; an exceptional leader who has guided the club to a premiership, through the challenging times that followed, and now into the next phase of its storied history.

It was a frustrating season for the former number 13 draft selection, who failed to build momentum in his second campaign; Tholstrup played only nine games, having been omitted twice and substituted out three times. However, he demonstrated promising signs in the midfield at Casey towards the end of the season, and big things are anticipated from him in the coming years.
