Yes, in more ways than one

Mostly true story:

I was about to leave a rude note on the windscreen of a car that was parked inappropriately at the end of my one way street.

As I was approaching the car to adhere the aforementioned note, a well groomed young man came towards the vehicle.

To my surprise ( and in the nick of time ) I realised it was a current Dees’ player so my plan was aborted , and to justify my close proximity to his car, I introduced myself as a neighbour and Dees’ supporter , and in the same breath asked if he could expand on the rumours surrounding a possible signing of a certain GC player.

He said NO

End of story.

Bad parking. Off-field issues!! Unload him to another club.

First time poster, pls don't bite my head off!

I know this sounds vv far fetched and I have no credible source apart from "a friend of a friend...." .......... Merrett to the Dees & Petracca to the Hawks...

Do Essendon get anything?

Interesting Sydney pushing out players to go for Curnow. They are so aggressive aren’t they? Lockett, Franklin, Curnow.

Are you Tom Morris? Reason being you gave a great cover storey; You are a ‘Dees supporter’ and the response of a short sharp ‘No’ is kind of suss

don't forget kurt tippett nor barry hall

the latter the only one of their many high profile key forward recruits to win a premiership with them, as skipper no less

If I were even a moderately rich man - you know, had owned a home in the 80s or something - I'd be sponsoring the creation of a website which filtered and abbreviated all the sports news so nobody had to grind through the slush, and partnered with all the interesting independent types to provide a genuine flow of feature content as well.

Come to think of it, if I were a footballer on $800k I'd probably be slipping a solid whack of money in to help make that happen, too.

Surely we have enough of that calibre.

Shouldn't we be recruiting grungy, toothless, rat tailed mullety types with full sleeve, neck and head tatts that only speak ye olde Oz lingo and slang?

Not to sound like an [censored], but Swans fans have much more to be in mourning about than Isaac Heeney getting engaged 😂.

I agree about hating to sort through nonsense reporting to get to the actual footy bits though.

The Trade Whsiperer (on X) just claimed the Merrett saga could get really nasty quickly / essentially Merrett threatening to reveal a bunch of bad stuff about Essendon if he isn’t granted a trade.

This is starting to look worse than the Dees’ troubles with Oliver and Trac last year.

Unfortunately this is the new era of the AFL, players can just tantrum their way out of contracts to the contender of their choice.

I just saw Tom Papley and Dan Hannebery having a good old yakety-yak in South Yarra.

Papley was dressed in a matching track suit of a rather striking reddish brown colour. Perhaps a mahogany or a chestnut.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
