I have very few worries about Kolt as a prospect, i think there are similarities with early Petracca in his trajectory, once his training standards and fitness base catch up with what's being asked of him i think he'll become a really solid AFL player. Probably not a superstar, but i think Sam Powell Pepper could be a bit of an insight into the player i think he can eventually become.

I would be surprised if a club doesn’t approach Laurie.

I'll be shocked if they do.

If we got Fogarty for Trac I'd take it and run, Adelaide would laugh at us though.

Me too, but no way the crows would go for that with Walker likely retiring

The overrating of Trac on this site is quite unbelievable. He is a banged up soon to 30yo and people reckon he is a straight swap for Thiltorpe?

What if he grew a beard...?

Rayner didnt take the next for quite a few years, tbh he was meant to be the next big midfielder and he has never got there.
Kolt has a few more years to develop and get better... or not.

Talk about setting the bar low.

Lol. Bit rich, @DubDee , given your defending of Salem all year.

I have heard Adelaide is the most serious trading partner for Petracca and Dees are targeting 2x within the top 15 of this draft (for which Adelaide will have to get creative).

I wonder if that means Adelaide have said no to Rachelle or he has.

From what l have seen he already has healthy training standards and fitness. Just looks a bit lost at AFL. level

If Merrett leaves Essendon perhaps we can off load Oliver or a direct swap play we need to throw in gold plated stake Knives ( 2nd rounder)

Adelaide can trade a future first and a bunch of junk picks this year to Gold Coast for pick 6 since the Suns will be taking academy guys anyway and can use the points.

Well said Picket.

I see Oliver being like Newcombe, getting the ball out to other players from the clearance.

He is only 28 and has plenty of footy left in him and we saw signs he is getting back to his best.

Get a bit more pace and skill into the side and he becomes even more important, to give us first use of the ball.

He loves the club, will have a new Coach and will be really invigorated to get back to being the best contested player we have and one of the best in the AFL.

Others may leave, but Clarry stays and is ours.

We will be cheering him on next year and for years after.

I'm surprised so many people think Oliver can get back to the player he was. I was hopeful at the start of the year but we're now two and a half years since seeing him play at a consistently high level. His best this year was just okay and I tend to think that's the player he is now.

I hope King can get him back but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm glad you're not involved in our trading decisions then.

If I were we wouldn't have traded in Schache, Fullarton, Billings et al I would've prioritised guys like Peter Wright and Mabior Chol over the last few years as well. But yeah, Tim Lamb's doing an excellent job 👌

Does anyone know who we were aiming to draft when we traded up and got Tholstrop?

At the moment the only thing that suggests that we weren't going to get Tholstrop is that we did a late dash to his home in W.A which suggests we got word that our target wouldn't be available.

I always had the impression that the trade up to 12 was originally for Windsor. As draft night grew closer, it became apparent he wasn’t going to make it that far so we had to take him at 7. I also think we wanted to throw the kitchen sink at Harley Reid and probably thought getting up to 12 would be a juicier proposition for West Coast combined with all our other picks. So I’m only guessing, but I doubt Tholstrup was really a ‘target’ and just the way the cards fell in the end unfortunately

I always thought we traded up in that draft to get ahead of Wet Toast.

I think I remember Taylor saying that they felt there was a significant drop off in talent after that pick, so they thought it was important to get two picks inside the top 13 or so

Kolt might not have been the specific target but seems like he was in a group of players we rated higher than the remainder of the draft

I'm the same. I think the best we can hope for is about the same but with much less nervous nowhere handballing.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.
