Lindsay in the guts instead of Windsor?

You won't this week. XL has a hammy issue that will keep him out at least this match

I think I read Lindsay is unavailable with Hamstring.

OUT: Howes, TMac, Windsor

IN: May, Kentfield, Billings/Kolt

Petty back, Adams/Kentfield sub

Howes came on & Bowey went into the mid/forward rotation.

I would like to see more of Bowey in that role.

A decent outcome.

Bowey has composure and generally spots / hits targets inside 50 pretty well and can score on occasions also.

If that's the set up from here (Howes in, Sparrow out and a decent impact sub off the bench at some point in the future) i reckon that's a win for us. Maybe the sub is Sparrow?

Do we need all of McVee, Howes, Salo, Windsor & Bowey down back? Not that they're all solely playing back there for the entire match but i think you get my drift.

I would think May comes in for Adam’s, Howes and Windsor both out. Would like to see Viney dropped and Salem but not sure it happens.

Lindsay, Kolt and Spargo all in the frame to play. Kynan Brown and Kentfield are Smokey’s.

On another note, Petty and JVR played their best game together this year. Hope they continue to build form and connection.

Why are you dropping Viney and Saltm

In - May, Jeffo

Out - TMac/Petty (dropping either would be harsh - big picture call), Windsor

play Adams and Jeffo for last 2 games. Howes to wing

There is no way they are dropping Petty or T Mac. T Mac demolished Darcy last week and Petty is the future at and 25. Adams is stiff but he had 5 kicked on him and 💯 the first out

In. May. Out. Adams

In. Sharp. Out. Windsor (inj)

May comes straight back in. Adams was ok but was physically pushed aside too easily and needs more protein and gym work

Sharp in for his pace. Give him a starting role and assign to Impey. Do not let their half backs run it through the farrrkn corridor !!!!!!

I'd really like us to give Adams more exposure at the top level, but agree it's hard to justify his spot with the available senior players. Play him as sub maybe?

Sharp is the next closest to winning a permanent spot in the side. He actually reminds me alot of ANB era 2020 when he was on the frindge, but had the weapons and application to become a perminant senior performer by developing just that bit more to take him to the next level.

I hope we experiment with a couple of younger guys to see what they've got. I'd like Luker to get the sub gig and come on for a quarter as I don't think he has the engine due to his pre season injury. I'd also like to see Brown and Laser get another go.

Why are people resting players like Tmac & Melksham? There’s two games to go for gods sake

I’d reward them both with one year contracts & play them till seasons end, they deserve it

Tmac was in the coaches votes

Because the last thing we need is to lose either or both with a serious injury with only two matches left and nothing riding on them.

I'd also rest Max for TC in these last few and consider also resting Vines & Tracc with a few ins from Casey. Vines in particular is looking pretty spent of late.

Albeit that might stuff Casey's chances of cementing a spot in the top eight so there's that.

I would not risk May either. Keep going with Adams. Can't hurt to get a few more games that have no meaning into him.

Is this because Casey’s season doesn’t matter?

No it certainly matters but some senior players should be up for 'managed' consideration in the last few matches GW.

Not all at once of course, in the sense that you still want to field a competitive team both at senior & Casey levels.

Personally i feel we've left the option to do so (if we're being fair to Casey) a little too late. Ie; if we went earlier once any chance of finals were shot we could have done it in drips and drabs without having much impact on Casey or the seniors imv.

I also believe in this as a matter of course in-season at senior level in order to rest the odd veteran here and there a la the way the Cats senior vets were managed by Scott (and still are) during their premiership season. He did an impressive job with one of the oldest teams going at the time and i think others have trialled that afterwards.

McCrae probably the latest although he may have over done things a tad at one point and they appear to have lost momentum coming into finals. They still have a few weeks to fix it but i hope they don't!

Having said all that i'm of the view that a winning Casey is important for the club both in terms of good learnings (i hate that term... apologies in advance), for the up-and-coming rookies and positivity in general throughout the club (pushing for and maintaining a winning culture at all levels).

I’m glad you’re not the coach, injuries happen, the worst thing you can do is wrap players up in cotton wool, we’ve got to play out the season on a positive note in a horrible season

Who knows it could be Melksham & Tmac last season or they may have 2 more games to prove themselves for another contract

Big game this weekend. It could be for the ‘Christian Petracca Cup’

TMac won't be dropped. Petty won't play back - he hasn't for the past 2 years and was one of our best last week - playing forward.

Neither Adams or Kentfield would make a suitable sub - neither are versatile enough.

Billings is out the door at season's end. Why play him?

Hopefully the umpires gift us a soft free kick right in front of goal for the blatant miss from the last game with Kossie being tripped. I’m still [censored] off about that one.

thinking

In May and Spargo

Out Adam’s And Windsor

May be if fit means Adam’s goes back (Not because Adams was terrible)

Windsor injured a hammy needs extra to get ok spargo played ok At Casey

Sparrow the sub.

There is no 'proving' required for T-Mac & Melk

They're not rookies. Both are experienced valuable 'required' players unless they decide they want to hang up the boots at the end of the season which, given their longevity in the game, would be understandable.

T-Mac up there in our top two defenders this season bar a few off games about mid way when he probably needed to be managed but wasn't.

Melk has been one of our best up forward on occasions and clearly one of the senior voices that knows how to play forward with some of the best forward craft of anyone on the list. Yes he's not the Melk we saw in 2018 and has slowed down / struggling a tad now when the ball hits the deck but he can still turn things on and is a tricky match up for an oppo coach / SC.

Melk was managed during the season by Simon & Co. quite well imo.

I'm not suggesting we rest all of those i mentioned at once. Just listing those i feel should probably be under consideration.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
