Great effort today. Play with that effort and game style and we'd win most weeks.

Bad luck. Umpires didn't help.

Very good effort after a slow start

Plenty to like from Rivers and Culley

Two more efforts like that and we will get at least one more win

Great game

Valliant effort but fell just short. I knew the team would respond positively this week

Our flaws were there for all to see but you couldn’t question the heart

If we can get better disposers onto the list we’re a chance

Big trade period coming up for the club

And another positive. We might still be able to knock the pies out of the finals in Rd 23

Jack Viney you have been so hard and gallant for a long period but we simply need you to start lowering your eyes if we are going be able to implement a slicker game style.

Tough loss but not disappointed with that - excellent effort against a quality side and the players looked reinvigorated.

Really liked Chaplin's use of Petty and Disco, right away he's more flexible with those guys than Goodwin appeared willing to be on game day.

So, so proud! Who said they wouldn’t play for our interim coach?

Is Chaplin the right guy?

Why not.

Offer him 1 year.

Not much to lose for either him or the Club.

Anyone think Windsor has Butters-like potential? Didn’t play the greatest game today but I’ve seen many flashes

Viney's decision making is so costly.

I hope Windsor's hammy isn't bad.

Adams showed good signs.

Bowey forward was interesting. His precise kicking stood out.

Losing always stings, but that game almost took me back to the 90s.

Fast paced and one on one footy. A great spectacle, well done to both sides.

I agree with Goody, we aren’t that far off from competing again.

Lots of positives from the game. Young guys played really well. Rivers, Petty and Langford really lifted.

Massive calls on some ineffectual old guys coming up. Viney and Salem firmly in the gun.

Magnificent game of football.

So proud of the tremendous fighting spirit our players showed for the first time in ages.

Langford will be our next superstar.

And Oliver looked hungrier for the contest than I have seen him for at least two seasons.

Windsor hammy an absolute sour day on what was almost a breakout game for him.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
