Not sure we will necessarily go after big names. You might have a new coach lure some free agents to fill gaps and we can also now trade 2 years worth of picks.

Our list is not in a diabolical state. There’s a lot of natural growth to come from our young players, and you have the opportunity to get Trac and Clarry and Lever and Fritsch back to their best and very quickly rise back up the ladder.

May, Viney and Melksham are the only 3 best 22 players who will likely continue to decline with age next year. I’d add Gawn too but he’s somehow getting better with age. Freak of nature.

There was a doco on prime that followed a few afl teams a few years ago. One was the Eagles in 2020. So obviously covid. But my overwhelming memory of it was that I would absolutely hate adam simpson and that I'd hate playing for him. Real 1970s type coach vibes. Huge no from me

Him too. The way the gws coach treated the captain was disgusting. Same doco? I was very impressed with Adelaide's coach.

Get the feeling Longmire has no interest at least not so soon. Simmo would take the call and Buckley seems very keen.

I’d be worried about Buckley unless he has changed his coaching philosophy as it was out of date when he got the sack and it’s absolutely prehistoric now.

Simmo was always ready to try new things so I’d be at least interested in what his ideas would be if he were to take it on.

I think ultimately we need someone who is ahead of the curve and not chasing the latest fad but who knows what the next thing will be.
