Not surprised by the way this has been handled. After 65 years of following this club, I've learned not to expect the expected.

What if they hired a psychic and found that the only way to truly break the curse was to sack and then reinstate Simon like they did the great one?

I thought we would get a big loss against the dogs on Sunday after watch the form of both teams over the last month.

Nothing has been announced by the club yet, I'm not saying I disbelieve the reports, but we're speculating a lot when there's not much real information in front of us.

Imagine if Goody wasn't really sacked but that the club staged the Board meeting to draw out the mole.

Ah, the irony: not so for Simon's 10th season.

We had to make this call and i’m glad we had the balls to do it early. plenty of time to find the right guy and get him in soon for trades and draft etc.

Well I was very surprised this morning but not shocked.

First off a huge thanks to Simon Goodwin I loved our rise back up the ladder in 2017, who will forget our finals campaign in 2018 beating Hawks & Cats and then 2021 when we played scintillating football, beat the Cats x3, Brisbane in Adelaide, Cats in Perth then The Doggies in the big one, playing the best football that I have ever witnessed we got a Photo with the Cup at the G. Being great in 2023-2023 but kicking ourselves out of a win in the finals, who will ever forget that disgusting game against Pies and then the numbing loss against the Blues. The wheels fell off in 2034 after Tracc’s tragic injury that really rocked the club.

I am very disappointed at the way this has ended for Simon and hope that he is OK. You go with our blessings Simon and most of us hope that you enjoy whatever comes your way, you deserve it despite our poor last 18 months. I’m unhappy in the way that Our Club has stuffed this sacking up letting that Rat Morris announce it to the World but Now Demonland can get back to it’s better self.

It’s perfect timing.

In business if you decide to move on from someone, the best time to finish is immediately.

Out of respect to him, and the best thing for the organisation. We do it any later than now, knowing we aren’t going with him next year, would be lunacy.

He’s been a great coach for us and should be always respected for that, and now is the time to start building out next premiership

It's not so much the timing, it's letting him go out in a respectful way. 100% it was coming, but could of been handled a lot better IMO.

I thought this thread would be full of relief and excitement and all there is is whinging about the timing and why we haven’t made an announcement.

sacking are always leaked. sometime the night before.

Delivered us a Flag and it was great, he will always be remembered and honoured for that success.

but since 2023 has not been blessed to prepare and deliver success with the list. The blame is not only on him and he will not be the only one that needs to go to bring success back to the team.

The question is what type of coach do we go for? Experienced Horse or a new coach like McRae, Mitchell to bring success.

Goody has been a fantastic servant of the club and will go down in the history books as one of our best however it was really clear that change was needed and that is ok. Reality is this is probably 2 years too late however glad the club has made the move. Who cares if it’s now or in three weeks. Get a head of the game to find our next coach.

The only strange part about the timing is why do this coming of an 80 point win rather than the St Kilda capitulation.

How do you respectfully sack someone?

It has to be sharp and quick.

He was given the respect of a lot of time

The facts are:

• Since it all hit the skids, out of our last 35 games, we have won only 12, and lost 23.

• Of those 12 we have won, we won 5 of them in a 6 game stretch this year. (this streak covered over the cracks)

• We lost 5 out of our last 6 in 2024.

• We started 2025 with 0-5. (that was 1 win of the last 11 then).

• We have lost 7 out of our last 9 games, including the embarrassing capitulation v STK.

• In the last 19 games, we have 8. We won 5 of them in a 6 game stretch this year.

All this with a fair chunk of premiership players playing, a very good injury list which we may never see again.

Daisy Pierce, anyone?

Think we will find out a lot about how the players feel about the situation on Sunday.

Would nice for them to dig in and make it competitive, but I could see a 10+ goal loss.

Sacking your coach, who is known to be close with many of the players, with 3 games left in the season after a big win is just bizarre.

There is no coach currently available that is so good that it is worth alienating our playing group and embarrassing our only living premiership coach.

So club statement says they will now commence their search......
