Not sure why, but for some reason I feel humiliated.

My brother (Saint) who I went to the match with and another Saints friend apologised to me.

Lyon laughing didn't help either.

We show our soft belly again. The inability to deal with momentum swings, and the lack of a strong-will.

MFC continue to choose when to play, and when enough is enough.

They thought they had won, so they weren't going to pressure anymore, or to think, or play a natural game.

They aren't playing a system, they play the scoreboard. They then get away from the roles Goody and the coaches want them to do.

Something is wrong, I thought they would enjoy being free from having too achieve and just play good footy. They take the the foot off the pedal, and it doesn't look like fun, or love, or care, but hard work, and I am unsure if any really want to be out there.

I think this season has kicked them, and they find it difficult to have any expression of joy.

I know you're not necessarily blaming them but pointing out the foibles of some of our less experienced/younger players when this loss was caused by a total absence of leadership across the board (both on and off field) is remarkable.

I think it’s wise, at times like this, to separate oneself from the blokes who represent us. My immediate emotional response after the final siren was a reminder that it wasn’t me that failed so dismally, it was the 25 who took the field today. It’s not my problem to chew over and over until we experience retribution. It’s the team’s problem. Like many others, I have withdrawn my emotional involvement with MFC until it’s safe to come out and enjoy the footy.

Reminds me of the 2023 semi-final loss to Carlton. We have some great blood 'n guts, die for you footballers. But what we lack are smart players, especially amongst the leaders.

That St Kilda could work out what needed to be done and then execute while we couldn't speaks volumes about what's going on on-field.

If we had indeed won today by 46 points of more it would have changed nothing. All the cracks and broken bits would have been covered up again . Move on nothing to see here. And we would still be a broken club with the draft upon us or into 2026 and losing five of six games in a row, again.

But it’s not, it’s all out in the open for all the football world to laugh and point at.

And rightly so, that last quarter was …poor.

So we need done strong leadership from inside the ex playing group perhaps or anyone who knows a lot more than I do.

And that’s one of the things right there. The difference between our best and worst is too far. Probably the most jarring in the league. And the fact that it happens so often, and sometimes in the same game is disheartening. One of the reasons we can’t get big crowds to games. We are not a trustworthy team. You just don’t know who you’re going to see if you head to a game, and that’s inexcusable.

Last time we played the saints I was listening to the pre-game on the radio.
Steve Johnson declares that for the saints to win they need Wanganeen-Milera to have a big game and Melbourne should put someone on him as he was the threat.
Goodwin let him run free and we got our backside handed to us.
Fast forward to our next game and what happens .....
Goodwin learns freakin' nothing.

On a different note today I was watching the Saints warm-up and noted how young they all were.
When an opposition team gets a run on like that I expect our experienced leaders to steady the ship.
Gawn does sometimes but Petracca , Oliver, Viney etc, our premiership winning guns against these kids.
Absolutely useless.

If I didn't have an AFL membership I definitely would do this too. I've been a member for 37 years (since I was a 7yo kid) so wouldn't want to break the streak either but [censored] me they make it hard. If I wouldn't lose my spot as a full AFL member I'd definitely cancel.
