Most overrated things of season 2025, so far:

Darcy?

If I was starting a team from scratch he would be my number one pick

He's a member of a class of well remunerated tall forwards known as 'b-graders'. Members include Membery, McStay, McLean, Darling and Marshall. They all have similar career stats and drive their clubs supporters nuts. They also have a disturbing pattern of playing in premierships.

He is a C grader at best... was shizzen again last night! Would not get a game at West Coast!

Father Sons have worked well for the Lions & Pies, what I question is the strategy of those teams inc the cats in there premiership windows have topped up with experienced players vs our strategy to go back to the draft which Goodwin confirmed, did we blow the opportunity to maximise our window 22-23 ??

I tried to follow that sentence but got trapped in a father-son-cat-draft-premiership wormhole. By the time I emerged, it was 2051, Louis Gawn had just retired with three Brownlows and two Colemans in his kit bag, and we were still debating our 2022 list strategy and the merits of drafting Jack Watts with pick one. Pass the spaghetti — I need carbs to survive that syntax.

easier to top up with experienced players when you can trade out of any early picks you have for experienced players in the full knowledge that you are bringing in incredible talent like nick daicos, ashcroft brothers, a fletcher, etc. etc. so that you are able to bring in top end talent regardless

Port now below us on percentage, with Adelaide to come next week.

Win tonight and next week and there's a fair chance we jump to 11th. Port and Carlton have tough runs home, so we could keep it.

Nothing in it for us other than pride and ruining Essendon's pick.

Coupla bucks on Norf at $14.

Probably throwing it away but gives me something to cheer for.

Umpiring generally makes it really hard work when you're a visiting team against a porochial crowd. You can't tell me these yellow blokes don't get sucked in by the crowd.

Go Dees

Started to watch Dorks v Port. Dermie was special comments.

I've often wondered how someone so charismatic as a footballer can be so mind-numbingly boring to listen to?

Maybe I'm in the minority.

Interesting that there's now a clear top 9 within which even a current top 4 team could miss finals the end if the season.

On the other hand, the 'also-ran' premiership at 10th place is wide open. If the kangaroos get over Sydney today even they are a mathematical shot.

It isn't the greatest achievement in footbal but climbing past Port, Carlton and the Swans in the late season to finish in the much more respectable sounding tenth would be a worthy pursuit.

Plus, every draft slot it costs Essendon is a bonus.

Jeez, that Xerri suspension has helped Grundy this week.

Doesn't help either his replacement is already subbed off injured

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
