I would not say Spargo was very good for Casey last week. 16 disposals for an experienced AFL player in a lower league is, at best good. I’d say he was ok.

9 tackles and 10 contested possessions as a half forward is more than ok

Ā

Love: Jefferson, Tholstrup, Windsor and Windsor stay in again.

Hate: Sharp gets a call up...

Spargo has some great attributes, but he has some poor/average ones as well. Getting his hands on the ball and scoreboard impact, he is on the poor scale. As you said he is a half forward. Forwards kick goals and have a higher percentage of goal assists.

I'm only slightly less grumpy about seeing Sharp back than I would have been about seeing Spargo back. So I guess that's a win.

Howes unlucky but TMac didn't deserve to be dropped to make room for him.

I suppose we just won't see Laurie or Billings again this year, or ever.

Yeah well when I played half forward I'd get a lazy 3 -5 goals as well!!!!! I DONT see spargy pants doin that!!?

Could be. Could also be that this is his second concussion this season and they want to see how he pulls up, and given our season is over in terms of finals, there’s no point risking him.

It’s also possible that they are determined to keep Jeffo and JVR in the seniors for a few more weeks.

I was thinking the same thing be Harry Petty. Maybe just giving him half a game??

The coaches are clearly seeing something with Sharp that I'm not.

I'd much rather give Laurie a run.

Clearly they do

I guess they see more of them, and how they fulfil their roles.

I can't see the point to Sharp until he shows he is capable of playing 4 quarters of decent football. Sure he is an okay sub choice, but it is not helping him develop as a footballer.

I have no idea why we have an aversion to resting players like Lindsay. Give him a week off to freshen up, and let him loose for the last five weeks.

Both Windsor and Tholstrup are very, very lucky to be playing this week when there are other players who haven't been given an opportunity yet.

Carlton have 10 players out, and a lot of them are best 22. McKay and Walsh are game changers on their day.

Silvagni, McGovern, Cottrell and Kemp are solid role players and Fantasia had recently regained form.

Admittedly people like Newman and Jagga Smith haven't played all year.

We really should be winning this game, and it would be a step back if we don't.

I expect the St Kilda game to be a tougher proposition than this one, but who knows with us??

wondering if May pulled a sickie last week so his 250th didnt clash with Olivers 200th

He had covid.

Agree. Not as confident as last week but for every match winner they still have, we probably have two. A lot of their players are noticeably down on confidence. Worst case scenario here is they kick accurately early on, get their tails up and get some score board pressure. 'We are not as bad as you think'

We aren't GC or GWS, we simply dont have any regular goal scoring small half forwards on the list

Chandler is close to a goal a game, and after that it's slim pickings

Exactly, which is why he shouldn't have played anywhere near the amount of games he has!

Just curious, cause I've noticed you've been conspicuously on Sharps case for most of the season.

What's your knock on him exactly, and why do you feel (as a relatively young 22yo) that he can't develop like some of the other young players on the list?

I didn't know anything about him when we got him, other than hearing he was an extremely good runner and that he was an emergency in last years GF.
From what I saw in the pre season games and have seen so far this season, he doesn't seem the worst?

Disposal not the best and a bit fumbly, but can run hard and is not bad around the goals.
Reminds me a bit of early ANB.

I agree, our playing stocks are limited therefore Spargs should be getting games, but I hope the club recruits small forwards who are more threatening in the attacking and defensive aspect of playing forward.

Charlie is at 0.6 goals and 0.62 goal assists per game in his career. His possession average is 11 disposals per game. These stats are on the lower level of average, bordering on poor. His kicking skills are over rated on Demonland given he averages 6 kicks per game and struggles to kick 40 meters.

He is a smart footballer and knows how to position himself on field, but he is not overly athletic and has average speed. Other than playing half forward or wing he is limited to be played in other positions.

This is not a personal attack in Spargo, just my view on his ability at AFL level.

I'd like to see Lindsay have a week off/at casey. He is clearly spent after 20% of a preseason

Kolt and Sparrow out too

Only talls to replace them makes it an interesting week.

Do May/Petty come in? if so, for who?

One thing is for sure, whatever the selection committee decide, Goodwin made a mistake

Your comments about Lindsay & Kolt seem obvious to most commentators & supporters in fact everyone bar Goodie the 🤔

You're classifying Pickett as an on-baller?

Absolutely, kozzy is a midfielder. He is probably averaging 20+ centre bounce attendances this year.
