Just look at Curnow over at blues to see the same thing, this is the time of year when it shows the most

We will put him back in form and fix that problem up. You can bank on it.

Getting stuck into Jefferson is so typical of Melbourne supporters who have been screaming for changes and wanting to play for the future.

He’s played 4 [censored] games in maybe the worst forwardline in the entire competition. His teammates include another kid down on confidence in JVR, a newbie in Kolt who is struggling badly, a red hot Melksham and Fritsch who hasn’t done anything since 1986.

Will he make it? Probably not. Do we know this yet? No we don’t. What is the point of dropping him? The season is over. Let him play and see if he can grow in confidence.

You want to have a go at someone? Have a go at senior players who can’t tackle, can’t handball, and have poor efforts repeatedly.

What’s happened to Judd McVee? His form this year has dropped away dramatically. Missing a large chunk of pre season seems to be having an effect on his performances on match day.

Young players can’t afford to miss pre seasons. It absolutely kills their season. It’s why the effort from Lindsay this season is absolutely incredible.

Great games from Viney, Bowey, Disco and Melksham.

38 marks across Disco, May and Lever is crazy.

The goal review system is garbage.

Totally agree re goal review. That was just amateur hour. Everyone could see McVee touched it and were screaming at the TV to go back a few frames from that other angle.

Crazy how bad that is. It’s like 1980s tech, with someone with no common sense reviewing the footage.

My left field suggestion for pre-season training camp… Mongolian Horseback Archery. Teach the lads to hit a target!

Geez, we have got to stop handballing to anything resembling a footy player at the mere hint of a shadow!!!!

This is the seed of so many of our problems. Putting team mates under pressure, creating turnovers, killing momentum. Early in Goodwin's reign up to 2020 this was a huge problem and it has reared its ugly head again. And unfortunately, our major proponents are Langdon, Petracca, Rivers, Salem and today we added in Clarry, Sparrow, and Viney.

Lots of dumb footy , dumb decisions, fumbles and fumbles 💔

Lots of heart and effort and grit ❤️

Trac needs specsavers - fumbles everything 💔

Goody - McVee got thrashed and he kept him on Rankine 💔

Gawn fights to the end but his kick to Oreilly was just so poor

Basically we failed in the real “Moments that mattered”

Missed shots in 1st qtr by Trac x2, kozzzy, Jeffo , Langdon, Melksham

Fritsch miss in 3rd qtr from 8 metres out

Curtin marks uncontested in a pack in the last qtr on 10n square

Kozzzzy in the last which was touched on the line

Umps give Keays the goal when it was touched

I hate to have to say it… but Jeffo looks like a bust. Do we persist for more games in 25 or just cut our losses?

I mentioned it earlier, but his confidence looked shot towards the end of the game.

I think we have to persist for the remainder of the season and hope he's able to string together some form and confidence to take into the off-season.

Give Jeffo a Go I say.

The required intensity and effort were there for most of the game, and AFL level skills were on show at times.

Sadly however, a few of our experienced players seem past it, and some of the ‘future’ we’ve been banking on, are really struggling to have a positive impact.

It’s now become a critical run up to the end of the season for some at our Club, both on and off the field!

when will we switch May to FF to be with JvR?

Bring back TMac.

Lever one more chance.

Fritta, you lit up my life in Perth but you have been caught for being a one-tricker (lead, mark, kick).

But how good the Shake?

I'm off to see the Village People in November at the MCG - great something good at the G in Spring!

And Reiwolt commented wondering why were 3 forwards running to the same pocket instead of spreading? Was that kick to the pocket the only option for the ball carrier, hard to tell from the TV?

It certainly looked like it. Just absolutely batpoo

Yes, whatever happened to TMac?

This must be his last season, he was playing very well and then Simon decided to drop him... That was like 8 or 9 weeks ago.

And it's not like our 22 list week on week is performing so well.

Melksham definitely gets another year, maybe even two.

May and Lever were much better today. Turner is a gun.

Kosi continues to shine as one of the premier hybrids.

I want to see more of Langford. His decision making is excellent.

Viney and Max battled manfully and Rivers was good early.

The drop off from Tracc is “kinda” understandable given his age and injury, but why oh why is Clarry so bad aged 27? He should be in his prime.

Big JT fan but Jefferson and Kolt look like busts. Trading some good picks to move up for Kolt is looking disastrous given our lack of depth.

Another honorable loss. It’s [censored] depressing having dead rubbers this early in the year .

Top post.

Much the same thoughts - saves me posting.

I'd add tracc's fumbling has become chronic. No where near his best.

And seriously, if Jones is going to come I to the AFL system and immediately become a midfield coach then he deserves AFL level scrutiny.

We were flat our appalling today at stoppages, particularly centre square stoppages. Oor set up and structures wete all over the place. I mean how often did maxy hit forward and the crows run onto the loose ball. That's largely on Jones

The AFL 2022 draft is a total bust for most clubs - COVID really did have a deleterious effect. There are probably only going to be six-10 players that player more than 100 games. We missed on Weddle though - went three picks after the Airplane.

This game showed Goody knows what he is doing, he’s just got the wrong cattle. We had a plan and it was quite effective for the first half.

After that, our errors just compounded and we threw away another one with horrible skills.

It feels like changing coach will be the path of least resistance for the club but gee, I would love to run a broom through the playing list and start a full blown rebuild now.

We’ve got a lot of players that barely contribute, each and every week

I agree but they simply have to play him every game for this year, there is nothing to lose and he needs a string of games.

I'd drop Fritta ahead of him.

They really both have to go. They were both passengers today. Petty back in and give Kentfield a go instead of Jeffo. At least he can take a big grab

That review shows how corrupt the competition is. Footage showing touched was there but not provided/shown until after the goal was awarded. 0% chance that occurs to Pies or Cats, or for this time only, the Crows.

That’s poor coaching though, you need to work with what you have, he’s been here 9 years….. let me say that again 9 years, we haven’t been able to score under Goodwin for a long time, 2018, 2021, apart from that we have always been a terrible scoring team, good on D but so unreliable infront of goal.

Either we get a senior assistant in to run the midfield / forward connection or we move Goodwin on, this CANNOT go on in 2026, I [censored] hate watching my football team play…..

For 12 minutes today in the second quarter I dared to hope. Kozzie takes a specky and goals. It made me forget the 2 out on the full shots at goal in the first and the 1 goal 6 at quarter time.

Then reality bit, and we did not lay a tackle for the rest of the 2nd quarter and let them back into the game.

Already mentioned, but what has happened to Knucklke? Rankin took him apart but left on him. Langdon got a million touches and butchered most of them, including his set shot for goal. Fritch leaves me speechless, and for those who criticise Jeffo, look at Fritches' effort. He is either out of the building or disinterested and as far as I am concerned, he can go somewhere else and ply his trade. Chandler offers nothing best summed up by an instance where he tried to handball over the opponent and got smothered, got it back and tried again and still handballed into the same oncoming opposition. What does he bring to the team I ask! Surely we have a more polished skilled forward somewhere? And Clarrie, I am finally admitting that he ain't the player he was, and I cannot see that player ever returning

I like the attempt to change the game plan and change direction, play keeping off but some of our players do not have the skill or polish to execute the modern game style. The contested possession beasts are getting left behind. THis one wasn't on the coach it was on the players

I’m not sure what was more infuriating.

The 4 set shot misses from practically dead in front in the first qtr, (which use all the stats you want). That cost us the game.. AGAIN!

Or that PATHETIC 3rd quarter.

Honestly Fritsch & Salem. Thanks for your service 👋🏻.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
