Anyone in italics I'd listen to offers on

Bold are the ins i want or have been speculated

Sestan, Kynan Brown survive but only just, key forward cupboard is so bare and only the first 4 of currently listed forwards are actually capable afl players

Heath?

Verrall was on the field for half the time, and got more taps/hits to advantage – mainly against Heath.

Maybe we should go and get Harry Boyd as well? Where is his fan base from last year?

How Tim Lamb is still holding the position of List Manager is completely baffling.

Regardless of coaching structures and leadership, this man has recruited the following players:

  • Schache

  • Dunstan

  • Billings

  • Fullarton

  • McAdam

  • Hunter

  • Grundy (which was never going to work)

It has been a complete and utter disaster since 2021. And yet again, like any mediocrity, the football club have simply allowed people to perform this way and not be held to account.

I think all the extra years on lots of players contracts are another of his failures. I am like you and can’t believe he still has his job.

We still have 16 players unsigned from this year, will be interesting to see how it plays out. These players are Moniz-Wakefield, Spargo, Sharp, Billings, Henderson, Culley, Melksham, McVee, Brown, Hore, Sestan, Woewodin, Campbell, Fullarton, McDonald, Verrall.

Moniz-Wakefield should get another year, showed some attributes last year and was unlucky to do his ACL in preseason.

Spargo is a tougher one, but I think we need to be a bit ruthless here. Has been given chances this year and hasn't shown me any reason to deserve another contract. Apparently has played in 10 games this year somehow.

Sharp gets another contract. I would like to see him play a game on the wing this weekend, given Lindsay is out. With his run could be a weapon, still has a way to go though.

Billings is probably more likely to retire. Has been a good VFL player but hasn't translated to the AFL for us unfortunately.

Henderson is a 50/50 for me. He's a depth option but didn't get near in it in a few AFL games. If we need to make space for additions I think he gets cut.

Culley should get another contract. Gets a chance to show his worth this week and has earned it with 2 huge VFL games in the last few weeks.

Melksham should get another year if he wants it. Is a fantastic mentor for JVR and Jeffo and can kick important bags.

McVee has one foot out the door in my opinion. Is a non-free agent so we should get a trade return from that perspective. However, is dissapointing as he has shown a lot in the last few years.

Brown is another tough one. I would lean towards giving him a one year contract, get another preseason under his belt and see how he goes.

Hore is 99% to be delisted. Has been cruelled by injury and seems like a great guy so this one hurts a little.

Sestan is another interesting one. If not for injuries I would say he would've had a debut by now. I feel like he probably gets another contract considering there is apparent interest around the league in him according to Fox Footy a few months back.

Woewodin is another difficult one. I think he has stalled in his development this year, and being kept out of the team and even the emergencies in a year of poor performance from the team is very telling. Probably ends up getting delisted, may get picked up in WA.

Campbell is also interesting. Is a great person and team player, who has seemingly pushed Verrall out of the number 1 ruck spot in the VFL. I feel he may get another year if he wants it unless he retires.

Fullarton is 99% to be delisted. Has also been cruelled by injury, had 2 games this year and did struggle to make any impact. A relevant example of our poor trading since 2021.

TMac. What a servant he has been for this team. Him playing next year is a two part thing. 1. It depends on whether he wants to continue playing. 2. It may also depend on what trades/moves we make. If we keep both May + Lever and add Derksen, he may not return. However if for example we trade Lever to North, I would be giving TMac a contract to get him to 250 games. He deserves it.

Verrall is another tricky one to gauge. I would be leaning towards a one year contract, however if our interest in Max Heath from the saints comes into fruition, they may lean towards cutting him lose.

So a little summary:

Retire: Billings, TMac?

Delisted: Fullarton, Hore

Leaning towards Delisted: Woewodin, Verrall, Henderson, Spargo

Leaning towards new contract: Brown, Campbell, Sestan,

Keep: Moniz-Wakefield, Melksham, Culley, Sharp

Trade: McVee (if needed)

How has Fullarton been cruelled by injury??

Pretty much played a whole season at VFL level last year and this year.

Lets just accept the fact that hes simply not good at all and injury has played no role in that.

Has had a lot of Hamstring injuries throughout his time at Brisbane and Us, which while he hasn't shown up to his potential, has still impacted him nonetheless.

Sharp is not out of contract, he got a 3 year deal when he came over last year. He is with us until 2027 at least.

If we can replace Hore and Fullarton with Derksen and Mihocek that'll be a good first step.

Happy to give TC another year for emergencies and guidance to developing rucks.

My changes at the end of the year.

Delisted: Henderson, Fullarton, Woewodin, Verrall, Brown

Retired: Billings, Hore, McDonald?

Contract offer (one year deal): AMW, Sestan, Campbell, Culley, Melksham

Trade: Spargo, Laurie, Lever? Oliver? McVee?

Tmac should go to Adelaide or Bulldogs or something. Still a quality defender.

I'd happily offer him a 1 deal. Something also tells me he would just be happy to retired at the same time.

I think he's been unlucky not to be selected many times this year. Could probably get more opportunity elsewhere and one last crack at another flag for any team desperate for a key back.

In the video of Culley's debut announcement yesterday, it was great to hear the young players praise Melky and Tmac for their coaching and training standards.

Both are high quality individuals who have a lot to teach and coach our young players on. Both deserve an extra year, but that decision will come down to them.

At the end of the day both have young families that have had to share their time with the football club, and both have physical challenges. It wouldn't shock me if they retire, given their chances of another flag are slim.

But there are half a dozen players I am getting rid of ahead of them.

Jaded , I very much doubt that is the case.

This will be yay or nay by the club.

I think both should be retained ... we'll see.

And ditto. I’ve posted this several times. How can Tim Lamb still keep his job ? I’d rather than invested in the youth with picks than bring in these trades. The Mcadam trade is a shocker. We gave up a future 2nd round which was then used by the Crows to get Alex Neal-Bullen. What a deesaster!!!

Laurie being contracted for next year but not being played all year despite being fit sums up a lot of what is wrong with our list management.

Laurie should be played in the VFL as half back or small high half forward conduit connector IMO he’s not going to make it at AFL level on ball but you need to try everything before delisting him. He has good disposal by foot

he's just not quick enough, either by foot or in his decision-making

based on what i've seen of him at vfl level this year, and in previous years, he's a list clogger

giving him three years two years ago was a terrible piece of list management

I think Laurie will be a good role-player at another club as a half-forward/mid. Goody clearly doesn't rate him which makes his contract extension last year for two seasons seem strange.

spargo

Oliver

Petty (if they won’t put him down back again)

Langdon - 30 start of next year

Delist

Spargo if no interest

Kbrown

Woewodin

Laurie

Mcadam

Players to look at even for depth

Buku

M Rosas

W Brodie

Erasmus

A Davis

Flanders

M Ramsden

Hustwaite

You've left out Fullarton who is a key position forward who plays like a HFF and lacks presence. Laurie and McAdam can't be delisted as they both have another year of their contracts. So they can only be traded it's a very bd look when you delist players whilst on contract.

Fullarton I forgot to write and couldn’t be bothered editing but yes another that should be gone. Laurie and McAdam still go for me as they can be delisted even on a contract if both parties agree which surely they do

AFAIK Laurie doesn’t have to consent, we can delist him if we want, but we must pay him what he’s owed for next year.

We can’t really afford to be paying Laurie whatever his contract allows for next year to have him play VFL or whatever.

It’s terrible list management IMO.

I don’t understand why he isn’t given a run given he’s in contract. The season is dead. What is there to lose.

Probably just cheap depth given we have spent big elsewhere.

this caught my attention only because in a players interview from preseason either this year or last everyones answer to the fastest hands or players hands you'd most want at the club was Bill, i was expecting everyone to say clarry but bill was the players vote almost unanimously.

given his size the spargo high HF role always had to be the one he was groomed to but for some reason despite other players like a woey jumping all across the ground around him laurie's magnet has been glued to teh centre square despite such a log jam ahead of him, maybe he was stubborn and said no im a mid ill play mid? but as u say, he was not at all close to a game at his last contract so the 2 years of the same practice has expectedly yeilded the same results
