The last kick aside, are people really thinking Gawn was our best?

Edit: for context, I thought May was streets ahead of anyone else.

+6 May - back to his best.

+5 Gawn - dominated ruck battles.

+4 Turner - elite level today.

+3 Oliver - tigerish in midfield.

+2 Petracca - but still not at full power.

+1 Fritsch - for his goals.

-1 Fritsch - for his many costly errors.

And a very special mention to Langers for irritating and blotting out Nick Daicos.

Was a really good effort but too many basic errors were the difference. If only we had a couple of players with the composure of Sidebottom and Pendlebury.

Would’ve liked to have found a spot for Trent but his disposal was iffy at best today

4 - maximus Gawnski

3 - Christian Petracca

2 - Daniel Disco Turner - what a gun

1 - Bayley Fritsch- should have won it

Then Lingers, Pickett, Bowsa, Riv, Spaz, Chin and Bison. Boys had their chances and pushed the pies right to the final seconds of the game. So disappointing and felt like we were screwed.🥲

3AW went Howe, J Daicos, Pendlebury, Gawn and Langdon in that order. Nice to see Langdon get recognised for what was a very disciplined and team oriented role.

6 - May

5 - Oliver

4 - Turner

3 - Langdon

2 - Gawn

1 - Pickett

Thought May was easily our best. Also thought Howe was BOG by an absolute mile so what would I know!?!?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
