I can’t for the life of me see us beating the Pies.

If we beat them, this will easily be one of Goodwin’s greatest wins.

As much as I hate the collywobbles they are playing good footy and most notably KICKING STRAIGHT.

If we are any chance we can’t kick 7.21 again, needs to be more like 21.7. Goodwin on 360 said something like we have been working on our goal kicking which worries me because imagine how much worse we would be if we weren’t practicing!!!

Fingers crossed but not holding my breath.

Watching that game last week. It looked like we were trying to play an uncontested game, which if it was to stay fresh for KB is a stupid idea and goes against what Darren Burgess preached.

Also after listening to Goodwin speak about Petracca 1 year onwards. I’m now worried Tracc will be over awed by the significance of this game and be distracted.

I’d love to see Tracc come out and play with some aggression like he did against Carlton last year when he went Ken (Cameron 04 pre shoulder injury) Bruce.

Photos from training today show them in blues and whites, with the blues looking like the senior team.

TMac, Laurie and Jefferson all seen in blue.

Culley, Campbell and Howes all seen in white.

Perhaps some insight into selection?

That logic would hint at Tmac going back, Turner fwd with Jefferson and Laurie holding his spot.

Speaking of Burgess did I hear on the radio that the Crows have won all last quarters this year bar one? They're shaping up well

Jnr Jnr Jnr have you not heard . We're in good hands .......

Purely coincidental that our fitness drops after someone leaves and another teams betters when same said person joins.

Co- incidence actually means two things happening at the same instance etc. Nowhere does anything dictate they must be mutually independent. ( often a misconception)

We haven't been the same have we ....

We better bring the heat otherwise we will be blown away by the pies.

Even if we do manage to apply maximum pressure I doubt we will be able to convert our chances.

I’m not looking forward to this game

Well...personally Im looking forward to see how we go against the best team in it. Im just not expecting a win.

If we get within 5 goals of the pies there would be a lot of positives to take away.

It’s our biggest test, our form is pretty good barring last week. I get the feeling we won’t be leaving anything out there.

Watching the Hawks last night gave me a bit of comfort as it showed that if a team brings the pressure they can match it with anyone. Hawthorn has been well down for a number of weeks now (the Suns game probably the outlier) but against the Dogs their pressure and discipline was formidable.

Has our fitness dropped?

We’ve actually run out games well the last 6 weeks, we’ve largely got a full list bar 2 impact injuries. I don’t think it’s our fitness holding us back. That’s not to say I wouldn’t take Burgess back.

Of all stats, pressure rating is now by far and away the most reliable indicator in terms of the correlation between winning that stat and winning a game.

The real challenge for teams is its simply not possible to bring elite pressure for more than say 3 or 4 weeks in a row. Tops.

If Jefferson is one of the inclusions then he needs to be left in the senior squad for the next 6 weeks.

Let him Find his feet at AFL level and gain some good experience along the way. I too would like JVR to also be brought in eventually because we need to get them use to forward synergy as a duo at this level.

On form Jefferson gets a game but we need a back up ruckman so I think JVR will get the nod. I’d be surprised if they are both bought in. Personally I’d be bringing in TMac for Lever but that’s unlikely.

Biggest test ? It's our Grand Final ( the only one we're getting remotely close to this season )

Do or Die stuff.

Let's see if anyone actually takes real pride wearing the jumper.

Not expecting miracles ,just decent footy and some semblance of accuracy.

Too much ??

We have demonstrated on a few occasions this year our best is as good as the top teams.

We are capable of beating the pies .

The question is which Melbourne will turn up.

We will have to work even harder to compensate for our atrocious goal kicking.

Win this and we are a small chance of playing finals again. But only just. And of course, lose it , and it's all over.

Huge game. I hope the boys really show up and give the pies some stick although if Viney and AJ aren't playing, I'm not sure who will do this.

I also think this game will determine in part, Goodys tenure. I think missing finals two years in a row will be the end of him and probably good for the club. I find his stubbornness frustrating and not an asset.

Petty kept as a fwd is a prime example. He just isn't. Maybe a handful of good games there, but he doesn't average more than a goal a game. I think it's 0.7. That's nowhere near good enough.

Let the bloke excel where he always has. In the backline. Credit to Goody for trying him there but now it's become a mistake and one he keeps doing. Own it Simon. Change it.

Let's play Turner or May fwd and see if we can kick a big score. And before anyone cites the Swans and lions games that was down to KP and JM.

I mean it's not like we have a great deal to lose at this point in time. We need a fwd line that can take a least a few contested marks. Petty isn't strong enough in his legs to do this. Fritta takes high marks or goals out the back.Melksham on the lead.Jvr the same.

And given our penchant for bombing the ball in so much, a strong player that can take a pack mark is a necessity.Snd while Max can, he can't be everywhere and he's not the most accurate set shot.

So please Goody mix things up.

Yes we can't expect Max to fly solo and Jvr is the best back up. Maybe Jeffo as the sub as he definitely sounds like he deserves a go from the reports I've read.

Form must be rewarded. It's hard because Fritta has improved a little and Jm stays. Can Jvr play in a defensive capacity? Why we didn't find a proper back up for Max that can play forward after we lost Jackson and then Grundy is a mystery. I also think Jvr being forced to play in the middle has impeded his ability as a fwd at times.

We went from twice having two premier rucks to just one. And despite Max being as fit as he is, it must take a toll on him. The club has been caught napping in this department.

I think we’ll win and if we do get beat it’ll be less than 4 goals, 2 of them late.

I hate it when DL'ers use four words when one will suffice -'learnings'.

I think it's a good time to evaluate whether we think we (as supporters, not the FD) would go far in finals. For me this is a development year, rather than pushing for the finals. Thus problem of disappointment and expectation solved! 😀

It's interesting that since 2022 we've been more than competitive against Brisbane at the GABBA which theoretically should be considered the hardest assignment in AFL football given the extreme talent and weather at Brisbane's disposal. We're 2-2 with a thumping win (2022), an inspirational win when we were $4.50 under dogs (2025), an extremely gallant and close loss when were out of form (2024) and the other game we came rattling home for a 9 point loss (2023).

And yet against Collingwood....

Both Jeffo and JVR to be inclusions for Monday IMO

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
