I hate the pies with a passion but their kicking skills were sublime against the Hawks

They will slice and dice us

JVR in for AJ i suppose

leave the rest of the team as is. its just shuffling the deck chairs on the titanic anyways given we can't kick for toffee

Outs: AJ, Lever & Oliver

Ins: JVR, Tmac & Viney

Another no-show like today would truly make us mince for the Pies.

The Johnson experiment is surely over. He has everything except talent.

Lever is under-cooked but even that does not excuse his woeful performance today.

Presumably Viney and either JVR or Jefferson will come in to shuffle the deckchairs on our rapidly sinking ship.

If Viney is still not ready, genuine fears for his career will not be far away.

Sad thing is if we had won today as expected there would have been real hype and an exciting buildup to the KB clash but as per usual we couldn't hold up our end of the deal.

Collingwood are primed for a record number of out the back and Joe the goose goals.

The guide dog association has offered to help with next week's game. Training with guide dogs in front of goal. Next week's score to improve and likely to be 7.24

This, but Viney also in, Laurie out (Sharp sub). Probably JVR in for 2nd ruck duties. If his hands are still made of cement, then straight back to Casey.

Lever is probably one of those players who will never be dropped, but after his 2 return games he really should be. Tmac’s form has been way better than what Rick has offered up in the 2 games (and last 3 years tbh).

If Lever actually got a sustained run at Casey taking gimme intercepts, it might do him the world of good.

Personnel isn't going to matter if we bring that level of pressure/effort. Doubt we go for drastic changes.

Out: Johnson, Laurie

In: JvR, Viney (if fit)

Tough on Laurie given the state of the game when he was subbed in but he is last in and first out most likely.

Injury watch on Melkshams' shoulder perhaps?

AJ to get two weeks, straight swap for jVR. If Viney is fit then he comes in to replace probably Laurie.

DO we roll the dice and put Jeffo in? Melks and Fritta did OK, except for their goal kicking……

Won’t matter - we have to defend like we did for most of the day and then take our chances the other way. When we defended poorly early, they piled on 6 goals. They scored sporadically after that - but when we kick 1.12 that is all they needed to do.

Type of player I disliked playing with. Lot of possessions but never found a man. Plenty like that in Junior footy. They win all the awards and get drafted without any one caring or noticing they can’t kick or take an overhead mark. Happy to be proven wrong but again today he had an opportunity to make a valuable kick and he couldn’t do it.

If the Saints match was very like us, then running Collingwood very close (and nailing shots from everywhere) is also very much like us.

I am terrified of what the Pies will do to us on KB. I haven’t been able to watch them play since that terrible violent act by that thug against Gus.

I am in the unfortunate situation being married to a passionate Pies supporter who will expect me to either go to the game with him or watch it together on the TV.

7 goals and 21 behinds

It’s quite the skill to kick so many behinds 😂

Sharp was horrible today, has to make way for Viney.

He's been horrible in every full game hes played. Folks on here get so blinded by his occasional sum cameos every now and then.

Hes a sub par VFL standard player.

Our forwards would probably trip over the dog.

He's a decent sub role player.

I think we pulled the wrong rein today with Laurie as sub and Spark as a starter. I thought that before the game too.

That said, Laurie was horrible when he came on.

  • GAMEDAY: Western Bulldogs

It's Game Day and the Demons will be running out on the field with a new Head Coach, albeit a caretaker, for the first time in 3,060 days when they face the Western Bulldogs at the MCG today. What do you want to see from the Demons in the first match of the Post Simon Goodwin era?

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
