Too early to start a Road to the Finals post?? 🤣

We need to win 11 from 16… that’s winning 2 from every 3 games…

Sportsbet have us at $3.

Yes.

We need scalps before any talk of finals are brought up in any logical conversations.

That friend who shows you the final season of Game of Thrones and then suggests binge watching the rest from the start.

Even if they turn out to be right, it isn't a rational decision to trust their taste.

Can’t see us not making finals and then taking the flag from 6th

Elimination final V Carlton W by 56

Semi Final V Hawks W by 34

Preliminary V Collingwood W by 29

GF V Geelong W by 7 after being 56 points down late in the second.

Only having kids would top that 4 weeks. That’s rolled gold!

Got a mid-season target for option B, wouldn't mind a nice follow-up in September. I'll let you know how it compares.

Let’s play 4 Quarters of Good Solid Football first.

Right now we are a V12 engine running on 7 Cylinders

Much tuning and balancing to be done

Geez this is peak Melbourne

Like may carrying on about smoking the pies after the second straight sets

Oh god, I’d almost forgotten about that

Happy with what you've seen though over the last fortnight, SWYL? At least in snippets...?

He was right but for Maynard on Brayshaw.

Happy with the wins, of course

But our final Quarters have been bog ordinary, for some reason

Good sides will take us apart if it doesn’t improve

Is such a dichotomy:

We want a team that puts itself in a position to compete in finals every year;

Vs

Let's take it one week at a time.

Personally I think we have way underachieved the season to date and have more upside than alot of the teams above us. The V12 firing on 7 cylinders is a reasonable analogy. Trac and Clarry are better than current form. The past few weeks we have seen what happens when Kossie, Max and Vines start to fire.

We will need things to go right injury wise from here and a few young players like JVR etc to stand up and take the next step, but if that happens, I think we are better than alot of the teams currently above us.

Who knows.

We have played one very good game, and two good games.

It’s not a case of ‘one week at a time’ it is more ‘ask me how we look in one weeks time’…

I dont ever see much about Ben Crowe on here. He is the best mindset coach in the business and that's what we need.

Goody, Clarry and Trac will only benefit from him.

We won the first 10 games straight in 2023 but that's not how you win a premiership look at Sydney last year.

Peak at the right time with the right mindset and do damage

didn’t we win the first 10 games in 21 and 22?

My understanding is Crowe came in for the review and he's no longer around. Happy to he corrected on that point...

And @Wells 11 , we won the first 9 in 2021 (we lost to Adelaide by a point in Round 10 from memory), but won the first 10 in 2022.

  1. Beat the Eagles.

  2. Clarry & Petracca play a 3 quarter game on way back to playing four quarters! Versus half a game!

  3. JVR play competitive footy and kick some goals!

  4. Play with aggression!

  5. Then worry about the next week!

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

  • POSTGAME: Richmond

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
