People are quick to write off JVR. It was only 15 games ago that he ripped a first half apart with 4 goals against quality opposition in McGovern and Barrass. And he was talked about within the AFL community as being one of the rising star key forwards of the league. I don’t subscribe to the theory they you can go from a rising star to a dud overnight, at aged 22.

JVR clearly replaces Fullarton.

Turner needs to come in to the defence and move Windsor further up the ground or even to Casey to work on his deplorable kicking which is resulting in turnovers.

One of Sharp, Kolt or to a lesser extent Windsor to be omitted.

Maybe Melksham for Fritta??

If we’re a bit off for this one, West Coast will roll us, irrespective of whatever they dish up tomorrow evening. It’s a tough road trip to Perth.

Goodwin rarely makes lots of changes after a win, but with about 28 players who could easily get a game, and WCE's tall forwards, some changes will be made this week.

Windsor's kicking has been terrible, Kolt not getting too much of the balll, Fritta lacking energy, McVee underdone, May looking sore, slow and proppy (yet playing his role), Sharp unconvincing most of the time.

Howes, Adams, Sestan, JVR, have all shown something at times in the VFL

Turner and Melksham offer a lot - can we squeeze them in?

AJ and Fullarton don't look AFL standard

Campbell offers nothing as a forward.

In short - I have no idea!

I reckon we collectively overthink the changes when our coach prefers only making simple ones. Goodwin almost never makes changes that alters the structure/balance of the side, especially after a win. I thought McVee replacing Howes was obvious and in line with the coach’s MO, but I got a lot of challenges on it in the pre-match thread.

Fullarton is the obvious weak link and JvR is the logical replacement. Melksham to me is clearly still best 22 and someone who plays a similar needs to make way. The only real options here are Sharp or Fritsch.

I don’t think anyone else will be looked at.

West Coast are rubbish sorry. They've just recorded the worst 6 game stretch clearance numbers in the modern era, twice as bad as any other team. Also twice as bad as being scored from stoppage as any other team. Our mids, yes. been struggling from stoppage all season, but if they cant beat the worsr team over the last 25 years in this 'space' you can forget the 'learnings'. We are nowhere near that bad and should bully them and have plenty of first use. Im not certain Mcqualter knows what he's doing with personnel and game plan at all.

The only concern is Jake Waterman. Harley got his usual highlight reel hype at last years match, but it was Waterman's 13 marks (5 contested, 6 inside 50) who was unstoppable He's one of the few forwards that can beat May at his own game. We need Turner to be ready. Allen is no mug either and due to have a game.

Spargo was good. His press was excellent. Didn't get enough of it, but was a contributor in the forward half.

For those who didn't watch Casey AJ kicked 2 goals 5 behinds. It should have been 5 goals two.

Opposition was woeful but it's a reference point.

I think we need to be more daring with our sub and make a tall the sub.

Sharp rarely gives more than the player he replaces.

With a tall we can manage May and Gawn a lot better

Absolutely agree DemonOX. I member seeing he'd had something like 3 touches when he kicked his goal and thinking he's been involved in alot of our forward 50 pressure to that point without being rewarded with stats. He brings alot more than his stat sheet would suggest and I reckon he will start to have some real breakout games soon.

Spargo, pretty remarklable he's an AFL predominant forward who's kicked just 1 goal and 4 goal assists in his last 11 games. Average of just 3 score involvements.

Its not like his tackle or pressure numbers are off the charts to compensate. His ceiling is just too low for that position but his floor is def higher than anything else we have, therein lies the problem really.

Fullarton out forever. I think everyone knows that. Bad luck Tom, I'm sure he's a nice guy and worked hard for this opportunity, and he got a heck of a lot further than any of us did, but that was pretty brutal to watch. JVR in. Easiest decision Goody will ever make.

Steven May is an MFC legend and clearly still in the best 22, but I think his days as the AFL's premier defender are over. Lynch gave him a bath. So I think we need to beef up the tall stocks down back a little. Meanwhile, Turner looked excellent in defense against the Dockers and is versatile. I hope he comes back in, maybe at the expense of Fritsch.

Tholstrup's form on paper looks poor but I think there's some intangibles that work in his favour. I don't know, we just look more desperate when he's out there. And we haven't had a real antagonist/goofball in the side since Tomas Bugg in 2017. It's probably not enough to keep him in the side permanently, but for now, I want to lean towards playing him.

Fritz will stay in I am not a fan over the last 18 months but 2.2 goals is as good if not better than anyone on the list at present. I think they will rest Turner for another week. In Milkshake and JVR. Out Sharp and Fullarton, both are not senior level talents. Goodwin doesn't normally make many unforced changes to a winning side.

Kolt has had a few very impressive moments of class (albeit from stuff all possessions) from his 2 games this year

I am very surprised people want him dropped or subbed. Let him build into the year....I reckon long term he's a midfielder though, makes great decisions with his hands on when to give or not give the footy off, and rides tackles really well for a teenager!

Id be keeping Tholstrup and Fullarton, they need exposure and West Coast are an appropriate opponent. ie not Collingwood. Rest Salem, HE was good in last 2 games and knows the pace and intensity required so managed.

Id have JVR as forward only as suggested above with a licence to roam Jeremy Cameron style.

AJ would be in the side to add aggression to forward line and relieve Max.

Maybe Disco back to defence. Fritta to forward line. Jeffo to take the role if he doesnt perform, but id prefer he gets up for the bigger games. Chandler a bit unfortunate as he does need to keep his desire and pressure, plays same role as Spargo who needs the extra exposure this game and maybe replaced by Chin for Collingwood after a rest managed again.

Rivers rotate with Tholstrup or through mids (Viney) if needed. Sparrow rotates with Tracc. Langford rotates with Oliver and mids. Lindsay rotates with Windsor Spargo. PIckett rotates with this group as well. Langdon goes all day but can be included in rotations with Windsor Lindsay etc.

Id have Petty as sub and bring him on as forward or defence if needed to replace injury or identified weakness. Ie Turner, May, AJ, Fullarton, or Fritsch

B: Turner, May, McVee

HB: Tholstrup, McDonald, Bowey

C: Langdon, Oliver, Windsor

HF: Petracca, van Rooyen, Spargo

F: Fullarton, AJ, Fritsch

FOLL: Gawn, Viney, Pickett

meth coke's trio of talls up front is neither here nor there - if we win the midfield and stop them getting the ball i50 under zero pressure then a lot of the effort is done in terms of beating them

i'd personally be bringing in one of jvr or aj for fullarton, and melksham for tholstrup, with the latter moving to sub in lieu of sharp, but i'm not convinced both of melksham and fritsch can play i50, as they don't bring the pressure that tholstrup has done since he returned to the side
