Gee our last quarters leave a lot to be desired, would love to see us just smash a team in the last quarter for once. Don't think i'm off the reservation in saying that questions have to be asked about our fitness team.

nonetheless, 4 points is 4 points.

Also the debate is over, Max Gawn is the greatest ruckman to ever play the game.

Great win! Much improved performance across so many facets.

Although I think Fullarton would shirk a contest with Josh Schache

Our percentage pre game was 65%

This was a chance to improve. Anyway we need the next two to get off life support

I’m one of those who cares about habits. I care about %, I care about being as high on the ladder as possible. I care about Essenscum getting a lesser pick. I care about learning to stomp on teams when you have the chance.

Arrogant coaching by Goodwin for taking Gawn off.

I saw it differently dd and thought it was good to give him a rest.

Even though our last quarter was pathetic especially without Gawn we had won the game and didn’t think it was an arrogant move and I am not a goody fan.

Gee we have a knack of picking up tall forwards who have no physical presence whatsoever. Fullerton, Schache, Weideman to name a few.

Who were all those posters who wrote off Salem?

Are they still around?

He is so important to our back 6 and controlled the game tonight

5 day break was always going to be a factor. Reflect on that before criticising the last 10 too much

Is it mathematically possible that a win in round one in a very tight game v Gws could have seen us with other permutations allow us to be in the top 8 and if so wth?

Take the win, but Jeebers….

I don't know how anyone can dispute it. It felt like we laid 3 tackles in that last quarter.

Top 5 worst games of AFL footy I’ve ever seen. From a Dees perspective, we’re very very ordinary of course, but without the best ruckman the game’s ever seen, I think we might be the worst team in the league. At the moment. Things can improve no doubt. And they will. Hopefully. 71,000 at the G, and they all should feel robbed.

What are you talking about?

If we played how we played against North tonight, we would’ve lost by 100. Easily. The difference between how we’ve played against North/ESS/GC/Geelong is massive.

I care about getting a win and building. Resting Gawn for next week

Also I care about enjoying footy and enjoying a win

Richmond also had a 5 day break, in fact they had 6 hours less recovery than us.

So what your “reflections” on that?

I guess we'll find out?

Happy with the points but it's becoming a worrying trend. I dont need to bury teams every week but at least breaking even in the last would have nice.

I always have more confidence when I know our side can run out games, it gives you a chance.

A win is a win is a win though.

Kolt's decision making in traffic is very good for a guy who has played 12 games

Get him in the guts

I was disappointed Max went off, but he was heroic again tonight and needs every rest he can get.

With the game won, imagine how Goodwin would have been crucified if he had stayed on and copped an injury.

The fact is that some of his teammates need to look hard at themselves for downing tools in the final minutes.

You have NFI

Am I in the game day thread? Miserable bunch you lot. After five horrible losses I’m taking wins in any way shape or form at the moment. And that… was a pretty easy one.

A lot will be rightly said about Gawn’s performance but Jake Bowey being an elite AA defender wasn’t on my 2025 bingo card.

Last quarters are a worry. Fullerton is not a worry because we’ll most likely never see him again at AFL level.

Potentially 3 in a row next week and then Hawks are very gettable at the G. I’m choosing to believe! Lessgo

Why should Gawn being off the ground result in the our players slacking off their efforts?

Also what has Gawn sitting on the bench to do with some pathetic Melbourne turnovers hitting Richmond players on the chest?

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
