it will be their first afl match together tomorrow

my question is - do we expect them all to be future midfielders, or will one, two, or more of them end up being different types?

fwiw, i see langford as the only 'pure' midfielder of the bunch

windsor and lindsay can play outside as well

and tholstrup is more of a question mark in terms of his main role

I feel like long term Kolt will play that hybrid Chad Warner type of roll where it kind of depends on game state, hit the nail on the head for the rest of it though. Could also see Leb playing a fair bit of time inside as well once the body matures.

Once we get H. Reid, the new midfield will be complete.

My 2 cents

Langford can be a pure mid....or play extended minutes forward (Trac)

Tholstrup to succeed Viney as a physical defensive mid, but with a bit more footy IQ and versatility

Lindsay reminds me a bit of Walsh but with a neater kick, think he will play everywhere including inside, had massive tackle numbers in his draft year

Windsor more likely to remain a winger/flanker

Windsor should definitely play in the middle. Need his speed and class to burst away from stoppage. Completely wasted at half back right now.

Seems to be as/more important to have the speed off the backline these days but time will tell

Bit concerning he isn't getting more of the ball in defence at the moment but we don't know how much his recurrent foot infections have hindered him

Langford will be a pure inside mid with some time resting forward as an aerial threat.

Lindsay will be an inside/outside midfielder, has more versatility and can play wing and half back. His u18 year as a centre square mid was outstanding.

Tholstrup I see as a hybrid mid/half forward.

I'm not convinced Windsor will be a centre square player but will be an elite winger in my view.

Love the idea of these guys playing together and being the future, some great talent and characters in there, Kolt in particular for character.

Hope we can keep them all and they invest in the club, I think they are a great exciting future prospect and to be there for a bit with a few of the greats of our current team, albeit finding some form, would be very tasty.

I haven’t seen him play but hope Culley can play a physical role there as well. Windsor is a winger , leave him there, make the MCG wing his.

Windsor, McVee, Langford, Rivers, Pickett.

Kolt hasn't shown anything to suggest he'd be up to it IMO.

Kolt looks a little like a deer in the headlights. He just needs to calm that energy as he’s a pretty good disposer of the ball.

Kolt provides a manic level of energy around the ball that we don’t currently have.

I envisage him taking Sparrow’s spot, I’d love it to happen quite quickly.

Lindsay reminds me a little of Luke Hodge, just go wherever he’s needed at the time - not quite as good aerially but more agile at ground level. Could have a lot of impact through the middle and at Half Back. He’s also a very keen tackler which is a huge bonus.

Windsor could potentially play a very attacking, old school, centreman role. Be the linking man between the arcs with lots of burst.

Langford will end up with a Cripps type role I think, just burst forward with a deadly left foot. He’ll get sharper over time and we will absolutely love him

I guess there is always time for some dreaming of the future.

It really will be an interesting watch tomorrow - how the next gen stack up. Hopefully not a Watts on Queens B’day scenario - but there is some talent on display. Suspect we will still get smashed, but just maybe this will be a day we look back on and say this is when it all began. A bit like that Hawthorn game in the rain 8 or 9 years ago. Go Dees.

Been a while since I’ve seen his draft highlights, but I remember at the time thinking Kolt was giving Paul Chapman vibes (role / impact wise).

I’m excited with our four youngsters Windsor, Tholstrup, Langford and Lindsay all offer a point of difference for the team and could indeed be our four musketeers when you add ,Spaz (in a different role), Kozzie, Rivers, Bowey, McVee, Van Rooyen, Disco and Jefferson that is a solid start to a regeneration of the team. I’m looking forward to seeing how this group play out plus we have another 6-8 young players that may or not make it.

All 4 show a lot of promise but we need to develop them well

Currently they've walked into an environment where our senior players and experienced players can't (or won't) adopt a new game plan (offense)

So my concern is that unless our senior players lift their game (pronto) these 4 kids could end up in a minefield trying to establish themselves

A big part of developing youngsters is having the right type of environment ... so our experienced players need to lift their game and start working hard for success. Starting from tomorrow against Freo

Set a good example for the youth coming through rather than work-to-rule

On Kolt, he looks to be a great athlete, very powerful and explosive but did lack composure last year. He'll play half forward and will be able to pinch hit in the midfield.

In a team where everyone looks they have eaten sour grapes before the game, his high energy and team focus will be so important.

We need a bit of spark and he can provide it.

I’d take Jackson in a heartbeat, if they want Koz he’d be my starting point.
