I've said it before and I'll say it again.

If we don't want to be left behind in a big way, Goody simply has to make some difficult but necessary calls on moving some senior players on in the off-season.

Oliver, Viney, Trac, Rivers. Their inability to execute skills at important times is unbelievably bad. Oliver was just wild today when he got the ball. No care. Viney, same story. Trac, same story. Rivers lacks serious composure too.

We need to make some hard calls at the end of the year, Oliver needs to go. I'd be willing to let Fritsch go and I hope May retires so Petty never plays forward again. Plus I think May is just not a great team mate.

Or Davd Neitz. PLEASE get somebody into Melbourne that will teach the fundamental skill of SET SHOT GOAL KICKING.

Everybody knows Melbourne suck at this. The current coaches know it. They've tried. The players know it. They've tried. All have failed.

We have dominated so many games since winning the flag in 21. So many games we've smashed the opposition with inside 50 counts and shots at goal. Only to lose through inaccurate kicking. A major component of this is set shot goal kicking. Melbourne's has been atrocious over the last 4 years. This year I hear it is the worst in the AFL.

Get Lloyd. Get Neitz. Or Get F@#*ed....

Time for Greeny to roll up his sleeves and teach the lads how to kick for goal.

He was a pretty straight kick back in the day.

The misses … Gawn (hooked it again, 2.13 so far , and a miss from 25 metrs out), Gawn a running shot from 20 metrs out, Petty miss from 20 metres dead in front, Clarry left foot snap from 15 metre out (no score) , Trac a snap from 20 metre out (no score), Sparrow a miss from on the behind line that is a goal probably scored 85% of the time … such basic errors SIX chances … four behinds … no excuses … none !!! No breeze , no moisture !!!

(Sure Ports two goals were umpiring favourable to Rioli & Georgiades)

Zero scoreboard impact is DEMORALIZING for players and supporters It’s depressing !!

AFLPA limit training time is what I’ve heard. The players would have to do it on their own accord and own money.

Reminds me of how Stuart Broad completely regressed as a batsman after he took a bouncer to the head. He was a handy tail end bat but then always looked scared at the crease after he got hit.

Sometimes traumatic injuries leave mental scars that never heal. Even though you're right and a similar injury may never happen to Trac again, he might never have it in him to go back with the flight.

As to our goal kicking though, i think its entirely a mental battle at this point. Chocco can do all the coaching work he wants but i think we need to be more mentally resilient in front of goal.

Since 2000, the most inaccurate side has been Gold Coast in 2018. They kicked 181.222 for a percentage of 44.9%

We are currently 152.179 for a percentage of 45.9%. A few more gross performances in front of goal and we WILL be the most inaccurate side this century so far.

But that stat kind of sugar coats on our ineptitude to convert goals.

It would be more helpful to check our numbers per inside 50 entries.

Don't be fooled by the behinds/goals ratio.

For example the goal per inside 50 entry average in the AFL is around 24%. Meaning AFL teams get a goal for every 4 entries to their fwd 50.

I am pretty sure we are not anywhere near that.

Add the atrocious goal kicking to the fact we gave up 2 x 50 metre penalty goals as well as a double goal . Given we fluffed a chance at the other end for them to sling shot it actually ended up being an 18 point play. Then add the 3 goals they got after the frikn siren. Too much sheer stupidity and [censored] standards running around this team.

Gawn, Petracca and Fritsch have all seemed to have gotten significantly worse. Not that Gawn and Trac were ever great but they'd generally be a 50/50 chance. This year they seem closer to 70/30. Fritsch used to never miss now he misses about half the time he goes for goal.

These three probably get between 5-10 shots between them every week.

It's an area of the ground we have never really shown any respect to or tried to fix. List management and coaches both to blame.

Who are you talking about?

We have drafted midfielders and half backs and traded in players who couldn't get a game at their previous clubs. The only real forward we have brought in is an injury prone McAdam who was never that great to begin with.
