There's nothing stopping us saying you can go if you can negotiate a new contract with club of choice, get us a first rounder and leave us paying nothing.

There must be a social experiment going on at Jeeeelong where they add a new [censored] each year until it all blows up on them

Journalists need to write stories. whether they are true or not isn't important.

its all going to be tomorrows toilet paper anyways so i wouldn't get too hung up about it, especially in May

Let's wait and see what develops around trade time. I can definitely see scenarios where clarry is traded. Whether it will happen is another thing entirely though.

exactly if he goes to geelong he will spiral with those two [censored] and the others who encourage bad behavior

Are Geelong looking to do a spinoff series of One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest?

Maybe it's because I have so many fond memories of him (namely the goal in the GF) but I still have hope for him remaining at the Dees and getting back to close to his best. He's clearly struggling with his own demons right now and it's good the club is taking the approach to show him care and support, unfortunately because of all the speculation from before the media want to beat the drums as loud as they can to create a story.

If he does come back this week please Dees fans if he has a mark, free kick, or anything where he's holding onto the ball give him a massive cheer. Or if he plays off the bench when he comes on give him a massive gee-up.

I get the feeling that he's feeling really hard on himself right now, and when you get into a dark place the only thing that gets you out is knowing you have people supporting you.

I think this playing him off the bench has put a HUGE dint in his confidence! You don't play bona fide superstars of the game Of the bench! I Don't like it one little bit and I doubt he does either!🤯

Exactly the reason I reckon he'd be top 5 in the Bluey at present.

You mean third behind Maxy and Trac and equal now with JV7. That’s far more realistic votes forecasting M—_9.

Gawn this morning on Radio

Clayton, there’s going to be stories about him until we are done,” Gawn said on Monday.

He made a very mature decision to spend the week off this week. It’s been a big eight weeks for him ... he felt like he was getting a bit overwhelmed and wanted a week off."

For his future, I am week by week with Clayton and the club. All I care is about him getting up for Hawthorn, doing it with a smile on his face, and whatever happens at the end of the year happens.”

Gawn said he and his teammates would continue to support Oliver, not react to weekly news items, knowing any decisions made now “could change by August”.

I’ve lived with a lot of these stories. Some stay, some go,” he told Mick in the Morning on Triple M.

It’s all a beat-up in May. I could make a decision … that could change by August. The May story is really nothing.

I’m going to pretend it hasn’t been written. Nothing to see here. He’s coming over for a sauna tonight.”

Oliver was given the rest after an “open dialogue” with the club but is expected to be available for this weekend’s clash with Hawthorn.

August? I was still hoping we’d be playing in September but clearly Gawny’s written us off 😝

If Clarry has had a really low week then he may well have had ideas about moving clubs. Maybe he thinks he's a burden or distraction on the club or his teammates and we'd be better off without him. Nobody knows what's going through his mind so why waste time speculating.

Within the MH sphere, a golden rule is to not make big decisions when at a low or even weakest point. Regardless of whether journalists are right or wrong, I hope Clarry's MH support network (I am assuming he has one) is advising him along these lines right now.

He may have spoken to someone his feelings about needing a fresh start, but being open like this is a long way from making that feeling into a decision.

If he does leave, it will be a sad day for me, but if he plays in another jumper I will always hold him in high regard for the footy he played in our jumper, and the part he played in helping us get a premiership.

Maybe Clarry knows that if he went to play for Geelong, the media would finally leave him alone and let him be 🙄

I've attended numerous Blueys. There's a strong emphasis on players carrying out their role. I'd reckon Salem and TMac might round out that top 5. We are only eight rounds in so ...

Well maxy didn't seem to worried.

If he wants to go this time then let him. He's not the same player he was 2-3 years ago.

On a side note apparently Steven may & morris went to high school together

I think Chandler would be leading, he’s been our most consistent.

Clarry got around $70,000 for last week's effort even though he didn't turn up.

McClure has revealed on Wide World of Sports he spoke with two people today who are close with Oliver, and shed light on the situation, both with Oliver and the club internally.

“I don’t want to speak on behalf of him,” McClure said. “There is clearly still a lingering element from Clayton Oliver, a level of frustration at not being traded to Geelong at the end of last year.”

Firstly I’m inclined not to believe Tom Morris. But to play along with this for a moment. If a manager were to negotiate a much lower salary for Clayton that is also a big loss for personally for them isn’t it, in terms of the cut I believe they get? How many player managers would be willing to do that?

Re player manager they have a duty of care to act in the interest of their client and I reckon building and maintaining a reputation for doing this would only be good for business.

To be fair a big chunk of that $70k was for being a 4x B&F winner and premiership player, that’s what got him the big contract

And that forecast he would be playing at that level or better until 2030

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
