Rachele is overpaid anyway.

Take future draft picks, reset our cap and find some players who can't get a regular game (i.e. Oliver Henry, James Leake, Lachie Sullivan, Finn Macinness, Wade Derksen, Luke Pedlar).

Dan Curtin and a F1. I'd even keep some of Trac's salary on the books for that

Spoke to him last Wednesday he’s just bought a house near Unley, seems well settled and he mentioned the Trac whisper's

Adelaide DESPERATELY need another gun mid or they’ll go nowhere. If they aren’t willing to give up something good to go forward, when a rare opportunity to grab an establishment star comes around, then they can go jump.

You don’t get to throw a bunch of mediocre picks at us and expect us to throw you a premiership winning Norm Smith medalist in return.

You deserve to fail if this is your attitude.

Could we do something like; pay 300k next yr and is decreases by 100k each year. which will sort of line up with Brayshaws contract we are still paying as well. If it means we get a better deal in terms of a pick or a player.

Adel - Rachele, Worrell or Michalanney

GC - Flanders, Humphrey, King

Hawks - Lewis, Ward or Mackenzie

obviously picks would be involved in some of these trades and King, Rachele, Michalanney are probs not going to happen, but start high!

You can do that for a better pick - that reduces the ability to retain players and recruit other players in future years.

Cap space is much more important than picks. It is our most valuable asset. Geelong haven't had a good pick for 25 years and have shown this.

BTW I doubt there will be a decent player in this trade. It will be a decent pick and steak knives.

To be honest I wouldn't mind Tex to be included in the deal on the basis we offer him 2 years and that it doesnt have any impact re pick compensation for Trac, e.g. Adelaide essentially throw him im for free.

Jesus H Christ I would.

I don't want that racist [censored] anywhere near my club.

The dees have done a power of work in recent years to make the club more culturally safe foe Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islands people.

We needed to as we were comimg from a long way back - but are now rue leaders in this space.

We were one of the first clubs to do a Recincilliation Action Plan (RAP) and are now onto our second iteration/stage of the RAP process (there are 3 levels of RAPs).

We were the first club to use our traditional name for the area we represent - Naarm.

Other clubs have followed as have organisations accross the community.

And i think the first club to create a indigenous jumper for Sir Doug Nichols round.

We have also made meaningful connections with the Aboriginal community in the Alice and NT.

By all accounts Wheels is doing a great job supporting our Aboriginal players.

And we have supported our Aboriginal players to remsin connectrd to family and country.

There is zero doubt in my mind that a big factor in Koz sticking with us and signing a long term plan is because of the club's commitment to cultural safety.

The very last thing we want or need is Walker at our club.

Personally, I hate this. Trac's probably my favourite ever MFC player. Watching him annihilate the Dogs on Grand Final day in 2021 and propel us into relevance was as proud a moment as most of us have ever had as MFC supporters. It stings, bad, that a knee from Darcy Moore could spiral this way so fast.

But equally, I applaud the club's maturity.

Same here. My family has Italian heritage, and Trac is a hero to us. I've got lots and younger relatives, and every single one of them has #5 on their back. That interview he gave after beating Geelong to win the minor premiership basically enshrined him as a MFC great. The talk about doing it for long suffering Melbourne supporters etc was music to the ears and hearts. His 2021 grand final was incredible. It sucks it's come to this.

We need to get something good for him. There's loonies on here or in the media complaining about his kicking or whatever, but fact is he's one of our best players and still a gun AFL player who tops score involvements across the league even when not at his peak.

Pay up or [censored] off. Media trying to set a low price.

Unlike last year, we're writing to members about it, and we're also allowing him to go explore in the public eye.

Go and find us a deal that is reasonable. If not, you can come back and front up to the leaders you're trying to abandon.

Isn't that Oliver's contract (i.e. indexed with TPP increases)? I've never heard of that being a Trac contract thing.

I believe it goes up with the TPP for Petracca as well.

Both teams just posturing ahead of what is probably going to be a tough negotiation with any deal that does get done coming very late in the trade period.

I think our outcome will be dictated entirely by our ability to convince Trac and the Crows we'd hold him to his deal.

they need Trac, that's not in question but if they think we want him out, they'll offer what they like be it a couple of picks and just not go much higher.

If they think we would, or would rather hold onto Trac i think you'll see a motivated Crows team get active in trying to figure out a deal, or get another team involved.

Gold Coast it is.

Flanders or Humphrey or get stuffed.

How bout a swap for Jed Walters??????

So given that Trac met with Melb the end of last week I would think that meeting wouldn't have included King given he would have been focused on the GF?

Just think it speaks volumes of his desire to exit if he hasn't even sat down with King.

It’s as if people are forgetting that petracca is on $1.5m per year for the next 4 years and currently no club will pay more than $1m. The only way that we are getting any picks/players in a trade is if we eat up $500,000 of his contract for the next 4’years.

If a club’s willing to pay Jack Silvagni $900k a season, I’m pretty sure a club would be happy to take over Petracca’s $1.3m a season 😆

  • Whispering_Jack changed the title to Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026

Lunatics for calling his kicking what it is?

Simply put, you can't be as effective in the modern game if you are not a good kick.

We need more XL or Langfords in the midfield.

Hopefully this but him throwing his mouth guard on the ground when he realises he should have stayed??? (Yes I’m aware crows will make finals and we won’t)

Benedict Cumberbatch Reaction GIF

This is the clubs moment. This how we get back into contention.

It is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

I just hope we go in with the attitude that we are willing to do no deal and let anyone interested come back next year and try again if we don’t get what we want

Hopefully he is going on quite the tour....Adelaide officially interested, Gold Coast Tour next?

Surely GWS or Sydney would be interested too?

Few Victorian clubs should be asking the question also.

We hold all the cards, especially if 3-4clubs show real interest, let th bidding wars begin.

Bye Christian!

Given Goodwin, Jordan and Grundy are all at the Swans, they'd have plenty of intel into Trac as a person, so it'll be interesting to see if they emerge as an option.

I reckon they're probably more interested in Curnow for the moment and will see how that plays out

What is Rachele actually like as a player? He seems to be the most talked about from Adelaide at least as a possibility and I know he's meant to be good...don't know that much about him though except he's been in and out of the side all year.

He's not injury prone is he like poor Mr. McAdam?

I’m a shallow woman so all I know is that’s he’s very pretty 😂

All Vic clubs will be BS offers like Geelong did with B.Smith. you know, the kind that includes well pay 50% of salary and will give you a F2 variety <<cough>> Geelong

I think people have been sucked into the "modern game" narrative by the media the past 1-2 years with a different top team winning. Kicking is not the be all and end all of the "modern game", nor is pure rebound from half back footy. Ability to win contest and stoppage is still the most important thing come finals time. In both prelims and the grand final, the teams that dominated clearance won the matches comfortably. Disposal efficiency had no bearing on result. Will Ashcroft just won back to back Norm Smith medals with a below average kicking efficiency. He, like his team, won because they smashed contest. The past handful of Brownlow winners have all been below average kicks.

Petracca is a more than capable kick and has shown that when playing in a team with good structures etc. At a team like the Hawks, he would win a Brownlow and another Norm Smith sadly.
