What a debacle. If he stays, he will be playing inside mid or not playing at all.

New role doesn't obviously include time spent at Revolver?

Journos breaking news

Oliver will be told of his role for next year which he may or may not like

Yep. That's why I like him already

WOW

Looks like we are on top of the leaks...

Wow I guess I retract my previous post suggesting people need to relax 🤣

Would hope that if we were paying up to $700,000 of his wage we’d be asking for a high pick in return

Genuinely surprised we seem to be open to moving on both Trac and Clarry in one off season

I’m not against it at it’s clear we’re not a contender in our current form, but geez you’d hope we’d have a plan to bring in some best 23 players in the next year or two or we’re going to be in for a lot of pain

Feels to me like King and perhaps Guerra have arrived and thought to themselves

“WTF is going on here?”

I know there’s many here who want to protect the club but it’s pretty damming evidence that the rot had set in. Goodwin’s dismissal looking more and more like an overdue decision.

Well there were signs... Like being named in Parliament and a 4 year suspension thingie...

I like it.

Blow the place up Kingy and reset again.

It does seem like that doesn’t it?

Reckon we’re paying the price for the club’s delusion that we’d be a contender in 2025

Still, I’d rather a club that’s willing to make the tough calls than not make any calls at all

They want to use Oliver off half back apparently… hope all he is doing is handballing to a running player. crikey

The meeting with Clarry is to outline expectations and his role. He’s all in and so is the coach on him.

Phew, everyone back to work….

Imagine if JUH and Oliver turn up for day one of preseason at Goldcoast with Tracc

You know journalists actually have to verify information through multiple sources. This is insanely conspiratorial.

The likes of Morris, McClure and the other grubs don't verify information they try to present rumours and opinions as if they are based on facts.

He wasn’t even there from memory so doubt it.

The fact that he didn’t poll a vote is the telling sign.

Wow I had hopes for Oliver but clearly those in the know don’t have much faith at all.

So either King wasn't honest about Oliver in his plans or they've completely botched it. Either way, this now seems untenable but also how are we meant to even get another team to bite even paying 700k a year?

Why not tell Clarry's manager to go drum up interest and we'll entertain anything they come back with. This seems like going the nuclear option after 2 years of failing the nuclear option.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
