Harsh on Langford?

Disappointed for Langford - would have thought this was a good game to start him on field and give him some genuine midfield minutes

Not convinced by Taj yet but there’s a role there for him with Windsor out

Not harsh, looked a bit star struck and slow when he was subbed on.

Will benefit with a stint in the 2s.

Surely Woewodin will be the sub. Rivers to play down back.

Geez, Billings wasn't putting on a smile in that video...

I rewatched the video and at the start you can see him smiling in the background

Pondered this acronym for a while;

Was it?

‘Weapon in Prometheus’ the latest video game being played by aspiring young AFL forwards in their free time?

Major drawback being you might fire. But you were more than likely to do penance for perceived failure. According  to some pundits on Demonland. eg Less than earth shattering performances in the pre-season pantomimes.

Chained to a rock with an ex-Eagle (Jack Darling’s your man?) visiting each night to rip out your liver. Seems a bit harsh, even for hardcore Demonland flagellants. Besides Jack is known to be averse to medical procedures.

Perhaps there’s a big ‘M’ adrift out there but personally never thought Disco as a big WIMP. Phonetically WIP could be mistaken for WHIP.

The season has barely started and candidates for DL whipping boy abound. In fact it’s building towards a Melbourne Cup field. Jack Billings, return of an old favourite. Kade’s a real contender, run ins has been a bit dodgy. They’re howling for Howes out there too. (Full Moon is coming). To be blunt, Sharp’s got his fans as well. Then there is Bayley and Bailey. No, not the confectionery manufacturers recently appointed to King Charles, but they’re getting it royally too.

Well, we await further developments. Like the injury/suspension list, it’s a work in progress.

That's a very comprehensive assessment.  Or maybe a critique.  I'm not sure which Tarax 😄

Regardless you nailed it at the end and more than likely did so from the get go

Absolutely stoked on the return of Spargs, even if it takes a few weeks for him to get back near his best.

Not surprised that Turner comes back, despite his preseason form. The coaches seem to love what he brings and I love the fact he can actually take a mark.

Not surprised Langford is dropped. Don't get me wrong, I think he will be a gun, but on preseason and round 1 form, others appear way ahead of him.

Langford looked way off it when he came on, a bit of time in the twos will do him no harm at all.

Wrapt for Spargo 😀

Too rushed for my liking, witb Spargy Dacks!

Surely Spargo is sub. Part of a game with Casey after no games for a year, only joined in training with the main group 3 weeks ago.

Spargo has trained lightly over the summer. He did not participate in any of the senior practice matches.

He played part of a VFL practice match last week on which we have no reports.

Amazed if he plays a full AFL game but who knows

Edit... Obviously I don't

Good luck to him

Nah. He played a full game last week and a half the week before. Looked good.

You have my vote pf, last year he was coming off injury. Rushed back in for the first game and never played again in 2024.

Great to have Spargo and Turner back. Gives us some options up forward

Time to take the next step young Disco.

Not really a fan of clubs making debutants the sub and I really don't like seeing the Kynan Brown treatment again. Langford is stiff.

Numerous posters have mentioned his slowness/stamina and lack of impact, so perhaps I need to watch the last quarter again, but he came on in awful weather conditions and had 5 reasonably effective disposals in 30 minutes. I thought he looked OK. At the very least I'd have liked to see him getting a proper game first.

If he’s not fit enough to play out the game he shouldn’t be playing making him the sub would make him less fit I bet he starts

Hmm! We will see but I struggle with the idea he is fit enough after such a long lay off.

If he wasn’t fit enough surely you’d play him at Casey to get a full game. The most sensible thing is to start him and sub him off if he runs out of gas. But really, they wouldn’t pick him if he couldn’t play 4 quarters.

He obviously has the potential

What’s with all the extra negativity OD? We’re only one round into the season.

Anything you are excited to see on Sunday?

Aside from a win of course

Everytime I saw him he looked like he played a full game prior to coming on. Maybe a run in the twos will do him good. If we win last week I reckon he plays. We are now on the verge of starting 0-2 if we don’t take north seriously so this game is really important for us not putting our heads down for the rest of the season. That’s me only guessing though.

In a team that struggles to kick winning scores why would you  make the highest scoring forward a sub?

Exactly.

Agree on Langford

Tough to start in Q4 on a cold wet day into a high intensity day, but he did look at a different pace

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
