Have you seen him play anywhere else?

No I haven’t. Only seen him on the wing

Final dress rehearsal before round 1.

I imagine we'll be fielding something close to our best 22 if Messrs Petracca, Viney, Gawn and co are all fit.

Dunno.  I wouldn't risk the trip to WA with players that aren't cherry ripe for a practice match.  You want to be building for finals.  Don't get me wrong, I despise freo and the recent losses have really stung.

I think he's been reported as playing at half forward too (Gator)

Same

It’s a practice game that doesn’t count for anything, don’t risk any injuries and give the kids a good go.

Just fleetingly.  In the sessions I've been to Langdon has lined up on the wing, half-forward and in the middle.

At a guess, 80% of the time he's been in the middle.  And looked great.

"There's... someone on the wing.... some, thing!"

I like this game against Freo as a preseason matchup. Just the sort of game we need to settle the dust and get match awareness into the players. Travelling over to WA is a good thing as well in my book as it gives the players a chance to bond and experience an away weekend.

There is going to be a lot to look out for in the game with the positional changes that we have looked at in the off-season as well as the development of the game plan.

The development of flexibility of some of the players is a good thing as long as we use it in matches to be proactive and get the game on our terms. I think, in the second half in particular, we will throw the players around a bit to have a look. I would not play Pickett but use this game to look at alternative forward structures. Possible a bit of a different look each quarter.

midfield is where it is won and lost and we will use this game to mix and match combinations that may relate to different match senarios. Petracca to play mainly as a mid particularly in the first half. Still think that he will have minimal time in the forward 50 this season.

not worried about the win just interested to see who we play where and how we play during the game.

I want to see:

  • pressure and intensity
  • cohesion and flair in the midfield and connecting forward
  • Team unity and togetherness
  • the players having some fun and working for each other

Really looking forward to seeing Langford and Lindsay again

Injured: McVee, Hore, Melk, Kolt, Kentfield (AmW, McAdam)

Spargo apparently playing vfl. Can’t imagine Fullarton’s getting a call up.

As per Kev: , Tmac, Campbell, Laurie, Jefferson, Mentha, Brown, Verrall.

So that leaves 29 possibly heading west.

FB: Howes May Petty
HB: Salem Lever Windsor
C; Billings Rivers Lindsay
HF: Langford Turner Tracc
FF: Chandler JVR Fritsch
Foll: Gawn Oliver Langdon
Int: Bowey, Viney, Sharp, Pickett*
S: Sparrow
Likely: AJ, Woey

Possibly: Adams, Sestan Culley, Henderson

Prediction: Henderson is 26th picked to play, Sestan travels, Adams and Culley play at Casey. But we’ll know more when the squad is announced or Casey play.

I’d like to see Adam’s get a run. It’s time he stepped up and we can give him half and let Lever have a rest.

A reasonable idea but I suspect our order of who comes off with be Gawn, Tracc and then perhaps some runners. And Adams had a good 3/4s against north

I didn't see Sestan, Culley or Henderson with the squad that remained on the Paddock when the others left.

Adams was training well today, had plenty of involvement and finished the run with those who I assume were off to Mandurah.

I’ll be trekking down to Mandurah to watch the game. Will any other Demonlanders be doing the same?

I intend to

Adams is from WA, it makes sense to at least take him over with the squad.

It's only a praccy, but this is a good early opportunity to send a message for 2025.

We were embarrassed by the dockers twice last year, I'm looking forward to a more positive mindset and display from the boys (not too fussed if we win - just want to see some interesting plays/something different, and pride).

FWIW, I think we are going to have an excellent year, and will display the fruits of the honest chats the boys have had, a few more of the kids on deck, and our culture shining through.

Praccy ain’t what these games feel like watching them they’re now full blown dress rehearsals so let’s how we can indeed put in a Good showing.

Perfect opponent and opportunity for sure!

I’d like to see him get a quarter or so. Play May for 3 quarters then put him on ice.

Play Kossie

B: Lever, May, McDonald

HB: Salem, Petty, Windsor

C: Sharp, Rivers, Langdon

HF: Petracca, Turner, Pickett

F: Fritsch, van Rooyen, Jefferson

FOLL: Gawn, Oliver, Viney

IC: Bowey, Sparrow, Langford, Chandler, Lindsay, Billings, Howes, Woewodin

EMERG: Henderson, Laurie, Campbell, Culley

Apart from Jefferson(forward line a bit top heavy) the first 22 pick themselves as you've got them.   The Pickett replacement and sub are the only other doubtful spots.

Jed Adams is returning back to the ground where he was recruited from South Mandurah (WA)/Peel Thunder (WAFL).  I'm hoping Jed will play some quality game time on Sunday. Did anyone attend the training session at Rushton Park this morning.

FOLL: Gawn, Oliver, Viney

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
