I wouldn’t worry Picket, the report said it was done at training on Friday afternoon.

Heard from a friend of a friend that, Traccs cracked ribs are on the minor side of things. They said, he said, "if it was in season he would be playing next week".

Negligence! (Alleged)

Trade demanded!! (By the media)

Apparently it takes 6 weeks for a cracked rib to fully recover, so if you go by that timeline he’ll miss the first practice match (V maybe North around 20 Feb??). This is on the assumption they go fully conservative on him.

Makes you wonder how and why May missed just one game with his fractured rib.

The first key to success for 2025 is to have a strong and healthy pre season. Already we have our best 2 players missing the entire January…

You can still train with a cracked rib….don’t panic…..yet!

No contact for 2-3 weeks to be on the cautious safe side.

He will be fine one would think.

Agree - this is a minor disaster.

My memory tells me Jimmy played on through cracked ribs, as a ruckman!

I don't expect the same from Trac but this is not a disaster.

Not good particularly when he was already behind the 8 ball fitness wise, was hard to see him been 100% this year before this, even more so now

I understand from 'sources close to the Club', Trac's been so far behind the 8-ball lately, he might start as a tagger in games—just to see if he can catch up.

Had the same thing going on with a girlfriend a few decades ago.

Just hope he is mentally strong enough now to be able to move forward and put his body on the line when needed... feel for the guy. I don't know if I could do it.. but il back him in. Just hope this is the very last time we hear the words petracca and cracked ribs again.

Nope not the Case, from what Ive seen from training sessions is that he was and is in great nick. My concern from what my source is, that the same rib as previous has been damaged! This is shizzen news if coŕrect!!🤯

Rib injuries are actually quite common in the arts of grappling.

I expect a lot of your relationships ended like that.

Many have played with broken ribs before, so it can be done.

If he is not peak fitness in the first half of the season, play him forward. He’ll give many a defender nightmares as a permanent forward.

I would not be averse to him playing in that role anyway, notwithstanding the current rib issue. A great weapon to have there in the post ANB period and it would give our younger mids starting with Trent Rivers the opportunity to blossom in a new look midfield.

Having broken ribs myself, the recovery is mainly about pain tolerance. You can do pretty much everything you would normally, but some things are just a lot more painful. Even things you wouldn't expect, like pull ups. It's an upper body exercise, but having your arms in the air pulls on your ribcage. Hurts.

So you can train and play but it'll be uncomfortable. Trac I expect it will be in the yellow bib at training for a bit so it heals fully.

Sneezing was the worst for me..

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
