Hey @Ghostwriter do you reckon the hold up with Judd is related to whether his partner is offered a new deal with our AFLW team?

Definitely would factor into it, along with other things. On Tuesday he said he can’t tell me the reasons the announcement has yet to be made, but he confirmed what he’s been saying all along. He’s not leaving the Dees.

Lily is also happy at the Dees and I can’t see why they wouldn’t offer her another contract.

I’ve checked in on this one multiple times and have been told that Judd is happy with the terms offered and has signalled to the club that he’s going to sign. Unsure why this hasn’t happened yet, there must be something else at play. The deal he’s offered repesents good market value for a player of his type. He likes the coach, happy in Melbourne. It’s all a bit strange and perhaps we will come to find out what the delay is or was in the next couple of weeks.

Just a thought but maybe we have to free up the $$$’s at end of season.👍😁

The coach may not be there?

According to Caro in her article this morning, McVee “looks likely to depart”.

This is one of the strangest situations I can recall. Every indication is that he wants out except for the complete opposite indication coming from@Ghostwriter and @Dannyz .

I wonder if it is coach based?

There’s got to be a lot of uncertainty behind the scenes at the minute, not exactly the time to be announcing signings

what a weird situation

someone somewhere is telling porkies (not GW or Danny z whom i trust infinitely more than the AFL media)

She is from Adelaide isn’t she? I have heard that Judd will be different colours next year

Yet actions speak louder than words.

It's McVee ( and/or management) that's not budging.

Had something amenable to sign all season...but hasn't 🤔🤔🤔

Club's a clusterthuck of harmony and success... what's not to like ??

Waiting for the dust to settle and scene become clear imho.

Dont blame him.

She's from Tassie but was previously on Port's AFLW list

and also the way he is playing....or not...

Just wondering what has changed to make him sign on,no position change, poorly coached and where all putting the boots in on a kid who's first 2 years have been very good and is this year coming off a big hammi tear and the pressures of a new contract with a team that is pretty ordinary

Disappointing that he’s departing according to Caro.

Let’s hope Howes and/or AMW can be an adequate replacement.

you lost me at “according to Caro” . I stopped listening to her after the tanking fiasco … as she has her own agendas. A lot of “in the know” posters here say he’s staying. Let’s see.

Clear choice...you blame the Club or the Maggot Circuit.

Put it in print...

my concern is that a lot of itk people are saying he's had a contract presented to him

some are saying he's yet to sign it, which is the concern

My feeling is that the clubs been in a long " after shock" of Brayshaw, Oliver and then Petracca which has manifested itself in losing in unimaginable ways since 2023. My instinct without knowing anything at all is that the loss to Stkilda was the clear out we needed and the response against the West coast confirmed it for me. I think perhaps he wanted to feel that...and he will sign on now. I also feel that we will be in the next 3 games up to our eye balls and prove a lOT of people wrong about many things..we will kick straight and this team will be re finding its mojo.

Probably sent the signed contract to Paul Guerra who will forward it on to Tim Lamb in September

He was the scapegoat yesterday for an unaccountable Salem, who was running around doing a lot of pointing

Salem was brilliant yesterday and watching the replay again today I thought Judd had his best game and played with a bit of surety yesterday. Actually Disco, Howes, Bowey, McVee and Rivers all jelled really well with TMac and Salo tidying up around them. I thought this group are growing before our eyes, hope TMac goes around again.

Four Quarter game

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
