Yep. Hotton going to be a jet

I reckon it would have been a toss up between Lindsay and Hotton

Really interesting that both our draft picks so far are great kicks. With Windsor last year, it seems our "best available" philosophy comes with a qualification about good foot skills.

love it, Travis Johnston and Aaron Davey would carve teams up with with the rest of the squad we have to put around them.

Good kicking never goes out of style.

The two key forward touted for first round don’t get taken tonight… there’s the evidence for the flat-earthers that the time of the KPP is coming to an end!

Ha, my wife thought it was weird seeing some of the young boys drinking at the draft.  Not he AFL squeaky image  :)

how strange. 18 year olds can drink any time

I guess when you get older the kids seem younger!

It's gotta be paired with an ability to win contest though, and the club obviously believes that's the case with Lindsay, just as it is the case with Windsor.

I need to learn stay off the MFC social media pages, reading supporter comments. NFI.

Saints going with 2 defenders at 8&9 is interesting

But they have always been poor down back so I think it will pay off

What was the trade Port did with West Coast?

I'm assuming fans are asking why we didn't select 2 key forwards?

It’s a wing/mid and CHF if they want it to be though.

At AFL level Travaglia really profiles as a big midfielder and Lindsay a half back, despite them playing the opposite roles now.

You assume correctly

”we don’t need more midfielders”

Port gave up 16 and 45 for West Coast pick 15 based on what was displayed on the fox telecast.

It doesn't make sense to me. Port give away pick 45 for nothing unless they knew west coast were going to take Berry which seemed unlikely with Bo Allan on the board.

My thoughts as well. I am surprised that Allan dropped a bit.

I do hope that we are keeping in touch with the ones that were interested in before the draft. Dropping players like Tauru, Hotton, Smith, Faull, Hynes and Armstrong an email or call to congratulate them and let them know were will be watching their development with interest.

It amazes me how posters on here claim to be ‘experts’ on the draft picks. Did you all attend junior footy matches galore???? Have we picked another Toumpas, Cale Morton or Gysberts? You wouldn’t have a clue.

Wtf north traded there future first for pick 27 total insanity, by that logic we would have got it for one of the 2nd round picks we gave Essendon

I think it’s more the case Freo were going to trade for the pick and take berry so port had to out bid them

I really wish we were able to hang to pick 28 as part of the Bombers pick 9 trade. There's plenty of good talent left on the board including Shanahan and Whitlock.

On the plus side, cheers Essendon for pick 9 (11)! Xavier Lindsay looks a player!

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
