Let's get off the fence and state our preferences, perhaps a short explanation as to why.

We can muse over a choice but we have to settle on a player for each selection, and it has to be realistic - can't really be going for Lawlor @ 5 and FOS @ 9 etc.

Bonus points who's your "unknown" for pick 83?

Assuming north are unable to trade down past our first pick, and take Tauru

5 - Jagga

9 - Bo Allen

others I wouldn’t be disappointed with would be Draper or Langford at 5, and Travaglia, Reid or Smilie (unlikely gets there) at 9

5. Jagga

(Really like Langford and Smillie too)

9. Travalgia, Allan, Reid, Lindsay all intrigue, might have too many options for pick 9!

83. Clancy Dennis

Jagga Smith at 5. Would be happy with Langford next if Jagga is gone.

Smilie or Allan if they're there or Hynes at 9.

I’ll also assume Tauru is gone by our first pick.

Pick 5- Langford. Good left peg and great contested mark. I think we will draft for right now as much as the future and I think Langford makes most sense to have an impact next year. Very versatile, could interchange with trac, play mobile half forward or take Sparrows spot. Could even play a game or two instead of fritter if he refuses to work hard enough again this year.

Pick 9- Lindsay will play half back and is a great kick of the ball. Can play outside mid in few years.

There’s heaps of others I like but I think these two would improve us significantly next year.
If not them I’d still like a pair that combine ability to play forward and back as well as in the middle with contested marking and kicking skills.

5 - Jagga Smith

I was on Langford for a long time (and would still take him if Jagga isn’t there) but I’ve come round to Jagga in a big way the past few weeks

9 - Allan or Smilie

This presumes we take Jagga and we look to pair him with a big bodied mid

If we take Langford at 5 I’d love Lindsay or Reid here

I would take Jagga Smith at pick 5 and Murphy Reid at pick 9 assuming both are available.

back up plan for either pick would be Langford and Travaglia/Hynes

Smith at 5 if there no buts about it.

Assuming Smith complement him with one of Smillie, Travaglia, Allan in that order.

I do really like Reid but have nagging concern about taking two smallish mids.

Hoping Langford / Smith at 5.

Armstrong / Travaglia / Allan at 9 depending on who is available

Reid is absolute class with insane footy IQ, i liken him to Steele Sidebottom.

I would much rather take a chance on Reid being small ish vs the go home risks around Allen.

If Smillie is available (he won't be) he's a no brainer at 9 though

I really like the idea of a combo of a tall and small mid with the 2 picks with both also offering flexibility to play other positions well until their time comes to play full time inside mid.

My preference would be Langford at 5, Reid at 9 which I think perfectly compliment each other. Langford might have the highest cieling out of any player and floor projects as a solid big body inside mid. Reid has probably the best skills and footy IQ out of any player in the draft and knows how to find it in dangerous spaces, I think he starts at half back before working his way into the middle.

id also be very happy with Jagga & Allan combo.

5 and 9

Methinks 6 and 11!

🤪

I have little understanding of the kids coming through other than the chatter around them and the highlights videos, plus the underage games watched mid-year

I love the idea of Langford and Tauru in those spots but would be just as happy with Smith and Armstrong or Smillie and Allen

Seems to be a complete raffle this year

Jagga Smith at 5, no doubt about that one. Low risk, plug-and-play midfielder who fills a need. Failing that, probably Langford.

I'd be OK with Armstrong at 9 although would prefer a midfielder at both picks. A slider such as Smillie would be good. I am not super keen on Bo Allen due to the WA factor. I have a feeling JT will reach for someone random here a la Kosi and Windsor/Tholstrup.

Taj Hotton could be the one, he's so exciting when he's up and going, and i suspect without his injuries we'd probably be talking about him in the top 5 of the draft.

If it’s a choice between, Smith, Tauru and Langford… go for Smith

if Smith is already taken, take a chance on Tauru,

If Smith and Tauru are gone, there’s a chance that means Draper or even O’Sullivan (although highly unlikely) are available, in which case, one of those two over Langford.

Pick 9 can be the best available player (Allen? Smillie? Armstrong?)… I suspect a mid or back, so maybe not Armstrong. I’d prefer Allen.

The big question though, is… @Mouseymoo, do you plan to get off the fence and offer us your picks?

5 - Langford just over Tauru. Really hoping one of them is available

9 - Hannaford. This kid is legit. Speedy, explosive, one touch, physical. He’ll be a quality small forward who transitions to a good midfielder once he builds his tank.

83 - Tye Hourigan

Don't mind the Hannaford shout, might be one you could trade pick 9 down a few spots and still grab

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
